    Awww, should have been a new Mirror Sulu instead of K’Ehlehr, so it could have been an all Japanese crew event.

    I thought Keiko was Korean.

    Keiko was Japanese. Her actress was Chinese-American.

    I JUST GOT THIS.

    Keiko = Japanese (Chinese/American actor)
    Sato = Japanese (Korean/American actor)
    Sulu = Japanese (Japanese/American actor)
    Ogawa = Japanese (Japanese/American actor)
    Kim = Korean (Chinese/American actor)
    Khan = Indian (Latino actor)

    Don’t even start with the Kelvinverse...

    I think the joke was that Rosalind Chao played Klinger’s Korean bride on MASH.

    There are over 30 mirror characters. Some people are going to clean house with this event.
  • I was so happy to be able to freeze all these dominion crew, now I'm pulling out almost as many mirror crew.

    You read my mind! Enjoyed the event, but was looking forward to it being over. Was going to deep freeze a bunch of dominion crew and free up some crew slots. Now I'm looking at it, I might have more mirror coming out of freezer then dominion going in!

    It is acceptable to refer to a female in the acting profession as an actor as the term actor is now considered gender neutral. Similar in the way that most speakers today do not refer to a female writer as an authoress.

    I've noticed this trend with using actor gender neutrally. I still use actress though, just occurs more naturally to me and there's nothing wrong with that word of course.
    Admiral of the Haus of GaghGagh, Starbase level 94, we are not accepting members at this time.
    Captain of the voyage vessels: Queen of Bashir, Landsknecht, and Sunspear, the first luxury starship cruiseliners.
    Amenities include wifi, fully-functioning holodecks, a full-service bar, 3 party decks, a Trill spa, and a business centre.
    Fun fact: The ships are propelled by bouncy castle technology.

    Pretty confident they're going to go the route of him being the prime universe version that we never saw. I'm sure we'll see Leather Daddy Lorca before long.
  • Yay, Sato! And Keiko too. :)
  • Another Faction event, yeah !!!. Québec Alliance will be sending their top Squad: Trek Qc
    We`ll see you there
  • Keiko! Plus any event with a Susie Plakson is excellent!

    I detest the word "server" used in that sense. Sounds... automated... dehumanised. Also, it's etymologically closer to "servant" than "waiter" is. Small details, perhaps, but I think such things influence people's attitudes towards others more than we realise.

    Off on a tangent, sorry... (slightly) more on topic:

    I've always wondered what Philippa Georgiou's backstory/heritage is supposed to be. Her first name is a latinate feminine form of a male (originally) Greek name, but spelled in the English way. Her surname is Greek. She appears to be of mostly Chinese ethnicity, and was born in Malaysia. Intriguing.

    I was looking forward to a repeat event :(
    After 4 straight new events it is nice to get a bit of a break and maybe get to add an extra star

    I wish they'd do a repeat of an old event at least once a month (or every other week), give a chance to get extra stars on older crew, and give a chance to "new" players to get some of those.

    My guess is repeat events do not make them as much money? or maybe they are required to put out so much new content per week, but I agree more repeats would be nice;)

    It might just be me, but I think the over simplification of a language happens when the literacy rate drops. The kids finishing high school today may be great with technology, however, many of them can't string together a proper sentence without some kind of messaging shorthand. Hence, anything and everything become acceptable.

    You don't need to worry about her back story. Greece's greatest export has always been people. Her great great great grandfather was Greek and probably worked as an engineer on a transport ship. It stopped in the port one day, he fell in love with a local girl and stayed behind to open a souvlaki stand. He originally studied at Oxford and his favourite historical character was Philip of Macedon. They named his first daughter after him (in the latin feminine form), and the name passed on for several generations as a reminder of their history.

    I think a lot of people did because the mission success probabilities were much more lenient than usual. I was in the 80-90% range at 4000VP with 3* skill boosts the whole weekend. I cleared threshold before the faction part of the event finished. I generally only do that well in any event type when the higher end players take the weekend off and the bell curve drops shifting me to an above average pass rate.

    Originally, her name was supposed to be Han Bo which fit with her ethnicity and command of the ship Shenzhou (the name od China’s space rocket program). Being Malaysian fits with her actual (actor) background as about 20% of the population there is ethnically Chinese.

    Why they changed her name at the last minute I’m not sure as it was still listed as Han Bo on IMBD after Discovery premiered. I’ve never seen an explanation of the reason they changed the name.

    I can't remember when the Han Solo movie came out in relation to the premier of Discovery, but that may have driven the change.
    I never knew about this, but after reading your post I wish they hadn't changed it.
