whilst not having the ability to auto speed up nor the autopilot ability.
Too early for me to judge as well. It's interesting though. So far, I like the shiny newness of it and I'm having fun with my Valdore on auto. I never had the patience to do the button order before, but now it's automated.
Tap Locutus, Tap Power Surge, Tap Ardra, Tap Garth, Tap EMP.
This method takes great skill to use. The ship buttons require the use of my left hand thumb AKA "The Devil's Digit". Your soul is in peril but nobody said high level gameplay wasn't without risk.
New School that takes "no" skill:
Tap Skip, Tap Auto Button, Tap Speed-up Twice, Tap Skip again.
All buttons only require the use of one thumb and therefore only half your brain.

Clearly pushing 5 buttons one way and pushing 5 buttons the other way has made the game much, much dumber. At minimum the skip button should be moved to other half of your screen. This would require the use of both thumbs and the entirety of your brain.
Still not sure if I like this or not, but it doesn't change the effort, maybe actually increases it.
As it is now, you have to tap to skip the animation, two taps to go to 3x, 1 tap to auto, 1 tap to skip the animation (5 taps)
Before you had to tap your ship skills and crew (which could be from 4-6 taps normally).
Now instead of spreading out all those taps over 15-20 seconds a battle its compressed into 5.
So you wind up having to do the same amount of tapping each skirmish, just compressed into less than half the time, which might mean you would have to do twice as many taps to top 25 the event.
It kind of seems like galaxy with far superior rewards now, huh?
@Zom[BAD] Squirrel is currently 850,000+ in first place. Stay strong, 🐿️!!!!!
Less than three hours in. I would not be surprised if the top ten are all 7,500,000+ and 10,000,000+ to get first.
It's gonna be a bloodbath & beyond!!!!!
I am given to believe that some do. Not everyone can run long voyages to accrue chrons or they are whales going for rank and running out. Guess we will see if there is an uptick in sales.
But while the animation skips are nice, I hope the auto-play and speed-ups are removed from future Skirmish events.
I cleared thresholds faster than pretty much any other event I've played, but the speed doesn't really matter to me.
I think Skirmish events are great because of being able to farm items via space battles while earning back a lot of chrons, and earning Honor, as well. But one other thing I always liked about Skirmishes is that you could play them while doing something else — watching TV, for example. Now, they go by so quickly, that's not really something I'm easily able to do. So those two changes take away a lot of the enjoyment from Skirmish events for me. It's definitely more "grindy" now.
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

As for VP increases, that was to be expected. The amount of time any one person can contribute and what ships/crew they have available will still govern their ability to compete...on the flip side, people who are stressed to find time over the weekend to participate will now be better empowered to clear thresholds and everyone else gets to farm even more components, starbase components, and honor. I am leaning towards saying that the added grind is worth this benefit.
The skip intro is excellent for me on a slow (transatlantic) connection. Sometimes the game hangs for a few seconds or more when I try and start each battle. The skip intro allows me to put the phone down and wait for the into, then start the fight on my terms. It may not seem much, but it helps when multitasking.
The rest I am undecided about.
Thankyou. I have only just realised it goes up to 3x, I was thinking it went to 2x, then back to 1x. Fat fingers here puts auto on before speedup, I am only going for thresholds so it won't really matter. I would like the Doctor, but don't have time to put in.
Agreed with this. Same amount of tapping. The battles are faster. If you are only clearing threshold this is an improvement. If you are planning to rank well, I suspect this will result in needing to run more battles, clicking more, and spending more chrons, all in the same amount of time as before.
The speed-up/autoplay I’m less excited about; at least when we had to activate the abilities ourselves it felt like we played some part in the process, whereas now it feels similar to getting through ads for an ad-warp. Skirmish was never all that engaging or fun but this doesn’t feel like a game at all.
My main concern is that the deciding factor for a high rank is no longer how much time you’re willing to put in, but how many chrons you have. I always save chrons for skirmishes and I regularly place in the top 25 or so with the amount saved from the previous event without having to buy any more. If I skip a skirmish, I can make it into the top 10 on the next one with the chrons saved. That doesn’t seem likely to be possible now, as I would guess that there are more folks willing to buy more chrons than to tap away for days at a time.
Tl;dr - Skirmishes are my favorite event because they’re the easiest one to place highly for an investment of time rather than money - no items needed, no shuttle tokens or boosts to jump up the ranks, and an achievable maximum amount of chrons/intel you could possibly spend in the time allotted. With time no longer much of a factor, I don’t know that that will still be the case.
Occasionally.. but Rarely.
Can we get bigger buttons on the battle screen? Thanx Much.
