Why should we spend 1500/3000 dilithium on 5 measly crew slots? That's 2 weeks or a month's worth of hording dilithium if you're buying the monthly card. If you're buying the dilithium straight up that can be 20 us dollars if you're buying the 1500 crystal package or 50 US dollars for 4000 crystals that is beyond ridiculous pricing for 5 slots. I think the practical solution here is for them to allow us to cryo any card thats lvl 100 and FE. I've nearly stopped competing in every event and have not bought the current campaign nor will I be buying the next campaign as I simply have nowhere to put the two new cards and I don't feel like buying them, citing them and putting them on ice or having to freeze one of the many 1/5 cards that currently make up my roster. It's a card collecting game where I can't collect cards. I've already had to put 5, legendary cards on ice making my voyages and gauntlet weaker. Had to put bell riots bashir and katrina cornwell ev suit seven and minuet. Bashir and cornwell made my voyages frequently on med voyages and minuet gets some use on gauntlets. Ev suit seven would rarely make voyages but she did sneak in a few as well as my second copy of picardgate.
We have an upcoming mega and with that, we're getting 5 new slots which will immediately be taken up by the new 4/5 and at least two 3/4 purples. If we get 2 galaxies that means we can immo two of the new purples.
WRG you've lost at least 30 dollars from me because I have no space, I wonder how many more people are in the same predicament where they're curving their spending because they have no space.
Thats the problem, 1500/3000 dilithium for 5 extra crew slots does not even keep up with all of the legendary crew that are released in a month. 1 legendary/week from events, plus one or two more from tuesday packs/month.
I get what you mean Rara about freezing legendaries that are less useful. I have reluctantly done it with a couple two skilled legendaries like Degra and T’kuvma. The issue for me and others is the difficulty being able to immortalize legendaries so that they can be frozen. Like with my Ru’afo I could freeze him as I got him 4/5 from the mega and added a citation during that mega. But to do it I would need a replacement. I have a Assimilated La Forge that I was able to get to 4/5 with random legendary beholds. I could make him 5/5 with a citation but he is voyage rank 162. He is better but is he better enough to spend a limited citation on? Maybe cause he is part of a collection. But that just gives me one spot and to get it I lose a 5/5. What do I do with my 3/5’s and 2/5’s. You don’t want to airlock them but can I get additional stars for them without citations? That is where I get stuck.

This is why I don’t like raw voyage ranks...when you’re choosing who should fill a voyage’s ENG slot, you’re not looking at all 161 of the people ahead of La Forge in the game...you’re looking at the dozen or so with better ENG and the handful that have better ENG and COM, then comparing trait matches. And that’s if you have Captain Braxton, Laborer Kirk, Amelia Earhart, and who ever else is on that very short list.
I totally get that people want to hoard honour - I'm one of those, sat on a pile of it. But I'm not going to complain about a lack of slots because of something I've chosen to do and when there are solutions to the lack of slots...
Either spend the honour - in the past I've spent honour on 3* citations just to make room! Or get rid of some of the decrepit 5*s - you will never catch them all!
Not everyone has the same objectives in this game. For some, one of the primary objectives IS to catch them all. And the limitations on crew slots are a serious impediment to that.
But to say 'there is a lack of crew slots, give us a solution' (slot sales) when there is already a solution (cite or airlock) is imho a little strange.
There are plenty of things wrong with this game which players have offered solutions for. Crew slots is not one of the things that is wrong - it is part of the game and with proper use of resources it can be managed. One cannot say 'I have no slots' whilst at the same time hoarding the honour, that would give one more crew slots, in anticipation of a sale.
ETA - I missed the third solution that is staring us all in the face! Buy the dilithium to purchase more slots if you're that desperate. There is no need to wait for a sale. There is no limit to crew slots other than that which one is willing to spend.
The issue is not that people want a bunch of open slots as you have, it's that the severely limited crew slots - which do not remotely keep pace with the addition of characters to the game - hampers collecting crew. That aspect is a big draw for a lot of people; indeed, assembling crew is the first selling point of the game on the Steam page.
Even if people spend honour at the first opportunity, they will only be able to cite a small portion of characters that they acquire. Honour debt is well known.
Airlocking is a "solution", but it is an act of frustration rather than a strategic challenge. Yes it can be "managed", but it's not enjoyable. Why buy packs, complete voyages, reach the threshold in events etc when you will only wind up having to throw away your crew, or others to make room for them?
The slot limitations may not bother you, but it detracts from the enjoyment of the game for many others - the frustration is entirely valid. Likewise, the problems which you feel the game has may not be shared by everyone, but that doesn't mean your concerns are invalid.
I'd be interested in a Slot sale! Not everyone is at the same place in the game and offering a Slot Sale doesn't hurt the players that are not interested in more slots in the first place, but does help those that have a large number of 1/5 Crew they would eventually like to FF.
A slot sale would be amazing, I always buy a couple every sale, I don’t have an amazing crew, I have 5 ff 5s and enough greens and blues to do the tasks, I airlock all 4s ASAP and I just don’t have enough slots to try and keep all the purples and golds that aren’t FF.
I think that whilst there are players that will happily spend a fortune on the game, there are a lot who will only spend on the daily card and the game needs both types of players, plus the ones who generate income through watching videos.

I agree 100%. I couldn’t care less about overall voyage numbers. Sure, Braxton is a beast, but the fact he is #1 overall (unless he has been supplanted - see, I have no idea) has absolutely zero bearing on that for me. In fact, I would rather have EMA or Myc. Both of them make FAR more voyages for me.
I care about primary, pair and traits when judging a crew’s voyage beast-ness.

It is true my Braxton doesn’t make many voyages. His skill trio doesn’t lend itself well to as many voyages as I would like. But when it does he is helpful. Especially with that saboteur trait.
Appreciate a lot of posters here are longer-term players, so here's a view from a relative newbie on the slots/sale issue.
I'm approaching 9 months in the game. I have 175 crew slots, and finding it a struggle to manage numbers. I've now got all C/U/R crew immortalized and frozen, so any repeats get binned.
Of the 175:
30 Legendary- 20x 1/5. Picked-up 5 in the last week, which would be great, except it's meant having to freeze a number of strong 4/4 crew to make space. The other 25 I already had are Lev. 100, and currently trying to get DF Torres and Mirror Detmer there too for the upcoming event.
30 Ultra Rare Lev. 100- 10x 4/4 who I use for Voyages and Arena, and 20x 3/4 from events, I'm hoping to complete and freeze.
Leaves me with 115x 1/4 or 2/4 (mostly Lev 1 or 10). I could start airlocking them (already did a couple) but as I'm in it for the collecting, it seems counter-productive. Especially when the cards I airlocked then came-up in packs shortly after.
I've gained a large amount of honor (through increasing dupes) and dilithium in the last few months (since the last slots and honor sales) and never had a chance to take advantage of them previously due to being low on reasources. If I had to buy slots at the minute, I could get 10 (almost 15), but if I do that, I'll be in the same boat in a couple of months- being able to buy 25/30 in the sale will allow me to also unfreeze a few of the 40 frozen 4/4 I have. Being able to buy a decent number of citations for my UR 3/4 to allow me to freeze the less useful ones would stop me having to chose between airlocking a new card or freezing one of my best voyagers.
Sure- I could start juggling the frozen crew, but that adds an additional "unfun" resource management component that will put me off playing, given I'd have 10 open slots for those 50 crew to compete for. Whilst I appreciate you can't rely on sales being consistent, being relatively new player, finally having a sale I can take advantage on will make a huge difference to whether I can continue collect crew or not (I considered buying the premium track, but I decided against it the last couple of months because it just causes more headaches with slots that it solves) and thus whether I enjoy the game.
TP: Here is a way for you to get ALOT more crew with our big new feature!! Players: Did you give any thought to crew slots? TP: ____________________________
Founding ADM - PoF family of fleets (POF, POF2 & POF3) - Dear TP: Non sequitur. Your facts are uncoordinated.
Anyway. Would appreciate a sale soon as well. I'll be adding 35 slots whenever the next one happens.
But in agreement of what's been said above, because of all the new "sales" that allowed us to mass-acquire cards I think a free 10 slots would be the minimum that could be done.
So no free slots for this mega? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we get free slots for every mega event in 2020?
No, there were only 3 crew slot sales in 2020, February, May and October.
Ben announced on our stream last week that there is a crew slot sale coming later this month.

The latest development they've implemented shows that the game is degenerating into a card collecting game. They need to expand the game with new game modes, new missions, new WAYS to use your crew. It's becoming absurd how it's now just a game of shuffling your crew in and out of cryostasis because of a constantly bottlenecked crew cap.
I don't need more crew slots. I need a way to freeze this army of FE 1/5's I have that haven't seen a second star in years.
Indeed. I could easily free 100 crew slots.
Edit: I just checked. 128 crew at 1/5*. I didn't bother counting the others.
84 1/5*s and a dozen non-FF 4*s. I agree more with @barrydancer , although I will be getting extra slots going forward (if I do keep playing past March) along @DavideBooks ’s model for crew management. It makes sense to me now.
"In the short run, the game defines the players. But in the long run, it's us players who define the game." — Nicky Case, The Evolution of Trust
dext74 yes. about 1.5 hours into the latest timelines pod cast Ben from WG said it was a Card Collecting game.
It's a question I ask frequently when this comes up -- because so many of their choices act contradictory to the idea that it's a Card Collecting game. There will be things happen or designed in the game that act like the CCG aspect is secondary to... what exactly? I'm not sure. I'd say game play, but there's so much that makes it seem like game place is secondary to... again, I'm stuck. There has felt, for at least a couple of years now, a real identity crisis about what Timelines wants to be versus what it's trying to be.

It's definitely ongoing, no matter how many Slots we have. They fill fast. I had like right open between Events a few weeks ago. Now three open ones!

Preferably in that order. No point me having no space to grab some begolds!
