Voyage event test questions and complaints.

Mirror CartmanMirror Cartman ✭✭✭✭✭
Will it be an extra voyage, so I can run two, or will it be instead of the main one.

Do dilemmas count for the dailies.

Do I earn points as it goes, or do I have to recall.

Does it auto recall at the end of the event.

If I run out of antimatter, will I lose my points.

If I run out of antimatter, can I refill.

Does it require tokens to start, or can I send out as many as I want, I.e. when on finishes, send out a second.

No communication at all yet about a new “thing” that launches in 12 hours… should I leave my normal voyage and all crew in dry dock, or can I continue playing the existing features normally?

Also, reset the crew sorting that is negatively impacting pretty much every game feature!

    Dont worry, they play tested.

O% chance of any launch issues.

There should have at least been an in-game mail several days ago, explaining how the event works, or at the very least, pointing to a YouTube video explainer.

There’s a video posted on their YouTube channel about this and their roadmap. I noticed it only because I’m subscribed to their channel. Haven’t watched it yet. I didn’t see an announcement about it anywhere. Yeah an in game announcement would have been nice.

Great, a new way to not get a copy of Vori Defender Chakotay, One Way Ticket Chapel, Admiral Black, or the other ones I cannot remember the names of because I've never gotten a copy!
  • Let's try to help:

"Do dilemmas count for the dailies."
They should do, the same way Faction missions count for dailies on Faction events

Thanks for the heads up. Watched the video, couple things stand out to me:

“Encounters” every two minutes is plain stupid. This will lend itself to becoming another marathon of endurance to boring things.

Having gauntlet matches as the only encounter type is extremely short sighted, not thought through, and poorly executed. You call this a voyage event, but in reality it is simply a gauntlet event with a 2-3 minute dead period between rounds. This not only sounds boring, it is boring.

I was pleased, however, that the voyage event type is in beta. Here is how to fix it, and this comes from someone who actually plays the game:

1: encounters need to be at the 2 hour mark, and take the place of dilemmas. None of this every two minute business.

    2. Dilemmas at the two hour mark should be unique to each voyage event, and in the event of a failed or returned voyage, the dilemmas are identical on the voyage that is sent out on subsequent trips during the event.

    3. Dilemmas cycle through all game modes. This includes fleetboss battles, gauntlet, shuttles, galaxy, and expedition. At the dilemma you have to solve the challenge, or your voyage ends and it begins to return home. You can use shuttle boosts during that dilemma type.
    4. During the event, if a voyage fails, voyage revival tokens cant be used, but you can refresh your crew for dilithium. Or, the voyage starts its return home and once it returns, you can start a new one and your lightyears traveled between the two voyages is additive, but only for the “outgoing” travel. Return travel dosnt count.
    5. Points earned during event are a direct representation of how many light years you traveled on the voyage.
    6. Event is a “passive” event in that you only have to check in at the dilemma mark, and your voyage will stay stuck at the dilemma mark until you act on it. You dont have to watch lines of poorly written and non-relevant dialog scroll by while you wait for your next task. People who are the most efficient at solving dilemmas in a timely fashion will have voyages that go the farthest in the 4 day event window, and will win.
    7. Boosts. You can earn a warp ten upgrade, which lets you travel 1.25x normal voyage speed when you complete the midweek objective event, and you guys can make that more “p2p”.
    8. No anti-matter. Voyage ends when dilemma cant be solved. You can continue with dilithium refresh, or return to starbase (and you can speed up the return with dilithium)
    9. Crew fatigues after solving dilemma. Can refresh at any time with dilithium. Or, you could introduce boosts similar to shuttle boosts, and maybe even make them into packs or rewards for other events/tasks.

There you have it, and you are welcome for the free advice on how to clean-up the trainwreck that will start in 3 hours.

So is this basically just a matter of loading a voyage with your best gauntlet crew?

Without putting much thought into it (and no Quipment), I was able to get skills to 12.5/12/8.5/7/6.5/6 with a mix of 12 good gauntlet crew. It would ordinally easily hit 10+ hours, despite prioritizing gauntlet stats over actual voyage stats... we shall see how it goes.

    UPDATES:
    • the first round of gauntlet matches came at 0:30 --> 3 single-skill matches
    • my voyage may have glitched at the 60 minute mark, since my little ship graphic made it to the end of the line, but I didn't get a second round of 3 gauntlet matches
    • the second round of gauntlet matches came at 1:30 --> 3 single-skill matches
    • the third round of gauntlet matches came at 3:30 --> 3 single-skill matches & 1 two-skill match
    • the fourth round of gauntlet matches came at 5:30 --> 2 single-skill matches & 2 two-skill matches
    • the fifth round of gauntlet matches came at 7:30 --> 2 single-skill matches & 2 two-skill matches, one of which was a 'pink' difficulty
    • the sixth round of gauntlet matches came at 9:30 —> 3 single-skill matches & 2 two-skill matches

    NOTES:
    • each gauntlet encounter shows the skill(s) for each match, allowing you to map out the 3 or more crew to use in order to win each match of the round, since each crew member can only be used once per round
    • all crew members seem to refresh between rounds, so it seems to be most important to have as many of the 15 skill combos covered by your 12 crew members as possible, which should naturally give you a couple crew strong in each of the 6 single skills
    • any victorious crew member will see all skills NOT used in the matchup get boosted, so try to use a single skill to win two-skill matchups (ie: use a high DIP with no SCI to win a DIP-SCI matchup, so that crew member will boost their other 2 skills, whereas a DIP-SCI vs DIP-SCI matchup will only see that crew member's 1 other skill get boosted)

So far i cant see the point of mentioning preimary crew or variants of them, if their score is so low that the best gauntlet crew outscores them without event bonussses

Gold and silver skills were not in the voyage set up screen, but they are the same as my main voyage.

    First Encounter at thirty minutes.

Third match up, I used a Crew who matched both Skills, with higher Rolls {by far} than the enemy. My Crew scored ZERO points. So, glitchy from the jump?!?!?

I noticed the same thing. Look for yellow highlights while ignoring the green highlights.

Admiral_C, the stats that are highlighted in green are the ones that have been boosted by having not been used by a crew during an Encounter. If you can solve an Encounter with a crew who has only one yellow stat out of the two stats that are being tested, your entire crew will get a boost to the other two stats of the crew that won the Encounter.

    Two problems so far:

    1) The Voyage event can only be accessed through the Event Hub. I had thought that the game had completely lost my Voyage Event ship when I clicked on the typical voyage hub in the top left and displayed an entirely new ship. This behavior is different from Faction events, in which the event action is clearly demarcated in the same place as the normal shuttle run section, so this is more a UI problem than a gameplay problem.

    2) Are Encounters meant to take place every 30 minutes, or do they occur with much reduced frequency as the voyage in the Voyage Event progresses? If so, I watched the Voyage Event directly when my 30 minute mark came, and an Encounter occurred. The ship hit the right side of the bar at the top of the Voyage Event screen when that happened. I didn't at the 60 minute mark, and when I came back to it, the ship again hit the right side of the Voyage Event bar, but no Encounter launched. When I watched the Voyage Event as 90 minutes (1.5 hours) elapsed, the ship again hit the right side of the Voyage Event bar, and I got another Encounter. However, when I watched the Voyage event as 120 minutes, the ship again hit the right side of the Voyage Event bar, but no encounter launched. There was also no Dilemma at that 2 hour mark. There was an Encounter at 210 minutes (3.5 hours), but not at 150 or 300 minutes; nor presumably at 180 minutes, 240, or 270 minutes (when I couldn't check immediately), despite the ship remaining at the right side of the Voyage Event bar.

Right now, it feels like we're at risk of losing the ability to perform Encounters, though that may not be the case. In any case, the ship should only reach the end of the bar when it's time for another Encounter, making the ship's progress across the bar another UI problem.

The rewards for Encounters also seem paltry (1200 VP, though this increased to 2000 VP in the 450 minute encounter) compared to letting a Voyage Event voyage go (480 VP per loot drop after 90 minutes of Voyage time, 720 VP after 210 minutes, 960 VP after 330 minutes), so they may be less important to continuing strategy than I might have thought initially. This seems like a potentially major game problem, particularly if Encounters are relatively rare occurrences during a Voyage Event voyage. It wouldn't likely be worth getting high proficiency crew in lieu of high stat crew.

    Really confused here.

How do I get the skill bonuses, and there is no explanation about the skill usage here.

Recall your voyage, and start from scratch. I made some mistakes in my roster too, and recalled. No damage done. Just a second round with a better crew.

Good suggestion. But, I think I will just let it proceed to learn more. I am heavily waited on the primary and secondary skills. It could be helpful too.

Edit: I did this on all my accounts. I do have a problem with one account, where I am very weak on engineering.

Edit2: I have about 5 crew on the voyage in all my accounts that have made gauntlets. So I am not without some good ones. But it really is my weighting of the crew skills. It does seem all my accounts are weak on engineering. But, my main is the weakest on engineering.

I didn't see the color, but one of them was definitely green and worked. But a different one had numbers but rolled a zero and failed me. Lost 50 AM when I should have had a reward.

It must have been that. I noticed it in the third one at 3.5 hours. So, a different kind of glitch.....

Green is just all the ones "boosted" from previous victories, apparently. Like if someone has Med/Sci/Dip and the only Skill used is Dip, the other two get boosted going into the next one.

It looks as if the progress bar does not match the timer. My voyage has been at the "end" for more than a half an hour with no dilemma/event to occur.
