Some warm words and leet chrons. Honestly I am speechless.

Sense I get is that there is a big and growing disconnect between where TP/WRG thinks the game is at and what the player base feels. By player base, I guess it is me personally and my interpretation of what I read on the forums.
TP/WRG seems to be of the view that they have been too generous in the past and its time to walk back on some of the said generosity - honor sales were too good and hence should be less frequent; celebrations have had too many giveaways and should be less rewarding; offers have been too good; ranked rewards are too easy; folks need to be stopped from hording resources (maybe that explains why there is now a timer on emails with chrons and wont surprise me if they do something like that for voyage tokens); the voyage bug should be monetized instead of giving players back resources spent on stuck voyages; and general attitude of CS (I was recently told that I am lying and unless I can prove otherwise with a screenshot I should take a hike); etc. None of these changes are outrageous by themselves. Even my CS interaction, which left a bad taste, is reasonable since if I can't prove what I am saying they cannot tell I am not lying. But this is not how CS behaved in the past and it seems to be a general trend.
In sharp contrast, the veteran player base (or maybe just me) feel like that the game has gotten extremely stale and unless TP addresses some longstanding issues its not really fun playing. Like some of the other comments in this thread, the giveaways and honor sale help with engagement (and getting rid of them is counterproductive) but overall we desperately want something new. Plus old issues like army of 1/5 legendries (especially the decrepit ones), megas that no longer feel like mega; the voyage bug, diluted portals (the behold change is far from sufficient for long time players) etc.
Perhaps the game is still fun for newer players but for me it has become just too stale and TP/WRG seems to be on a totally different page regarding what is needed to make it interesting again. I guess I will wait for the new feature and hope its not another disappointment. But maybe I have just played the game too long and its time to call it quits.
I get it's not a huge gift. And other free stuff included would not have hurt the company. I mean, it's really just changing zeros and ones in a server somewhere. It's not like they are sending everyone a new 70" LED 4K HDTV.......

To answer Scott et al. I just wonder why they think I'd want another 1337 chronitons to go with the 13,000 I can do absolutely nothing with. Like the poster above says, there is such a huge disconnect which actually makes it feel like a kick in the face rather than a gift.

I think you summarized it perfectly. This is exactly what i have been seeing and thinking about all of this nonsense.
I mean, they used a player request as an advertising platform to hype up portal packs, and then offered “deals” that are less generous than weve seen in the past. Its friggen anniversary week, and they cant even offer the 4 packs for $5? The price of admission is $25 or $50?
And the same week people were hoping for an honor sale, we get a citation station offer for $99? So $25 a cite?

I can still remember when that amount of chrons would have been a huge deal for me, so I appreciate the gesture for those that it will make a difference.
Its everything else that is a kick in the face.
Instead of last years honor sale, they are selling us 4 legendary citations for $134.99 (Canadian). Really? It's tone deaf and insulting. Thats the offer on Convergence Day? Really?? Read the room.

If it would have been Dil I could have swallowed my anger over the fact that there is literally NOTHING to do in the game today which we would not do every freaking Faction Thursday.
They could have just rerun Cataclysm. They could have started whatever Dabo voodoo is about to come on this special day instead of whenever.
What a wasted chance!
Today could be the last nail in several players' coffin.

Well, it is becoming more and more obvious to me that TP/WRG is putting all of their eggs into this hyped Q1 feature coming next month...
If this ginormous new enhancement is not received by the player base as the truly game-changing feature that is promoted to be, I could easily see a mass exodus of long-time players.

Almost.
Still waiting for the big new feature!
The new feature that will require two brand new currencies.......in a game that already has chrons, merits, honor, dilithium, federation credits.....yet we NEED two more???
Last nail in the coffin for me. Which im sure will make some people rejoice.

...which they could at least have properly announced if not released today. Like a dev diary? Some info on that would have been better than chrons for me.
But that will not happen either.

This new feature that needs to be so awesome that it makes up for the fact that mini events and new distress calls were put on the back burner for it? I dont think it will live up the the immense expectations that people are putting on it.
I think it will probably be cool, and give me a bit more to do in the game. But it definitely won't be able to make me forget how poor their performance has been over these couple months.

Only 13k chrons can be easily spend in Galaxy and Skirmishes Events.
130k not so much.
Like others, I am starting to play other games. Star Trek used to be the only game I was playing really actively... but now, I find that I am skipping more events, and I am now thinking about putting my alt back out of service.
I am very disappointed in TP, it is almost like they don't want our business...

Yeah, I missed a zero *blushes*
It's always time rather than resources that stops me competing for top 100 in those events. I feel I'm far from alone in that.
I get that newer players will love the chroniton gift - I would have loved it five years ago. But is that what TP are aiming for - player turnover? I just don't see that as a practical model in a Star Trek game. Throw us five-year veterans a bone!

"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
I play Galaxy of Heroes also and it has 11 different currencies.
I used to play it quite a lot back in the day but in the end gave it up. I find it kinda interesting how differently it and STT do things, both for better and worse. I never spent any money on GoH where as I have spent money here.
As I remember, there really is not that much randomness in GoH compared to STT if you aren't spending actual money on the packs which I understood are randomized in what they drop. You spend most of your time grinding or working towards certain characters or goals that the player can set for themselves. Of course that leads to the biggest issues with GoH and balancing / releasing new characters, events etc. that just keep you grinding for the next shiny thing that ultimately made me drop it because it was taking way too long and I was sure I would never catch up with some of the bigger spenders and veterans
Of course this is kinda the same for STT, but STT is nearly not so much focused on PvP aspects as GoH where the faster progression via ranking rewards is much higher.

I would argue that this was bad timing too, if so. In this case they should have done the 2 events 1 week earlier to be able to announce the feature as the climax to it all today.

I’m experiencing a lot of burn out. It’s getting hard to participate in events and even to just make dailies. The only excitement I experience is with deals. Deals get me to put money into the game.
I have to say, the Luau Paris achievements did get me Interested again. Those always do. If they could do that once a month and give away 2 or 3 copies of an old, worthless legendary, It would spark my interest.
I refuse to spend actual cash on low stat legendaries, but might consider it if it meant I could get multiple copies. I think it would be more fun if the achievements were more challenging, too.
Just had a thought. It could work similar to the campaign track. The basic achievements could be for an old SR, and you can purchase the VIP option for $10 to get the legendary.
