What this might allow for, is making a mega event which incorporates updated versions of previous events. In this way, we get a mix of new events and re-runs. From a recent poll Would you like more re-runs of past events?
Rule 125, with Captain Nog as the 5*. During this event the community voted to absolve the Ferengi Traditionalists in support of the Ferengi Alliance. I'd like to see that choice carried forward, which perhaps would open a spot for a new faction, such as something like Unimatrix Zero.
Even if people aren't keen on this particular idea, I'd like to suggest that with whatever mega event is chosen that perhaps some portion of the individual events within the mega event could be updated re-runs and that most of the crew involved are existing, with ideally one or at most two new crew per event. Perhaps even changing the overall reward structure, and making it percentage based, such as being discussed in Should event rewards be more evenly spread?.
We are all downstream from each other and ourselves, therefore choose to be relaxed and groovy. Consider participating in civil discourse, understanding the Tardigrade, and wandering with the Subspace Eddies.
I would have voted Borg had you given the option (why were so many options left off the table?). The Borg are truly an underused resource in this game. It's somewhat criminal that there isn't even a Borg faction. There needs to be...
I don't want a second Borg mega-event simply because I don't even know who we could have in it. Especially because we already have the queen bee herself. I mean I guess we could get a version of Hugh from that Lore two-parter, more Seven of Nine is always good, Assimilated Phlox would be a great addition, and we could re-run one or two already existing crew. But just 5 characters cannot a mega-event make.
But I do want a Borg faction for sure.
If they did it they'd probably go off that next gen episode with all the alternate Enterprises where one of them was from somewhere the Borg had taken over. Then they could fill the event with non cannon assimilated versions of pretty much any Next Gen/DS9 era characters that they felt like adding.
i would like to offer DB the suggestion to start special rewards for mega events. Right now we have 4 events tied together with a story, but i would suggest to tie together the scores and ranking. Some people kill on the galaxy events, and dont play faction, or the other way around. But what if it actually mattered? If all 4 of your rankings and points were totaled and averaged for a GRAND RANKING and GRAND POINT TOTAL with special Grand rewards Like citations, or one time only crew? Then everyone would have a reason to play each event and try do well in it for the special rewards.

Forgive me for going off on a crazy tangent here for a bit, but this got me thinking. What you described is a situation which begs the logical question: Once the Borg have assimilated all races, what do they do next? Their whole M.O. has been adding other races' biological and technological distinctiveness to their own, so when that's been accomplished, what drives their existence? Surely, at that point, they would need to pursue other interests, but what?
Borg art? Borg science? Borg music? The collective seems to lack the curiosity to become explorers of new worlds or new scientific achievements. Perhaps this lack of a reason for their existence would cause splinter groups to form and rebel against the collective. One or several Borg "civil wars" might be fought... but again, to what end? What would the rebels be seeking? Individuality, perhaps? And thus, would such splintering away from a collective mind in search of something more be regarded as proof that any society of sentient beings will eventually always culminate in said beings seeking the freedom to be who and what they choose to be?
(P.S. I swear I'm not high right now. )

Ummm, hello? Don't we have a forum here, and doesn't it allow polls also? So why are we having to sign up for another account to vote for a mega event? omg
Unfortunately, the forums only account for a relatively small percentage of the player base, and so the idea was probably that more people have accounts with Google than they do with the forums.
And requiring an account to vote is a bonus way to make sure people only vote once.
It’s not perfect, but if I were them, I wouldn’t have foreseen this being a big problem. After all, a lot of players use Android, and a lot of people have Google accounts for all sorts of different reasons. (Not to mention the prevalence of Google Sheets in the Ready Room.)
I hear that alot but am not so sure the forums are a small percentage statement is true. 14.7 thousand people laid eyes on this post. Regular Bridge posts see well over 1,000 and some several thousands. If most people choose not to comment that’s on them but they are still here
It's an interesting question, but given the expansive nature of the universe it's probably safe to say that there's no limit to the number of new civs they would meet. Look how many there are in just our few quadrants of the Trek galaxy, our little Milky Way. And there's countless galaxies out there, many even bigger than ours.
But for the sake of argument... Let's say the Borg did manage to cross the entire universe and conquer every single species out there. What they did next, kind of depends on what kind of Borg you have, I think.
Prior to First Contact, the Borg were pretty much soulless automations purely driven by the desire to assimilate. They were really just computers with a single primary programming goal. ("...more machine now than man.") I think such a race of beings wouldn't change at all, simply because they ran out of targets. They'd just keep looking for more targets as per their programming, even if there weren't any.
Now I really enjoyed FC, but with the introduction of the Queen I've always felt that they turned the nightmarish Borg into a more conventional enemy. The Queen was sentient, with desires and wants. And anyone that wants something, has weaknesses that can be exploited. (As we see.) These Borg would fall into doing whatever the Queen wants. So if she's bored with a lack of prey, then maybe she'll invent some and create civil wars. Or change the Borg's focus to inventing their own tech.
Or maybe she'll just turn to the arts. I know BQ has won quite a few poetry competitions on my Voyages...

You forgot second thing about Borg. They don't just assimilate, they adapt. Queen quite likely was one such adaptation to situation where "mechanical" response just wasn't enough. Yes, maybe it made Queen-controlled bog less of nightmare fuel... and not Queen-controlled ones more of that. And from different perspective Queen-controlled ones too. Previously you just needed to push your creativity to do thing faster than "mechanical"-response Borg. After it was just not enough, if Borg decide that they lose because of lack of creativity They Will Adapt. And there is nothing that says that they wouldn't adapt to losing because of Queen's whims...
I think a Diseased Founder would be a great addition too, since she became much more brutal and cutthroat after contracting the disease--much more authoritarian brutality than diplomacy (maybe CMD/SEC/DIP in that order).
I dig your post, Vehement!
Holy crap a Diseased Founder would be AWESOME....I never thought of that one. Also yea Vreenak's Quote would be BEYOND EPIC!!!
The story could incorporate the Dominion if Lovok was one of the featured crew considering that he was an undercover operative with the Dominion, so both Dominion and Romulan fans could get their fill! Potential Dominion Characters
• Weyoun 5
• Yelgrun
• Legat Damar
• Thot Pran
I totally agree with the lack of 5* Romulan characters--off the top of my head, I can't think of any other than Shinzon or Romulans in disguise (i.e., Data) who are actually Romulan. Senator Vreenak would be a great addition, since he aided in the non-aggression pact with the Dominion, plus getting a voice clip of him saying "It's a faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!" would be a magical rainbow unicorn carrying a pot of gold.
They could also incorporate Praetor Neral and Chairman Koval (of the Tal Shiar). The versions of Weyoun are all pretty cool, in that they all had their own personalities. The Defector, Weyoun 6, The Treacherous Weyoun 7, and The Brutal Weyoun 8.
Yelgrun just has to happen because Iggy Pop. No further discussion.
I hoped that Thot Gor would be a 5*, then they released him/her (gender unknown) as a 4* as a drop in Voyages. Considering s/he was the spokesperson and head of the Breen military for the Dominion, 4 stars seems way under-powered. Hopefully, at least Thot Pran will be 5*.
As for the Founder, it seems like there would be limited options for her, but her character assumed many roles. I think a Diseased Founder would be a great addition too, since she became much more brutal and cutthroat after contracting the disease--much more authoritarian brutality than diplomacy (maybe CMD/SEC/DIP in that order).

So we cant vote for discovery, can't vote for the Borg (as a faction). Its a bit like an election in the Eastern block
*looks on quite recent US election where one side was Best Friend of ISIS and other was, well, Trump* Eastern? Since when any election stopped to be like that?

Either they are slowing down on them or they've already picked the theme / characters for the next one and this will be for the one after.
Mine didn't ask me to register a new account.
Only that I had to use my game associated email address for my vote to count (as did wife)
We voted yesterday as soon as it was posted on Twitter.
I think this is probably more the case. Frankly I also think it might be indicative of something like the Romulans as the next Mega. Either that or their Survey didn't allow more entries on their form.
I actually doubt they are slowing down.
I would expect the current schedule to be:
March: Rerun/single event month ("Normal" Month)
April: Mega Event
May: Normal Month
June: Mega Event (The one we're voting on now)
If they DO go to a quarterly approach (which I would hope for), we might see:
March: Normal Month
April: Normal Month
May: Mega Event
June: Normal Month
July: Normal Month
August: Mega Event
The problem with the latter schedule is that we wouldn't get the event we're voting on until August because May doesn't normally qualify as a Summer month.
I suppose they could really change things up and go three months w/o a mega, but we haven't seen a break that long since they started doing them.
So far, each mega-event has played out in months with only four weekends:
May 2017 - "The Process of Assimilation" (4 weekends)
June 2017 - no mega (5 weekends)
July 2017 - "A Good Day to Lie" (4 weekends)
August 2017 - no mega (5 weekends)
September 2017 - no mega (4 weekends)
October 2017 - "Discovery: A New Anomaly" (4 weekends)
November 2017 - no mega (5 weekends)
December 2017 - "Smoke & Mirrors" (4 weekends)
January 2018 - no mega (4 weekends)
February 2018 - "Ghosts of the Past" (4 weekends)
March 2018 - no mega (5 weekends)
Looking ahead:
April - 4 weekends
May - 4 weekends
June - 5 weekends
July - 4 weekends
August - 4 weekends
There's obviously no reason they can't do a four-part mega-event in a month with five weekends, but let's assume that they prefer to stick to the established pattern. That would eliminate June. It would also set up a break somewhere in here where there would be two consecutive months without a mega-event: either March & April, with a mega in May; or an event next month in April, but skipping May & June before a mega in July.
Comments
It might also be cool if the vast majority of the crew for this mega event were existing, particularly the 5*'s for each event in the mega. There are already four 5* Ferengi: Captain Nog, Grand Nagus Rom, Grand Nagus Zek, Convergence Day Quark.
What this might allow for, is making a mega event which incorporates updated versions of previous events. In this way, we get a mix of new events and re-runs. From a recent poll Would you like more re-runs of past events?
A Ferengi Alliance mega event could incorporate updated versions of:
Unlikely Heroes with Grand Nagus Zek as the 5*.
Then two new events which had Grand Nagus Rom and maybe Convergence Day Quark or a new version of Quark more befitting the mega event?
Even if people aren't keen on this particular idea, I'd like to suggest that with whatever mega event is chosen that perhaps some portion of the individual events within the mega event could be updated re-runs and that most of the crew involved are existing, with ideally one or at most two new crew per event. Oh Hell Yes!!! If you made Captain Spock the ranked Legendary for the last event of the mega, I predict it would set a record for most VP needed!

I'm not too sure about Augments though, only because it leaves the door wide-open for a bunch of non-cannon junk

Awesome that Deep Space Nine won! Interesting poll results here. Too bad that we missed out on a Dominion Megaevent, but Augments should be fun.
