[EMEOWGENCY] 2nd Time - Starbase Donations Reaching Impass!

Since the thread has appurrently not been copied over to the new forums, I'm gunna restart it here.

Starbases need new rooms, otherwise fleet members will not get any more chronitons within a week or less!

This has been posted way over a month ago for the first time and so far, there hasn't been any official reactions or a set date on when the starbases are getting fixed for indefinite chroniton rewards (100) purr day.

Are you almost done all of your rooms completely, or bottlenecked on one part? My fleet has three rooms that are ready except for holoemitters, so what I was thinking was...why not make those drop like crazy from the Arena/PVP ship battles? That could at least help finish off the rooms that are stuck...and then we hit the wall of being done with every room, if that's what you are talking about!

Recently Voyages were added to the game, allowing us to easily acquire many hundreds of free chronitons every day. Given this development, is it really an 'emergency' that more Starbase rooms are not yet ready to be added to the game for your fleet to work on getting just one hundred a day?

There is a F2P playerbase which can't get even past 4 hours in Voyages yet and therefore not claim too many chronitons through them. The 100 free chronitons are still impurrtant in my opinion. Meow!

  • Seeing as our starbase has 3 rooms maxed and the other 4 are at level 4 holoemitters are in need supply and there drop rate seem to have been nurfed. We have also had many discussions on what will happen when we max our starbase out, will we get those chronotons or not?
  • Eventually everyone will face the same thing and got no chron bonus so it is not like anyone lose anything.

Unless you plan ahead, and tank your own contributions to max the chrons, which is asinine that it would be necessary for a 'daily' reward.

DB didnt have to add chrons at all. They gave us a temporary gift and instead of saying thanks people are demanding the temporary gift be made permanent. We all knew the cost/benefit of lvling up starbases quickly. You have recieved many rewards with your higher lvl starbases. Better event ranks, longer voyages for better rewards, 50 extra chrons every day when most fleets can only hit the 50 chron reward consistently, and better recruiting.

I think it would have been better if you had said there are new F2P players who cannot do a 4 hour Voyage.
Assuming they are actually actively participating in the game, within one month an F2P player should have a crew/ship that is strong enough to make it through a 4 hour Voyage (which drops about a hundred chronitons, and can easily be done at least 2 times per day). I would say after about 3 to 4 months of playing, an F2P player should get to the point where they can make it through a 6 hour Voyage.
  • Come on man. You can get 500 free chrons from voyages every day. They’ll give you new rooms, but probably not when you want them.
  • Once the starbase is finished just add a room, not accessible before fully finishing the base, that is a replicator dump or something. Infinite progress bar of donation material to hit the daily awards. Also, we have no way of knowing this isn't already the case since no one has finished their starbase yet.

They could have tried to balance the components a bit more. I'm sitting on 20000+ nanopolymers. About enough to replicate a rare item lol
  • I wouldn’t mind if DB’s plan is to have the chroniton gravy train end once you max the starbase. I mind a little more if it wasn’t planned that way and they just didn’t think about what would happen when people maxed the starbase.

I definitely don’t mind that the starbase’s maximum bonuses are where they are - any more of a boost feels like it would be unbalancing. If they do have a plan for something for us to do with starbase parts after the base is maxed, I’d be satisfied if it were just a “starbase-part sink” that lets us throw parts into a hole to earn the daily fleet chroniton bonus.

I wouldn’t even insist that we get anything else back for throwing parts into the hole, though if we did, turning the parts into replicator rations seems sensible (after all, starbase parts basically are replicator rations if you have no other use for them). Of course, voyages are already giving us an unholy glut of replicator rations far beyond what we have credits or daily replicator uses to exploit, but that’s for a different thread.
  • I still think a replicator room would be good. Made mostly of nanopolymer. Our fleet makes 50 chrons a day which is a nice boost, and voyages nicer still. These two have changed gameplay quite a bit.

I think there does need to be a cap on starbases but I'm wondering whether they are thinking about changes sideways rather than just upgrading the rooms, which I assume would be easier to code than new creations.

I know it must be frustrating for crews who have completed their starbase but I assumed, from what I heard, that development was in progress and it wasn't a given that the development would be complete before some fleets maxed out. To be honest I'd prefer a revamp of shuttle missions next, to have different levels - times /difficulties / choice of mission (eg medical / diplomatic etc) to allow variety. At the moment there's little strategy there just set and forget. I find it tedious as anything, but necessary.

Not anymore. On today's voyage I only had 165 chrons before having to spend dil. That was at about the 4-1/2 hour mark. It's been like that for some time now.

You can run more than one voyage in a day, yaknow.

@ all who think what I'm saying is "asking for too much": DB finally realized that they had to do something to make the game fun to play again. The 100 daily "free" chronitons from starbases are one of those features and it encourages people to join fleets or found new fleets on their own to purrticipate even more in the game ... which also gives DB positive waves of feedback (and money, if the new people like it).

Yes, of course, we have the Voyages now, and they are the other new feature that give us "free" chronitons, but they take away crew we were able to use for shuttles, so now we have to plan ahead which crew to use on Voyages and which crew on shuttles. There are people who simply don't have enough crew to reliably succeed in shuttles AND fill a 4+ hour voyage, especially during faction events.

You know, I could say the same about adwarpers: I'm a PC user and I never adwarp because I don't have this feature. When adwarps were borked for some time, I could have said the same like "you know, I never had adwarps, so why do you complain about adwarps being borked ... you have voyages and starbases for chronitons to warp missions, stop complaining about luxury being taken away from you" ...

You see my point? The starbase is a new feature and I'm quite sure it wasn't meant to be temporary. With voyages having received the new "item only" drop chance in dilemmas, chronitons have decreased by about 20 percent for each voyage in average. With the starbases filled very soon, we lose even more chronitons we had for that time when starbases were introduced.

Which means: The game is again less fun to play and it might drive all those new players away again which could probably spend money on the game to help DB making it better, and we all could benefit from a better game, right? :)

It's pretty obvious that they intended for the chrons to be available in perpetuity when they put it in the daily tasks menu.

My fleet is probably looking at it's last day of full rewards and I'd estimate that we're 2-3 days from having all rooms completed. I hope that a solution is implemented in that time.

Of course, i am sure thats DB top priority after just 30% dumped staff. :D

  • Great points Eris.
  • If you want, you can all join my fleet in the meantime and then go back to your old fleet if/when they fix the issue. I have room for 45 players and you can pretty much guarantee yourself a month or two of "free 100 daily chronitons"

    Fleet: Years of Hell
  • Hi all. This *is* an issue. It's not necessarily an "emergency" but seriously, once our starbases are fully upgraded, we'll have all these polymers and aluminums, etc. just accumulating for no reason (except replicator fuel...)

Surely a system can be devised to
    1. donate these components daily
    2. continue to receive chroniton rewards

think "starbase maintenance"... chief obrien stuff to keep it working order...

Just because we were getting up to 100 chrons a day for donating to a starbase doesn't warrant us becoming entitlement driven. There are 1000 other bugs/issues that should be addressed before we're worried about more starbase rooms.

Entitled? 'Daily tasks' is a pretty clear statement. We don't necessarily need more rooms to fix the daily tasks.
  • Fleets with members who maxed their daily donations beyond the Daily Targets were UNKNOWINGLY shortening the amount of chronitons they would receive overall because the developers did not explain that starbases only had a limited amount you could donate into. If the starbase donations were not meant to be perpetual, then they should NOT have Daily Targets... it should have been 1x Tiered Achievements, like Gauntlet Rounds or Captain Levels...

    +1

  • Yes, they should have just labeled the Chrontiton part not a Daily Target so people couldn't be using that as a justification for why they are entitled to chrontitons in perpetuity no matter if all the rooms in the starbase are completely built.

Sometimes I just have to be sarcastic on the forums otherwise I will explode. Its obvious why its in the daily target which is to keep the interface as simple as possible to reduce the number of things that can go wrong when they add new stuff. It also helps to reduce the amount of clutter on the screen overall. I am using overall a lot today and I don't know why.

I believe the overall term you are looking for is 'easy way out'.
  • I posted this in Fleet Central before i saw this thread. I think it fits here better for discussion.

When a starbase is maxed, rather than feeling like a loss is then incurred untii more rooms are added, how about making the chrons the reward for reaching the daily honor targets?

Everyday claiming them would be a reminder of achieving the starbase & how working together was fun & rewarding.

Would keep the momentum going & be a reward reinforcing teamwork. Right now our starbase is level 32 & only needs holos & i can sense the feeling of letdown now that we aren't building with same intensity.

  • Why are you surprised that we have something with no clear path beyond a certain point? Stand by for Chrons to go back to the old max of 30, 3 times a day if you do not do voyages,
