The Gray character is an annoying storyline and there are plenty of Saru options, plus Culber is an underutilized character - my vote will definitely be for Culber!
Strongly disagree as does Wil Wheaton. Representing those not previously represented is great and I am glad Discovery is doing that.
I'm absolutely loving the representation we're getting in Disco - it may be a SJW show, but so was every Trek that came before it, whether people like it or not. Gray's storyline is a beautiful representation of any person's quest to be seen for who they are, and IMO you don't need to be trans to appreciate it from that perspective. The fact that it's being acted out by a trans actor for a trans character is just the cherry on top.
To be fair to @Webberoni , they used the word "annoying" to describe the storyline. Let's not jump on them because we're assuming they find it annoying because its about trans representation.
I welcome Webberoni’s input or clarification on what message was being conveyed. I hope that it was not intended as anti-trans but the statement as is currently constructed comes across that way. Webberoni wrote, “The Gray character is an annoying storyline.” Written that way it is the character Webberoni finds annoying. Especially in regards to us getting a new character in game. If instead Webberoni had written “The Gray character [has] an annoying storyline” in regards to this season then I would agree with your interpretation Robownage.

My comment had nothing to do with representation.
I was referring to the character being a ghost that is getting incorporated into a synth body (blatant cross-promo with Picard series), since Gray died. I think that storyline is as idiotic as the Emperor and Boba Fett coming back from the dead for merchandising and lazy writing purposes (yes, I know they are 'Wars' not 'Trek' characters).

My inclusion of the word “storyline” was very deliberate, otherwise I would have simply said I didn’t like “Gray” or “the Gray character”. We are celebrating this new season of Disco, so it should have been clear what storyline I was referring to (the Gray ghost arc). A little more thought and a little less knee-jerk reaction, coupled with good old benefit-of-the-doubt, goes a long way.
Jumping in to say that is OK and very much encouraged to ask for clarification from someone about what they posted, instead of assuming intention
We all benefit from it, and with a bit of mindfulness we can make a habit out of it.
Have to ask: why those 3 as choices?
Presumably because we haven't had an anniversary crew from Discovery yet, and since this is coming out at the same time as season 4 it seemed like a good idea? I'm just guessing here though.
We haven't had an anniversary crew from Enterprise either. But we know Ben hates Enterprise so that's not going to happen. Which is a shame, because:

Let me venture a guess: WRG is getting paid to promote Discovery in game.
Even so, why Culber, Gray, and Saru? There are other Discovery characters that haven’t been introduced into the game yet (Vance, various dignitaries, several bridge crew).

The statement was not ambiguous at all. You read something into, what you wanted to read into. And called the person out for it.
So just because a character is trans, someone is not allowed to dislike
(of course not because of the reason that its a trans charcter) or critic the character or find it annoying, and if they do they are anti trans or have
to explain theirself?
If someone finds a male/female/heterosexuell character annoying, nobody would assume firsthand, oh it’s because ur anti male/female/heterosexuell….
but if it comes up to a trans or non binary charcter, of course first assumption is, that it is because of that and ppl are called out to explain theirselfs.
THAT‘S prejudice as well.
If i dislike or like a character or any real person as, it has zero to do with their gender or sexual orientation(doesn t matter to me), as it shouldn t have at all.

FWIW, from my experience growing up as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, saying something like "I find that person annoying" often does mean "I don't like them because they're gay./trans/black" I don't blame Apollo for assuming - the comment was poorly phrased. Just changing it slightly to "the Gray character's resurrection storyline" would probably have generated a very different conversation. But I think we've all heard the adage about what happens when you assume...
Like Shan said, it's okay to ask questions about intention to get all of the facts out on the table. I think this conversation has been a great reminder for everyone that words matter and that there's value in taking a moment to reread your comment before posting. Lord knows it has been for me.
I just wondered, is there a Facepalm Picard avatar or crew in the game yet? Even better, how about Double Facepalm Picard from "The Offspring"? Could be a lovely 2* or 3* bonus card, hahaha.

Facepalm Picard, Facepalm Riker, and Facepalm Worf. To make the ultimate 6* Fusion Card.
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
As someone who doesn't care for discovery, this is disappointing. It's sad that there is not a wider range of options. Good for those that will enjoy this anniversary giveaway, but nothing for me here.
I feel really awkward voting for a character only on the image. Have I missed info, or are we to judge the books by their cover?
Also, gonna echo DScottHewitt here... Boba Fett always had survived that event and had a very colorful story afterwards in the EU.
And there is nothing canon in any film or TV show I have seen to refute he survived. Mandolorean Season Two actually established in canon he did survive. Everyone should be happy except Jeremy from CinemaSins. He would Sin it, even though he saw it on screen. Plus, there is his "The books don't matter" Cliche Ex Machina.......

We don't normally get art before the selection. Past times it was just a name. And if I'm remembering correctly, other times it's been just the character.
I chose Saru because I like his character best in the first two seasons. If I could have seen the others without having to buy an unwanted subscription, I might change my mind. Culber looked like he had potential, but wasn't used much. I don't know anything about the third character to make a judgment. But I like Saru. He has such a desire to do his job well and work hard. The scene where the universal translator broke and he was the only one who had bothered to learn other languages just shows he knows how to do stuff without all the fancy do-dads and whats-its. I respect that.

You are just repeating the words of others Zombie. We have all heard them say it because they push that line every day. Push hate about a group and then when called on it say they were only pushing hate about an individual then accuse the others of pushing hate. You do yourself a disservice by listening to them and repeating their words. I am glad to see Webberoni clarified the initial statement and that Webberoni is not one of those pushing those lines.
I voted for Culber in hopes of a good med crew but it would have been good to see what skills each crew person was going to have before deciding.
As this topic has gotten derailed somewhat I am going to remove myself from this thread. Wish everyone well and good luck in the event.
I was wondering about the skills most. Culber is likely to have med, Adira might have eng, and Saru will probably have sci or dip. Does anyone recognize these pics? I'm still on S2. If someone knows the scenes (assuming they've aired already), maybe they can posit a guess at the skills.
I like saru, but culber and adira both could be useful, depending on the skillset.

Perhaps "comprehension was poor" might be more of an accurate statement?
Didn't realize Webberoni was on trial, but thankfully a positive verdict was handed down. No apology needed from anyone!
