Fun-sponge has a good ring. I'll start using it for her graduation version.

Her character on the show was truly a wet blanket in that era, and she probably remained that way until she'd spent a good amount of time on the Shenzhou, and finally removed the stick from her backside. I'm sure it was because of how she was brought up, which makes me think that Vulcans are probably the race whom I'd least want to party with. (Klingons being #1, most likely. B) )

Nah... I hear the Vulcan monks who trained as actuaries are pretty wild after a few glasses of Vulcan tea...

    So not the Klingons.
    A. You'd have to eat the food.
    B. The drinks would knock you out too fast to have fun.
    C. Someone would probably kill you during the festivities.

In fairness to the Vulcans, they should rank above the Borg.

    ...Though not much.

Oh, certainly. It's easy for me to relate to that part of her arc. I had something of a micro version of her Shenzhou experience in my early 20's when I took a cross-cultural studies course in Barbados. (I was such a stick in the mud I literally fell asleep at a club one night.) It's one of the things about Burnham that has endeared her to me.

This event, though, is just beyond the pale. There's no way whatsoever any of these scenarios are remotely plausible. It doesn't affect my game play any; I run the missions that don't require five crew members regardless of what the assignment is. The premise, of having to convince young Burnham to chill, is perfectly fine. Demoting admirals to yeomen, though? Nah.

What's it like partying with a bunch of Klingons?

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

  • She is indeed a wet sponge, but the missions are exaggerated well beyond the checks and balances of Vulcan behaviour among other species and beyond Federation values too. I guess that's why I find it amusing, it's just caricature, a setup for the 2 Q's to fix up with huge parties and extreme frivolity.

Don't worry folks, the wet sponge has nearly had her day, and we can all enjoy the rest of the event by spending vast quantities of chronitons on getting the characters we really want, and breathe huge sighs of relief as we airlock yet another Discovery crewmember to satisfy our dislike of the new series.

  • By all means, please airlock your Disco characters. Especially the ones they select for power creep. You’re doing me a favor. B)

There are three things that rub me the wrong way about these missions, but I want to emphasize that none of this holds any genuine importance for me.

    1. It's so outrageous that I can't buy it. It's unconvincing.
    2. I've been defensive about Burnham and Disco for months now, and I guess it's wearing thin to have either be the butt of jokes.
    3. It also reminds me too much of the tired trope of the introvert growing by learning to have fun.

I, for one, hope there's a steady stream of Disco crew members for the haters to airlock. You know, so they can keep enjoying the game.
  • Me too. My Disco crew are not just some of my best, they're my favourites too. I've got 3 Burnie's now, Stamets, two Saru's, no Culber unfortunately, Ash Tyler, and Tilly was the first gold I won in an event. I'd like Georgiou at some point and Lorca. Oddly enough, I like Burnie mostly because she generates so much hate. Makes me like her more. I'm a bit odd like that sometimes.

I'm envious of your Tilly! I fell short of all the 5*'s in the Disco mega-event, but she's the one I most wanted. I especially enjoy the relationship she's developing with Burnham. They're my favorite pair to watch together since Bashir and O'Brien.

I have nothing against Discovery except that it's on a pay channel that I can't afford.

However in this game, Burnham is awfully bossy and annoying for someone who just graduated.

Gee, was my phaser set to kill? Oppsie, My bad.........

Yeah and she wasn’t even graduating from Starfleet... just graduating into unemployment because of speciesism (is that even a word? Guess it is now because no autocorrect).
Yeah guess who wasn’t chosen for the Vulcan Expeditionary Group despite graduating top of her class at the Vulcan Science Academy.

While the dialogue in game is exaggerated, it probably does more reflect her character at the time as portrayed by the show or what little we see from her “flashbacks” with Sarek at graduation and when she boards the Shenzou with Sarek and meets Georgiou. While nothing is explicitly said, I guess she gets to join Starfleet directly as a transfer from the Vulcan Science Academy rather than attend Starfleet Academy.

That Burnham was definitely a wet blanket that makes other Vulcans look like coked-up party fiends and an all night rave.
