Ya. As a thank you to our player base, please work extra hard for the same items because we're giving the staff off. It really shows the lack of respect DB has for the players.
Yeah, they really tried to sell that as a GOOD thing..... Not only is there no benefit to a longer event, there is actually a double punishment. More players to reach Community Goals means even higher VP needed for top 1000. Thank you DB!
Players get the rewards by participating, higher targets do not give more players a better chance at the rewards. The extra day theoretically gives them a better chance, but if they never competed in 4 days, they won't in 5.
This really translates to, "The community rewards have become too easy, so we're going to make them harder."
Well, let's face it, the community rewards haven't been changed in like forever, and getting the maximum reward within the first 6 hours of the event was laughable at best.
The question that must be asked, however, is when will the tiered rewards get an overhaul, because with the serious influx of players this game got, it gets progressively difficult to claim any special reward. To get into the top 1000 you need to have at least 6-7000 chronitons, and on a 5-day event like this one, even 7k may not be enough. Keeping in mind that I already have Duchamps fully fused, this might turn into the next event I stop at 130k.
We will have to wait and see if the new Jadzia variation is worth the participation though. I was hoping for some MED thrown in it for good measure...

Community rewards are not a limited resource, you can do one recipe ten seconds before the phase change and still get them, it doesn't matter if we've already unlocked them or not. Get out of here with the PR spin, that's nonsense and you know it. This is a blatant attempt to force people to spend more over the holiday weekend and spin it as "helping" us.
Anybody who spends on this event is 100% supporting this garbage, and I guarantee they are testing this out with the long event to see if it impacts sales and will continue doing it going forward if they don't see a drop. Don't support this nonsense, go spend the holiday with your family and friends.

Yeah, this. It's a *very* EA kind of statement. My most generous reading of it is maybe, just maybe, they are assuming a lot of people will rightfully say "@%^% off" over the first handful of days because they are fortunate to have some semblance of a family life. And that expanding the phase 1 window ensures that people will have a chance to log in and play the event at some point. However, the increase in community thresholds basically undermines that notion, so it's probably just a miserable and tone deaf statement, like so many others in the past.

Eh, it makes sense to me in some regard. On the other hand I almost wish there wasn't an event on Thanksgiving but that's just me being old and curmudgeonly.
I would have preferred it start on Friday instead of Wednesday but the toughest
part of a galaxy event is the beginning and you can do that on Wednesday then just do little bits the rest of the time.
Shan, can you please clarify what was intended from the post on the announcements board? As has been mentioned above, what was posted really doesn't make any sense. Everyone has the same chance to participate and claim the community rewards regardless of what the target VP value is.
I'm hoping you instead meant to say that there are *more* reward tiers than previously, rewarding us for becoming stronger. Because otherwise what you've done only hurts the community by making the same rewards more challenging to reach. Why would this be intended?

DB's next move will be to reduce Max Event Shuttle VP from 4,000 to 2,000 while simultaneously increasing the return time from 3 hours to 5 hours....
