I have one in reverse - buying trainers with honor! I cringe now that I ever did that
There was another thread for the reverse. I bought trainers, too. But it allowed me to improve crew to the point of not needing to buy trainers anymore.
Agreed. This is not something to regret doing, imo, when indeed, the alternative — that is, not using Honor to purchase trainers or replicator rations when you are in your early months of playing and are in sore need of them — is that you sit there and stagnate for months instead of growing and strengthening your crew much faster. Eventually you'll get to a point where you don't need to spend Honor on such things, but there's no shame in doing so when you have a serious roadblock (and aren't otherwise playing "beyond your means" by trying to work on more crew than you currently have the ability to work on).

...i have done so many of these things... and yep, will scarlett was airlocked... i still have ev suit archer in a message because i don't want him clogging up my crew slots.
I just airlocked a 1/4 because I needed 200 more honor for a citation and didn't feel like waiting on my Voyage to get back.
I have like 10 1/4's from voyages that I haven't even given a 3* trainer to because...really, why bother?
I sometimes buy the $10 offers +chronotons + credits even though I have the guy immortalized just to see if I can get a 5* behold
I buy event packs not wanting anyone in it. Like you, in hope of getting a legendary behold while hoping I don’t get the event legendary and blow my DYC
I've been playing for less than three months. I cringe at most of these things. Wasting ad warps on 4 chron missions seems really wasteful. A few weeks ago, the trainer thing would have been on top of my list. Opening 30 faction missions seems pretty bad, but if you're using time boosts it makes sense. Tanking the missions seemed horrible until I got the new Darth Bashir and needed a million low level faction items. Now I'm just glad you gave me the idea.
Actually this has flipped for me as I have played the game longer. That is, earlier on I would dismiss some 1/4 characters because I could not keep them all in my crew, but as my number of Immortals has risen, I have more capacity to hold onto them, waiting for additional copies to show up. The introduction of Voyages, and the ability to add Stars to Super Rare characters from this game feature, has made it more desirable to keep 1/4's, as there is now a higher chance of getting them eventually FF'd.

Not when you have 42 non-FF non-FE purples in different state of completion. I counted (was 43 before this event - had lv1 2/4 Arik Soong). And another 44 FE but not FF. You sooner or later reach understanding that for the most part purple is just another blue. Golds? Yes, golds are much more problematic unless you are whale, but most non-unique (currently only voyage ones are) purples are to be discarded as needed - unless they are 3/4, chance that you'll get 4 SAME new purples from voyage before loot table updates in half year is pretty small so 3/4 are definitely worth keeping for if you aren't critically slot-impaired. Lv1 1/4 purples are really just fodder after you reliably reach 6 hours.

Thats the thing, at that point, the more you discard the longer the situation lasts....
I've not discarded a 1/4 for space since at least Voyages came out simply because I can immortalize, especially event 4s, and a lot go to the freezer to be swapped around.
I was wondering: I already have a FF Bell Riots Jadzia, but I have a handful of Event Packs currently unclaimed. Do I HAVE to claim them before they expire, or can I wait for the new event pack after this one to take effect and THEN claim them? Especially because my 72-hour double your rewards offer timer will reset tomorrow afternoon so I was hoping to wait for the next event pack to come into effect and then start claiming and hope to double that crew. I have no need for any more Bell Riots Jadzia cards!

You have to use event packs for the event you bought them for. If you don't use them by the time the pack is taken off, you lose those pulls.

Not really. I have choice either to throw my 4* voyage crew in freezer and get maybe 20 more spaces at cost of dropping from 8h to 6h and losing on purples I get this way... or continue throwing out my airlock ones that are not additional stars for 80+ crew I have and replace only those that go in freezer for they uselessness. Second works not just better, but MUCH better.

There is not "current event pack" marker, there is marker for each event. So you will lose your packs - at least until DB will decide to offer this pack again for a week if not forever.

I'd be investing in a round or two of slots if the only 4s you can freeze are the your voyage crew....
Whereas I am 34 stars short of FF on every 4 in the game...lol. (mostly pack exclusive ones, like I have 0 stars on Marshall of France Q...)
Same, I'm at 35 stars, soon to be 34 when I get my Achievement Fierce Guinan. The only 4* I don't have fully fused that's currently in the portal is Captain Kurn.
I'm at the point where buying a pack is just for a chance at a legendary, most of the time.
Kicking people out of your fleet because you think their chosen Captain name sounds stupid, you don’t like the look of their chosen avatar or they’ve not changed their Avatar in far too long.
Despite them being good participants and have a strong crew base.
😈
A new player would cringe at me for spending enough money to fully fuse a 5/5 event crew after going through 15 packs
Not only new players, seasoned players as well. You’re barking mad spending real coin on anything more than the monthly Dilithium pack.
More money than sense some people.

It baffles me how anyone can throw ridiculous amounts of real currency away on a game.

It’s what I spend on entertainment. I think it’s silly to spend hundreds of dollars on a ticket to a football game. Or $100 on a fake wrestling match.

I agree completely.
Some people go out to the movies or to concerts and sporting events, others enjoy checking on their game every ten minutes.
I have fun with this, whereas the other kinds of events just don't catch my interest. -shrug-
I don't know why people have to act so disparaging about it.

It’s because they don’t spend which puts them behind the 8-ball. Sorry bro. I’m not worried about that.

+1.
This is my entertainment. I have two jobs and can't ride my motorcycle very much, so portable entertainment that is engaging is a fairly good use of my money...and it is way cheaper than going to a bar, game, or concert and I can play anywhere I have reception and a few minutes.

2. I plan to if I'll have Dil on the next sale.
And it's already 150 anyway. Just 85 incomplete 4* stars and 35 golds it's problem even when your cadet crew is cut to just 6 people (+2 for Arena).
Gh, third of my Voyage-useful 4* are already in Cryo.
This happened to me once, too.
Captain Level: 95
VIP Level: 12
Unique Crew Immortalized: 525

Yea, but it's at least one that aged well for a second run.
No problem with it. I was just surprised to see 38 new notifications to realize it was this old thread from last December.
