@Banjo1012
The difference is that you are awesome. I am not. I would like crew slots. I have enough saved that I can buy 25 slots when the sale comes. Hurray for me. I have enough now that I can get by, but I like having more crew out so that I have more bonus crew available.
This is all my crew out. I have never used the freezer once in my STT life. I do still have a good amount of bonus crew for events. Except the one coming up. I got Cadet Wesley and Mirror Archer and that’s about it.
How do you only have 141 crew total? You seem to have loads of 5/5 crew. You never completed rare collection, uncommon, common etc?
Banjo is very specific on which crew he decides to keep.
Interesting. I suppose that helps greatly with space issues and leads to a lot of honor for airlocking.
Yes, I am a fan only, I don’t really look at stats. I keep and go after in events only crew I liked in the show. Everyone else gets the airlock. That’s why I only have one Ferengi. They are annoying to me but for some reason I really liked Rom so I have him as Grand Negus but no other Ferengi. That’s an example of how I look at it. And I never take collections into consideration. What is it, a supply kits worth of dilithium and one voyage worth of chrons and honor? That’s an awful lot of effort for so little return
Reached my crew slot limit (again), now why should I ever buy any 10for10 or event pack when I wouldn't have room for what I would get?
Win-win actually when I think about it
Exactly. I have dillithium, but I can do anything with it. I'm not even asking for free slots at this point, a sale would be enough ('cause I don't wan to spend 3k for 5 if at any point I can get 10, so I can't use dillithium in more space, can't buy packs, and I don't care for reviving voyages most of the time)
If it's for me, I am ok with my crew slot quantity I already have, I've been buying over the time and as I am nearing my 3 years of playing and can freeze and defreeze and in that way, manage my crew space, but it would be cool to have more slots for some people on my fleet.
Do you guys put a memo in your calendars to revive this post every 3 months?
I had to read through 2 pages of comments from 3+ months ago to actually get to the new posts.
It's more that the game schedule and structure is designed for you to run out of slots quarterly, while there are only slot sales/giveaways semi-annually.
Someone on here said I was silly for spending honour on 4* citations just to be able to freeze crew. "You want to save honour for 5* citations".
Yet I have never struggled for crew slots.
Be more selective in who you immortalise. You may also have to airlock a few cards that are easy to come by. There are more than enough slots if you manage them correctly.

This arguement doesn't work on this thread. I've tried it many times. People now-a-days want immediate gratification...at all times. They have to be able to get every crewman as a 1/5 or 1/4 and leave them in their crew quarters indefinitely. Oh, and do it all F2P, or VIP 2 or something.
I'll never say "no" to free crew slots or 50% off slot purchases. But the last sale was only a few months ago. And around the same time cadet missions were made warppable, which allowed people to free up a ton of spots being filled by blue and green crew.
I hate airlocking crew because I don't have the space just as much as anyone. But this is a game largely about resource management.

Now with the ability to warp the cadet missions there is alot more wiggle room for the FTP players; I think there needs to be a sweet spot. I am not sure what the base is now but when I started it was practically impossible to play the game without buying extra slots through VIP or dil.
I doubt I would buy any more slots (I have 230 atm which is plenty)
Freeze your greens. Freeze your blues. (I suppose it's obvious - freeze your grays.) And freeze some purples! You simply do not need your 17th best SR (skill-whatever) card on the active roster unless that card is a bonus card in an event (or has a ship ability you can't live without). If it's not a top-10 card on your roster - freeze it!!
Slot crisis managed.
And yes, absolutely buy some slots during a sale if you are so inclined. I have 245, so it would be hypocritical of me to say otherwise. But I learned a while back (during the climb from 100 to 200 slots) that just raising the ceiling won't fix the problem - you must manage your crew inventory or the new crew slots are just a temporary relief. These days, I usually have about 10 open slots for vault-swapping purposes, and I have a lot of once-elite SR crew chilling on ice.
I've not had less than 20-25 open crew slots in a very long time, and that's without airlocking a non-duplicate card of any kind for months and keeping some extra Coffee Janeways around right now waiting for Frog Parises. I know the struggle is much more real for the FTP crowd, but as has been said numerous times, be ruthless. Do not keep crew active that aren't doing you any real good day-to-day. Clear the decks regularly. If a 1/5 on your roster is within a few points of a 4/4 you can freeze, then by all means freeze. The difference is minimal, you'll actually get to use the crew you've worked so hard to obtain, and you get some breathing room.
I've had to resort to freezing my only 2 immortal 5*s to manage. Only because I am loathe to airlock 1/4*s that I might some day fully fuse. Honor does not accumulate fast enough for me.

As hard as it can be to say goodbye to 1/4*s, freezing immortal 5* crew is not really recommended for anyone other than high-spenders who have more of such crew than they can make use of. You’re hurting your voyage lengths, shuttle success rates (probably in and out of events), and sacrificing options in Galaxy events and the gauntlet to hang on to crew that only takes up space.
There are a ton of threads in the Ready Room with suggestions for which crew are worth keeping and which can take a long, cold walk without a suit. You can read through these or create your own, where a legion of helpful people will be able to recommend who you should keep and who can be set aside until you have more room so you don’t have to miss out on using your best crew.
Well, that was the last time I read this thread. Bunch of condescending jackwagons spouting off their holier than thou rhetoric and flouting their credit card statements trying to convince others that it makes up for other shortcomings they have.
Slots keep getting asked for because this is an arbitrary bottleneck in a collectible card game that reduces the chances for people to spend and collect cards. Literally the only CCG I've ever seen or heard of that has a limit on card collecting, but that's the model DB built their app on.
Yes, I want more slots. Sure, once you have a few hundred management gets easier. But one is still limited in collecting and punished for spending.
My play style is...unique. I currently have 260/260 crew slots, and would honestly love about 100 more. Actually, if I could rent like 30 crew slots for a month, I'd do it.
Ad hominem attacks aren't necessary. Person A gives a dissenting opinion with explanation and solution. Person B replies by insulting and attacking Person A instead of their position. We get it...you are a victim of the base premise of F2P games. You can play for free, but it is EASIER if you pay a little $$ to support the game. Why anyone thinks they should get everything right away and for free is baffling to me.
Here is my contribution. It's not exactly a thriller, but it is fun. Let's see if anyone else can beat it!

I've always thought a second type of cryo should be made... I'd call it the waiting room. You would be able to send all your crew there to wait to be leveled up, but they wouldn't retain any training or equipment while there. Once sent there they lose any work you did leveling or equipping them.
You get the honor just the same, then when you want to bring them out you pay the honor back, maybe with a fee of merits. Then you could bring them out to level and immortalize when you have a free space.
Not an expert on this kinda thing, but imagine this would be a reasonably light weight database, only storing who the crew is, and how many you have stored.
Something like this would help with other issues too, like with the new Evolved Janeway that in the past I've airlocked at least 10 of the 20 Captain Janeway needed for her, and would have had more if not skipping her in events that reuse her.
I get they're a business, but there's gotta be a better way to handle this, especially with how long this game has been out, and the cash value they place on these characters we buy.
