I don't believe the people that run this company are racist, sexist or any of those things. You only need to look at some of the cadet missions to know their societal intentions. Let's not call them out on a silly mistake - as Lorca posted above, 'problematic' is the word that should be used, if any.
Oh, I genuinely don’t think anyone was trying to be intentionally racist, but something can be racist without malicious intent.
To brush it off as silly mistake is not something I am going to do. Someone should have known better, and they deserve to be raked over the coals for it.
Problematic is probably the softest term I would use for it. More like 🤬🤬 stupid.
As I said, Ipso Lorum exists for a very good reason and someone tried to be too cute by half.
And then it got into the wild, which makes it worse.
Someone doesn’t need to lose their job, but they need a stern talking to.
And a public apology might be nice, but I don’t think anyone should hold their breath on that.
What am I missing? They tried something different with the wording on a linguist's card. It was a bad haiku that wasn't recognized as such by most people. It confused people and some people took it wrong. I would just tweak the haiku and call it a day.
How about
Cute furry tribbles
Affection joy happiness
In Hoshi evoke
Does this work for folks? Same idea, more poetic.
This new crew stats aren't very impressive. I think even with a lesser bonus Professor Sato will be mauling the Dip seats. Bearing that in mind, are there any other existing variants that will be heavy hitters with the lesser bonus in effect?
Also, am I the only one curious about event order? No hybrid. Shuttles- Galaxy- Shuttles- Skirmish
I think that is a new one. I am very curious about what is getting rerun after the mega. Lots of chrons if its a Galaxy or hybrid. I might have a chance at a good finish.

With all due respect, saying that some people “took it wrong” is wrong in and of itself.
That is blaming the people who were very justifiably offended, regardless of original intent.
I, personally, am not pitchfork and torches mad. I genuinely don’t think that any ill intent was meant. I am not of Japanese or even Asian descent, so I really have no claim to outrage. But I am kind of appalled and a little bit stunned by the stupidity of it. 🤷

That zombie video game is a good example right now of how something totally not intended can happen, and upset people.
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
I just got up. And ran into this week's controversy immediately. It concerns me slightly that ONE person realized the flavor text was a freaking Haiku. And that everybody else immediately pounded the "RACIST" button like it was delivering free tacos......
Finding racism in everything is a really old meme that just won’t die, and it cheapens the outrage over any actual racism. We used to have kitty videos or ice bucket challenges or whatever to go viral and get people attention online. Now it’s crying “racism” for attention in the hopes of people thinking you are a morally superior person while farming attention as your tweet or whatever goes viral. It’s incredibly toxic, as overused as that word is. If people would simply ignore the little boy who cried wolf the Internet would be a much more sane place, in a good way. Insanity is part of what makes the Internet such a beautiful place.

Very well said. I actually watched a Kendall Rae video the other day where this beautiful young lady accused her college roommate of being a racist and hating her because she was Black and the roommate was White. I'm like "Here we go, again. Another case of the one person has to be racist because the other person is a different color."
Then they got to the social media posts the White roommate made about the young lady after she moved out. And all the horrible things she had done, which actually caused the severe illness the young lady came down with living there. She was like totally full-on legitimately racist. But, with the way EVERYTHING is "racist" these days, I went in skeptical. It's the Syndrome Theory.
If everything is racist, nothing is racist.
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
I'm still just seeing a very bad haiku, though it might be better called a senryu, since it is more about human nature and not the natural world.
Intent is a very important issue. We've had people screaming racist and blackface over photos of coal miners fresh from the pit. Do we condemn those photos? Do we condemn those of oil workers, fire fighters, and farmers for the same reason. Are you telling me that wasn't "taking it wrong"? This is the same idea.
They decided to have fun with a linguist and make the text poetic. It was too impressionistic and very few people caught it. I think the narrow space they had to work with disguised the intentional brevity of the lines and that ruined the effect. By automatically assuming that it was intended at worst or an unconscious fauxpas at best, isn't that "racist" too. Plus, that would be assuming the person who wrote the haiku was white. We have no way to even know that. If the person who wrote it was Asian or another non-white, this argument gets very, very awkward.
All three Crossfield's are gold. We have no generic Crossfield-class. It would be a nice addition to the roster for newer players and an option for lower level Skirmish. Most, if not all, the Disco ships are gold. That's probably rough on newer players that like Discovery. They can't max a ship from their show, even a basic one, quickly.

We do condemn those photos you mentioned of coal miners, oil workers, and farmers, but it is for environmental reasons, mostly. Though some might for other reasons as well.
I've asked previously to get back on topic, which is the event.
I would like to not have to ask again, thank you
No offense, and please do not take this the wrong way.
But, the Tribble Sato card is part of the Event. Thus, people have been discussing it. {And several have even defended the company as not having done anything wrong!}
But, I will not mention it again.
But, I do understand why others might.

I'm still missing Sisko out of that collection and am on the verge of finishing Solo. It cracks me up every time I think about.
I'm wondering if there is going to be something for Enterprise's anniversary. I keep seeing Enterprise crew popping up in Voyages and packs the last couple days. Considering the proportion of E crew in the overall pool, it is unusual.

How 'bout those Niners, huh? Think Sisko could have won if they replaced all the Logicians bats with tribbles?
That's one way of manufacturing a triumph.
I hadn't noticed the U.S.S. Glenn and I can't say I have any enthusiasm. I don't see any appealing game value. I did enjoy the episode; I'm a sucker for derelicts and ghost ships. But I didn't enjoy it so much that I formed any kind of attachment to the Glenn. I can't imagine there's a huge contingent of players who have been hoping to get the Glenn. I'm happy for whoever among us might be such a player, though.

I am a touch surprised that it is not Cabot.
😀
Does anyone think they will have a handle on this by next week?
😬
They do seem to be getting good at catching it, though. Was back up quick today.
A third Crossfield-class ship? Do we really need a third version of the same model? At least it doesn't have any new skills!
Yeah, was thinking much the same thing. I would have preferred them to do either the Discovery or the ISS Discovery again.
Tribble says she is cool.
Maybe Daniels wasn’t the only time traveling crew person on Enterprise.
