I guess it's never come up before in a mega event. Borg Queen was unique, followed by Kortar and T'Kuvma.
It would have been nice if DB had brought another unique to the table in the same way they did in previous megas, eliminating the possibility of players making the OP's mistake, but they're not known for considering us lot
Im happy its a Picard... my first 5* picard, and in the future after this event.. he will be useful as a featured crew, where Borg Queen, T'kuvma, and Kortar are unlikely... unless an "all borg" or "all Klingons" event
Oh don't get me wrong, I like Picard, and that he'll be useful in future, but I reckon if DB are going to shift from "the norm" they could try a little harder to let us know, and help players like the OP not waste resources.
I just been leveling mirror archer and mirror gosh I I've been slowly leveling Tommy gun Dixon for that one node in episode 7 but that's it for my Picard next is 4 or 5 mirror cards for the faction event
Besides, levelling Picards for a Galaxy event? Why, why?
That's even more than a gamble than usual! Galaxy events give bonuses around the traits of the event crew, and the traits of Mirror Picard are entirely unknown and unlikely to be shared with other Picard. Even if variants of Picard gave bonuses (which isn't the case), I'd be extremely surprised if any version of Picard (other than Mirror Picard) did anything useful in this event unless your crew is terrible overall.
We shall know Thursday, but I can't shake the feeling that investing on Picard was a gamble against all odds.
I posted during the event last week. My Festivus "Crazy Eyes" Dax was my best at getting the Super Rare Emitters. Even when her Success Chance was below 30%, she doing good. Multiple times she hit the Emitter at 21%. hard to tell who will shine in a Galaxy Event.
of course, assuming that all Picards were gonna be Bonus Crew was a kind of bad idea, it seems.
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
I have been needlessly updating my Picards because DB can't organise the provision of information in a timely fashion and in accordance with promises. Maybe another 'Do Better' campaign?
I feel sorry for you bro.
Especially when you realize that you wasted valuable "Picard relevant" resources and try to level the 1/5 that guarantees a much better bonus than any guessed and pre leveled 2x crew.
Bonus crew:
• high bonus: event crew
• small bonus: variants of Reed, variants of Dax, variants of Sato, Zhian'tara Odo and all Mirror crew. Picard variants will NOT provide a bonus

They said Event Bonus Crew will be announced on Tuesday. Shan posted it on Monday. What "promise" was broken?

Voyage chrons and components make leveling most cards pretty trivial these days. Phrases like "unleveled Picards" are very confusing as I'm not actually sure why anyone wouldn't level a Picard even independent of an impending event.
I can't be the only one who thinks that ultimately it is DBs fault. Why on earth does this type of information get shared so late? This has nothing to do with licensing etc. It's entirely so that people do make errors in judgement, and potentially feel compelled to spend even more money.
Those of of you crying 'they said Tuesday, but you got it on Monday, so be happy' are victims of DB setting your expectations so low. We should be demanding that they give us the event info weeks in advance not kissing the ring because they saw fit to give it 2 days in advance.
The whole idea of the Do Better campaign was to let them know that we have high expectations of them (because we spend so much money) and that they *must* deliver. The Do Better element was just that, *they* have to do better, not us. Instead we get a sorry we can't do better and everyone just shrugs and goes 'ok'.
I have no dog in this fight, I didn't level anything erroneously or make any assumptions, I've just stumbled into this thread, but it bothers me that so many are blaming the OP when his central complaint is entirely valid. It *is* ridiculous that everything gets left so last minute.
I have no sympathy. You took the gamble; it didn’t pay off.
I assumed Picard variants probably wouldn’t be included given that would mean he would have to be included throughout the mega event. Last time round it was t’kuvma who didn’t have any existing variants, and all discovery crew as secondary. Stood to reason this time around it’d be Mirror Picard and mirror crew as secondary..
If I’d been wrong however I wouldn’t have moaned about it - everyone has access to the same information
I faved the two remaining Picard variants in my roster who weren't yet FE, and started working on them, at the same time as main event variants and mirror crew. I took a gamble, it didn't pay off. A few resources spent doing something that could have been put to better use elsewhere, but no big deal. Not like I wouldn't have been wanting to level those Jean-Lucs up at some point anyway.

Well, whenever Do Better gets mentioned, I feel compelled to chime in. Better communication was absolutely one of the things that we wanted. We also wanted improved accuracy. And that is where DB is saying there has to be a trade-off. I, to a degree, totally understand that.
We're kind of getting what we wanted. I say kind of, because I really have no qualms with when DB chooses to deliver information so long as it's accurate. It's when they flip/flop on the pack or voyage errors that it drives me insane and makes me want to stand on a soap box again.
Now, I really wish they'd provide more event info earlier. Of course, the trade-off was that if we wanted accurate information, we'd have to get it on this schedule. Whether or not that is completely true remains to be seen. We have had a number of errors with packs and bonus crew and threshold rewards in past events. In those instances, I think the feeling of "hey, this information was delayed because it's supposed to be right - and it's still not right?" is justified. Also, if tomorrow rolls around and my Picard variants or CD Quark are getting a 3x bonus, I will be raising all the rabble. But, I do feel it's a little premature to get the pitchforks out now, especially since Shan actually communicated the information early.
So, basically... they've told us that they can't deliver the information we want on the timetable that we want. Timeliness is the trade-off for accuracy. It's up to us to decide if that's good enough for us and to vote accordingly with our participation and our wallets.
For those that spent resources levelling up Picard you have not wasted your resources. Picard comes around in a lot of events so you will be better prepared for when he does later on.

Not sure about 'a lot'. It was almost a year before his first, and if you don't count the mega, he's only been featured in 4.
But I agree with the sentiment. He'll be back around for more.
Regarding the point that bonus crew are negligible for Galaxy Events, I think it's fair to point out that if you did anticipate Picard personae were eligible for event bonuses throughout the month, they'd certainly be worthwhile in subsequent events even if not especially helpful this week. And if you had that expectation, you may as well begin working on them as soon as possible.
I did not have that expectation, though I also didn't have the expectation Picard personae would be excluded from the bonus. I concurred with Dralix about it being a tossup. (I also didn't have any Picards to equip or level, so it was moot for me anyway.)
Also, it occurs to me to point out that it's entirely possible Mirror Jean-Luc Picard will share traits with other Picard personae, and traits are often more important in a Galaxy Event than they are in others, so it could very well still prove useful even in just this event. Obviously, there are some traits it would be less likely to expect; I dunno that in the Mirror Universe, he got to become an exoarchaeologist. But surely he's still a tactician. (He could also be a musician; there's no reason he can't have learned to sing old Terran resistance songs!)
I actually don't have any fully-fused Picards (except the 2*, and I guess technically Stargazer), so I hadn't paid them much attention anyway - put a few levels on Tommy Gun Dixon since he's 3/4, and Enterprise E Picard since he's legendary, but since it's galaxy anyway I mostly just focused on Hoshi until she was done, then went into chron-stockpiling mode. So nothing lost really.
It’s a galaxy event. IMO bonus crew is not nearly as important. Event crew maybe. Having a couple bonus is nice but galaxy is nothing compared to faction.
I do not see the resources I used doing Galen as a waste. I intend to FE all my crew. Voyages have made this look much more possible . I am currently at level 80 with Mirror Spock1/5 but I realize he may not be of any use in the current Galaxy event because Jadzia may top him even with trait bonuses. I just hope my leveling of the threshold reward crew is not set back. But I rarely am full in to Galaxy on first day. I do want to get one copy of each so I can start leveling. I am pleased with voyages so DB set backs are minor. They will get 25 dollars from both my accounts to double up Picard assuming I get the offers.
Frankly this is a unique situation but it does seem like a break in normality -- but I can see it both ways. If it was me, I would have just had oodles of bonus crew as I'd feel like folks would have started thawing or leveling Picards. Would have made factions messy, but galaxies.... well you don't need that many bonus crew just some good ones to compete.
But not at pitchfork level for me, just kinda ok, whatever. Mostly as I feel like we've fought the battle and lost as far as the notification a week beforehand.
Am I the only one who did not automatically assume that Picard variants would receive crew bonus? The featured legendary already falls somewhat outside the realm of standard event crew, so it wasn't a shoe-in or anything, and there's no exact precedent since all of the previous featured legendaries were new, unique characters. It would have been *nice,* but it didn't occur to me to bank on it.
You’re not the only who assumed Picards wouldn’t give a bonus. 4 weeks of Mirror crew, Picards and main event crew variants would have been excessive to say the least.

"needlessly updating my Picards"
All picards are needed at all times. And all spocks.
Except, the info was NOT "withheld". It was actually released HOURS EARLIER {at least} than scheduled......
And people still complain because they DID assume......
