Klingon Marauders are boycotting the event “Triple Threat (rerun)”

A number of our members lost out on both VP and rank in the last event, ranging from significantly affecting a player fighting for top 3 in the event to others missing out on a top 1000 finish. This has resulted in loss of rewards for some players, most notably 5* Mirror Troi. DB have refused to offer any proper apology or compensation to these players, or even acknowledge that they may have lost rewards. They did send out a 5* Mirror Picard to the entire player base as a fake apology for the disruptions in general. The reason I say ‘fake’ is because many players already have Picard 5/5, and he won’t be available again in the game to add stars to. So a 1/5 Picard is worth only a small amount of honour to those that paid, and only serves to undermine that purchase.
I’ll make this blunt. We play hard, we play fairly and we always communicate respectfully with DB and others in the game. However we do not feel that DB have been investing to improve the game, we do not feel they have been treating players fairly and we do not feel that DB either respects or listens to what we have to say, and finally we have had enough and we refuse to play their game! Period.

Are you "The" Christopher who regularly gets podium event ranks? ("The" as meant in honor for your service to the Federation hehe).
You prioritize what you believe to be appropriate. Allow others the same courtesy.

I believe you may be in the wrong forum. Perhaps you were looking for a UNICEF forum, or one centered on foreign policy or NGOs.
This one is about the digital game "Star Trek Timelines" and focuses primarily on things that happen in and around that game.
I'll give Mr Kite the benefit
Sorry, but it may be well intentioned, but that's a real troll move. Its like waving the red cape in front of a cartoon bull.
Telling folks who are angry to shut up because their anger isn't about anything important just makes folks more angry. And if you are ignorant enough about human nature to understand that, then frankly, you get what you get.
Yeah its a first world problem, but its also a damn internet forum.
In response to Mr. Kite, I will volunteer extra hours this week so I can ethically justify the amount of time I spent discussing this outrage.
The players venting are giving DB a chance to make things right. I hope DB understands that.
My hat is off to KM.
Finally! I've been waiting 9 months for someone to make that joke.
I'm not saying shut up, I'm just saying put it in perspective. Is anyone surprised by this glitch? Yet, you all still make purchases all the same. And I hope people realize they are spending money on cartoon images from a futuristic TV show, which in themselves are completely worthless. And didn't the glitch affect everyone in the game (I realize some people's strategies for the event were disrupted but still)? Did we think this game could never crash? All I'm saying is a phone game crashed and people act like its worst thing in the world.
It's not the crash that most of us are annoyed about.

Observing impacts on our fleet including on morale - I appreciate what you're doing, thank you!
Several of our captains barely missed Mirror Troi and others missed other ranks when the game crashed. Many of those same captains had also already immortalized Mirror Picard, as we added the citation early to share with our squads.
e.g. One captain woke partway through sleep to open his 3000 sorryton email to push back over 1000, after being 450-500 late evening prior. Crashed in the middle of cashing in rares, finished just shy of Troi, chrons and sleep schedule wasted, without real recompense. (Avoidable?) crashes and other issues are one thing. Lack of proper acknowledgment and care for captains after the fact is another.
(The situation highlighting the need for updating event rewards to reflect the current level of play and competition. To a percentage-based or other better reward system to address influx. Not very Trek for players to have to push ever harder, for the same modest rewards.)
As for Mirror Picard.
It's a challenge to put in civil words the absurd, award-worthy level of disconnect that it takes to do this (without assumption of malice). I could repeat consensus (not "some" captains') points from a dozen threads and many off-forum who are blindsided by this. Or, given seeming lack of grasp of much else, in the only terms that Disruptor Beam might understand:
As of this moment, I cease to spend another hard earned dime in the game, until our 50,000 honour is refunded
- continuation of even monthly card depending on how people like the captain described above are treated, as well as more thoughtful actions, integrity, responsibility, and not spreading so thin while expecting players to take the fall for the foreseeable and avoidable consequences.
These are good people and enthusiastic captains. They deserve better. All players and Star Trek deserve better.

You realize what many are having a problem with is DB's handling of things after the fact, not the crash/glitch itself right? And because they complain they're acting like it's the worst thing in the world? No, they're venting their frustration in the appropriate place, an internet forum for the game and the company that produces it.
For the benefit of Mr. Kite... there will be a show tonight... on trampoline..
Yes, that is me. KM usually edging me out for first place lol
The uproar isn't over the server crash. Had the server crashed and they rewarded Chrons per usual, there would have been a small segment of the population that was MORE adversely affected (the ones on the cusp of a ranking) but otherwise life would have gone on.
Instead, they sent out an "Apology Picard". This is not a bug or a glitch, but a HUMAN choice.
Now, awarding a Picard had NOTHING to do with the event itself. Had they chosen Mirror Troi instead, it would have been a very appropriate, given that she is likely the "best" thing that anyone who missed the cutoff due to the crash. I feel like awarding Mirror Troi would have been the most acceptable thing (and is something they have done in the past with an even that went awry).
Mega event cards, in case you are unaware, are awarded in each of the 4 mega events. If you want to fully-fuse them, you need to purchase a double-up or an Honorable citation. Mirror Picard was the first ever mega event crew that is ALSO main cast. This gave very high incentive for many people to go out of their way to obtain that last star, spending either $25 or 50,000 honor.
In awarding Picard, any of the players who invested in an additional Picard now get significantly less value out of their compensation (550 honor, to be exact).
I understand and respect why KM is boycotting the next event, therefore all I say is: you're angry, you feel it's justified, go for it. As for Mr. Kite's opinion... I say it's also justified, and knows how this shows DB's derailment, and might have been affected himself. So, instead of throwing metaphorical stones in his direction, save them for DB
I support my friends in KM with their sit-out, as a unified front you can't dispute the power of the #1 fleet in the game.
I'm not a fleet, I'm just me, but I will be sitting right along side them. I'm turned off enough to not even log into the game, read the constant vitriol on the forums/reddit/LINE chat, or even spin my Dabo spin for the day. In 2 years, I haven't missed a day to log in, including the day I buried my Dad or when I tore up my knee in Alaska or had surgery. Today is the first day I'm not likely to log in and I'm not messed up about it. This weekend will be the first event I've skipped and I won't lose an ounce of sleep on it.
I've spent 2 years and more money than most are comfortable reading on this game, and I don't regret a minute or a cent of it. However, at the end of the day, I am buying an entertainment service from a company in exchange for my money and my time. I'm not entertained, I'm annoyed. I'm disappointed. I helped kickstart the original DB: Do Better campaign, went to Boston and met with DB in person, I've kept as open and positive a line of communication as I can. I need a restoral of faith to come from leadership, and I am sincerely hoping the unfortunate start to the new year will be that catalyst.
Also - side note to you, the player and reader:
Please don't bash others for their opinions. Everyone here has a different reason for playing, everyone here has a different way and goal of playing, everyone here has a completely different everything than the next person. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if they are expressing it, please don't troll or discount them for it. Move along to something more productive. We will *never* gain ground and traction with change as a divided and bickering base, but only unified.
Thank you.
This. As I put some more thought into why DB didn't just give everyone a Mirror Troi instead of the ill-received Mirror Picard (one theory was that a 5th Mirror Picard had ALWAYS been intended as a free gift from the beginning and that DB simply decided never to tell anyone), I think I came to a realization.
Although it is a possibility that this was always the plan, I think its likely that DB also realized that if they gave Mirror Troi to everyone, it would make quite a mess of the Gauntlet since Mirror Troi was designed to be such a strong Gauntlet character. I know that certainly was one of the reasons why I wanted her (besides her cool artwork). Same problem would have arisen if DB had rewarded a free Kahless to everyone (as some people suggested they do....which would've created the same uproar from those who purchased with 100k). Picard IS a strong gauntlet character, but since all you need is 1/5 to be affective in gauntlet and 2/5 3/5 4/5 5/5 wouldn't make a difference, they probably felt (erroneously) that "awarding" a free Picard would create less ripples with the STT community.
DB was being mindful of the Gauntlet community, without considering the rest of the cash/honor spending overall community. I think the "rewarded Chrons per usual" would've at least maintained the DB:DB status quo...
*Sorry for your loss, Frank
