10 missions in but I'm not seeing any discernible pattern, other than managing 2 a day which are duplicates of one another skill wise, but with very different outcomes.
Still too small a sample, but thought I'd keep everybody posted.
Interesting observation, and completely anecdotal. In fact, I don't even know I'd voyages are fixed like gauntlet or completely random from player to player.
But...
In the past 3 days of voyages, they've seemed to be tied as good matches to event crew.
I've had com/dip, dip/com, and dip/eng...which seems to match up with the crew this past weekend.
Probably coincidental, bUT just thought I'd throw it out there.
Strangely, and yet likely NOT a coincidence, as I pulled 3 5* Uhuras from random portals last week when She was Event Crew.
My hypothesis about the algorithm is growing teeth. 90% of the 4* crew dropping from Voyages lately have been ones I needed, or have frozen. Only 2 dupes so far out of about 10 random drops. It's the Dilemma drops that are ALWAYS dupes.
I spent some time with short voyages and didn't record them. But I just finished my first over 8 hour voyage without a refresh. I guess I finally made it. I'll write down the results, but anecdotally the security/diplomacy voyage gives you a bunch of 2* items, but is low on rations and crew.
Let me know if you see a pattern because I can't !
However, my CMD ENG voyages on row 11 and 12 did drop 4* crew randomly, thus disproving the original posters theory of CMD voyages not dropping 4* crew.
Still too early to tell, but I think it's just RNG and we, as the classifiers we are, are looking for patterns that aren't there.
Yeah, CMD isn't the issue, as we have data from both extended and non-extended CMD Voyages that drop SRs at random. CMD/SEC is the combo that doesn't drop SRs unless you extend. So far, only 3 or 4 of that combo is reported, but it is consistent thus far.
Also SEC/SCI seems to be stingy unless you extend at least twice.
To be clear, CMD/SEC or SCI/SEC will drop SRs IN DILEMMAS, but extremely rarely at random, and then seems to be only if you extend.
Check it out yourself. I have been updating this spreadsheet with everyone who has reported almost daily!
Definitely there is a pattern that voyages drops event crew/versions of event crew.
I got two Dukat in a row, previously i got Kira (several 2* and a Cardassian one i never seen before)
Also I got Prospero Data after the event (missing *), but i think that was only luck.
Just ran an identical ENG/SCI back to back. Same exact crew, but a different ship. I did not have a worthy bonus ship (Vulcan), so the first Voyage I ran the Prakesh, the second I ran the Krayton.
With the Prakesh, the Voyage made it to 8 hours 5 mins with no refresh, and dropped 4 random SR crew between 6:30 & 7:30.
With the Krayton, the voyage only made it 7 hours 36 mins, and NO SRs.
Again, SAME CREW, so exact same AM and Skills. ENG was over 10K, and SCI was around 8K.
So now I have to wonder... Does the ship make a difference in our search for SRs, or is everything truly random?

On another Note: is it possible that Voyages-Crew is linked to the events? Last week i got two Chekovs, this week two Kiras...
Could be. I just had 4* Uhura drop this morning, though, so it apparently ignores time’s arrow. 🖖🏻

Looks like Sci is the trigger though. Most of your Sci voyages get more than one. The rest seem a bit stingy
