I think I may be the only one then who thinks that more deals is not the recipe for success many of you think it is. The product is already devalued enormously as TP has sought to the sell us more for less rather than keep the quality high and the price steady. There's already an enormous issue around the low value of premium packs and citations. I mean they've been selling citations for $5, that makes the double deal seem like a mugs game.
Give me a regular stream of things to do and a good reason to keep buying and you won't need to discount it for me.
That raises a question I don’t think we’ve really tackled as a community: if the Game Mechanics Genie granted us our wish to completely rebuild the portal system to give us multiple smaller pools broken down by release date, would we end up getting more of the less-exciting deals like the one we had over the weekend or, Great Bird of the Galaxy forbid, universally reviled offers like Sail The Starry Skies instead of the dilithium and pack deals we’ve seen over the last year or two?
Again, I have no issues with real feedback, which will help the game improve and grow. I commend the majority of those who would fall into your second category. It's the pits of entitlement and negativity I don't care for. And they are more plentiful than you seem to think.

Much respect as well for the pronoun awareness (sir, for what it's worth lol). As we've seen with Adira, this is a sensitive issue for a lot of people here, and the respect/empathy for others is appreciated. 🖖
In regard to the portal, that is a rather interesting conundrum you've raised. I think for a lot of people, particularly those deeper in the game, the sheer number of crew in the portal is overwhelming. It is near impossible to get all the crew, just due to the sheer luck factor involved alone.
Also, nothing is quite so frustrating as the all frozen/maxed beholds, or seemingly infinite copies of unneeded crew, while struggling to get your first of one you don't have.
Maybe it is time for a real, serious discussion about overhauling the portal mechanics itself. Maybe just like gauntlet has a merit based "reroll", the portal could have something similar for all maxed beholds.
This way people couldn't abuse it just for "bad" crew until they hit a tier 1, but they could still reroll for an actual crew/star they don't have. Something to consider, perhaps?
The community has come up with a lot of neat ideas to rework the portal. My favorite is the one that separates crew by release date (with obvious exceptions for gauntlet or honor hall specials), with pricing tiers working backwards from the default 650 price (bottoming out somewhere between the 390 and 490 discounted pack prices). A less easy-to-implement alternative would be to sort by raw stats; this method has often been framed in terms of voyage rankings (which are too generic and make crew with slightly weaker stats but awesome skill/trait combos appear to be inferior to less flexible crew) or Big Book rankings (which are highly subjective and are player-driven).
If we were to get a multi-tiered portal system, I would think the likelihood of also getting a behold re-roll would go down. Or perhaps there would be a (larger?) merit/honor/dil cost involved with a re-roll? Either way, there have been good ideas for this as well. Limiting players to one re-roll per behold with a cost of 50-150 dil could be a good way to avoid abuse.

I found this discussion about Legacy Legendaries (aka: Decrepit Legendaries) fairly serious, though threads anywhere other than The Bridge seem to die much more quickly. There was also a recent thread about no more all immortal beholds. I hope for a re-roll option someday, but... that might take a lot of coding on WRG's end.
I don't think the problem is the community not discussing these things. I think it's more along the lines of them getting discussed, but nothing happens. The devs don't stop by and say, "I'm afraid that is impossible," or anything. They seem to have sort of addressed the Decrepit Legendary issue with the discount 390 and 490 packs. That's not as extensive or F2P-friendly as I would like. And it wasn't announced, "here's our solution to a stated problem." So... we just carry on. Sometimes we gripe. Sometimes we don't feel that they're listening because the solution isn't the one that the players expected and the devs don't communicate their intentions or say, "we heard you and here's our compromise."
We don't always give the devs the credit they deserve. But that's partly because they do a lot behind the scenes, without communication (maybe because there's only one Shan and she can only do so much), so we are left to our own imaginations. Sometimes that comes out as constructive criticism, other times it is a pure expression of frustration. At the end of the day, we all want the game to be better and to become the best game that a team of devs can produce. Hopefully we can all remember that and be as constructive as possible when we come to the forum.

I have said this since they devalued dilithium by making it available for free. I thought that having to spend to get extra shuttles via dilithium was a good way to support the game whilst keeping it 'free' for those who chose not to have the extra shuttles. IMHO it was this one decision (devaluing dilithium by making it free) that ruined DB.
The premium packs are only lower value to long-established players/rosters. Newer players still get value from them - the 4* card is often not FF’d, some 3* cards may still be unbuilt because of prioritizing other goals, etc. The 10-for-$10 offer is still a good one for many players. I’m also a fan of $4-5 offers. Those are more palatable to players on a budget. The dilution issue is unavoidable unless TP opts for partitioned pools (which I support) or simply retires some cards (which would be a mistake in my view).
For myself, starting about 1.5 years ago, I decided to only open premium packs in groups of 10. That boosts my odds of getting something useful in the moment (which at my stage means a 5* card or project crew like Mut Paris or a Bynar). IMO, opening 1 pack at a time is a recipe for repeated disappointment for an established player (the campaign pulls thread is a good illustration of this if you just focus on Proont’s results; not saying his approach is wrong, just not my cup of earl gray). I went through a transition period of doing 3 packs at a time, but I still needed a fair number of 4* cards during that phase, so getting 1 useful card from 3 packs was an acceptable ratio to me then.

I like your ideas. I think there is a lot of good thought to these and they could definitely be implemented in a fair way. It makes things a little less reliant on the RNGods to be smiling on you, giving a second chance should you choose. It does this while also preventing whales from abusing the mechanic in a way that would make the playing feed even more unbalanced.

Thank you for sharing this, @Prime Lorca [10FH]. I admit I'm not really aware of what goes on in the other parts of the forums, as I can barely keep up with this one lol So I'm afraid I wasn't familiar with that post before now.
I really do like the thought process behind the Legacy Legendaries idea. As more crew get added to the game, it makes it more and more difficult to get a specific crew member. This doesn't even take into account getting additional stars. You could use cites to star up a crew. But this doesn't help if you don't have a first star to begin with.
One thing that hasn't sat right with me is that it is impossible to get gold crew on voyages. Doesn't matter how long or successful your voyage is, the best you can do is purple crew. This needs to be fixed IMO.
I also would like to see more Gold crew added to event thresholds (the 400k level). Even if these are lower tier/older Golds, it at least gives people more of a chance to get Golds. It really shouldn't effect the power curve much either.
My biggest hope though is for more mini-event/temporary achievement based opportunities. We would all probably appreciate more things to do between events and it would also help with the issues raised above.
The Boot Camp idea also definitely has a lot of potential. Anything that forces more strategic thinking into this game is awesome with me.
This kind of discussion is more of what this forum needs. Thank you.
I, for one, would love to see Decrepit Legendaries taken out of the portal and added to other aspects of the game. If that means adding them to voyages or using them as a way to make the arena more exciting, I would be in support of that (as both have been discussed in the Forums before). I like the idea of possibly adding them at 400k in events as well.
While that would help many established players gain cards not necessarily sought after today for utilitarian purposes, it can also benefit less established players by adding a stronger card to the crew.
I also think it is a possible revenue stream if TP needed such a result as a catalyst for change. I would hope though, not to the point that it cuts out beginning or less developed players from being able to also access DL’s.
IMHO something needs to change in the game. Otherwise, it is increasingly repetitive and stale of late. I recognize some changes have been made and do not diminish those changes. I would like to see some more changes like evolving missions, different event types, etc.

12 hours from now, I am realllllly hoping that we are all on these forums making posts about how we got it wrong, and that the anniversary was the best that has been witnessed by long term players.
Well, they hinted for a second celebration part when they announced the first. There HAS to be something up their sleeve...

Paris is great. So was Bones.
Adira is an apology to fix a mistake, like the 100k honor was last year.
But last year had the epic honor sale, this year... well hopefully the dabo sale is great?
They said they have more special things planned. Today is CD, so I am looking forward to what other special things they have planned. They did say that there was more.
I think its okay that people are wanting more. A lot of people put more money into this game than they do a monthly streaming subscription, and some even a brand new console game.
The honor sale last year was something that kept us enagaged and busy for a while. Paris is nice indeed but once claimed, fused and equipped there is nothing left to do.
I am hoping for something that makes me spend at least a little extra TIME with the game.
