Loken is basically Caretaker 2.0 in the gauntlet, with near-identical numbers for ENG and SCI, but about 100 points behind on Med. Unlike the Caretaker, he's a gauntlet no-show, but trades that for the #5 ENG base and the #2 ENG/SCI shuttle score (behind last week Tuesday's Lt. JG Palmer) and the #2 ENG/MED shuttle score (behind pack-exclusive white rabbit) and a slow but still good 400% damage in the arena.
His skill set is rare enough that he's worth getting even if you have all 6 of the other legendaries who share his skill set
Now we find out who exhausted their stockpiles in the last faction event.
Numbers folks, is this the first event where none of the 3 main crew have any variants at all? Seems a poor choice for a faction event, Spock and Jadzia or not. This would have been a better roster for a Galaxy event, or Skirmish. Many in my squad are planning to sit out due to the lack of bonus crew for a small/casual crew.
There have been three previous events in which all members of the Featured Crew were the only ones of their characters:
"The Genesis Wave" (Faction, 8/18/16)
5* General Chang
4* Ambassador Sarek (Threshold 4*'s and Rank 4*'s were the same crew in those days.)
(Bonus crew were all Klingons and Vulcans)
"Discovery: A New Anomaly 2: First Impressions" (Faction/Galaxy Hybrid, 10/12/17)
5* T'Kuvma (Recurring Legendary)
5* Captain Lorca
4* Marla McGivers
4* Reinforcements Stamets

Travis, thanks for answering my inquiring, I had a feeling it would be you if anyone knew! It does feel Exobiology is a smaller pool than “all klingons and vulcans”, the only other pure faction to see no variants, so this should be an interesting weekend for a lot of us.

There should probably be an honorable mention for:
"Ghost in the Machine" (Faction, 10/27/16)
5* Rogue Kai Winn
5* Dr. Soong (pack only)
4* Lore (another event from the days of the Threshold 4* and Rank 4* being the same crew)
This one was invalidated because of Vedek Winn and The One, Lore. The former is a lowly 3* and the latter was a pack-only 5* unlikely to have been in the majority of crews. The extended bonus crew consisted of Androids and Holograms, but even that wasn't nearly as generous as it might sound. At that time, it only added another thirteen crew. One was 2* Lt Commander Data; one was 3* Holodeck 3 Dr. Brahms; five 4* Holograms; and six 5*'s. All of the 4*'s and half of the 5*'s had been pack-only to that point. All of which is to say that for the average player at that time, the bonus pool in effect was significantly smaller than it was on paper--and it was pretty small on paper.
All these SCI-MED and CMD-MED seats are really going to test the 'and' conundrum... how well will MED-primary Pollard do in those seats, relative to her first/second VS either/or expectations?!

There are a lot of med Seats, for sure. I'm glad everyone got Pollard Immortalized.......

Ten packs and counting here. Really poured cold water all over my excitement for this event.

I am super happy I finished The Keeper several weeks ago. And assuming no AND shenanigans, Crell Moset is another supremely helpful guy to have around, when he’s not filling DIP slots.

I have The Keeper, but only at 1/5. There's a 3-seater, though, where I can send them with the M-1113 Creature and Gorn Captain and I get a kick out of that. A squandering of the Gorn? Probably. But it's not often I get to throw out a shuttle of one-off TOS guests, and that makes me happy.
You know that thing where you slack off, don’t check your shuttles, and even toss a non-event one on there to get rid of it...
And then you realize you’re really close to getting Loken in the ranked and you start busting **tsk tsk**$ and using 2X boosts?
I keep teetering in the edge of 1500. I’m debating whether I want Loken but I will prolly pass and hope imprinted Archer pops up on Dabo. I need his skill set way more than Loken’s
I should add - Be careful where you use the 2X Rewards boosts (The newer yellow ones, not the ones that make your missions 9 hours).
If you're going to be checking often, you're probably better off using the timer reduction boosts. Of course both of these rely on you being able to trust that you can succeed in the mission without any other boosts, but let's say you're batting 90% or better:
If I use a 1:30 time reduction boost and I come back right on time, I can fit two missions into 3 hours and end up with 8000 VP. If I use a single 2X reward boost, I can accomplish the same thing without having to check back in the middle. HOWEVER! I'm also betting all 8000 VP on a single mission succeeding. At least with the time reductions, I could potentially end up with 1 success and one failure. Plus the 2X boosts are still exceedingly rare in the game.
So, long story short, save them for when you think you aren't going to check your device for 3 hours.

Great advice! I do this myself. I will add I use the 2x when I plan on setting alarms every three hours when I go to sleep

Awww, friend, don’t let this game cost you sleep! But actually I’ll tell ya, every time I toss on one of those 9 hour double reward boosts, I end up waking up in 6 hours and then waiting 3 hours for it to finish anyway. So I try not to use them.
Having some shuttles with 1.5 hours and some with 3 is too much hazzle for me. I use the doublers from time to time if the odds are really decent, but the reducers I only use for kickstart.
The argument is valid but it just costs me too much nerves. Setting timers at night is a no-go for me. If I wake up in the middle of the night I force myself not to pick up the phone as I know I would hang on for at least half an hour or so and regret it the next (working) day.

Ready to churn it out!
I might be in the minority on this, but T’Pau looks more like she belongs hunting for a shard of the Dark Crystal, and not Vulcan artifacts.
Loved that movie when I was a kid. I still wonder why it doesn’t get much play

I love it when game historians come through for us. Thanks again, @Travis S McClain .
I was gonna be a history teacher, until Crohn's came along and ruined everything. At least there's some outlet for that background!
This went okay. I still want Pollard though.
[EDIT]: Second pull, 2nd star for the Gorn Captain plus a bunch of useless schematics. Drat.

There’s a new Netflix Dark Crystal series!
Cool!! I have to check that out!
There is a prequel finally coming out, IIRC.
I have a set with it, Labyrinth, and MirrorMask......
In honour of this character, my Vulcan officer in STO is K'Pau. [yes, pronounced 'KERPOW!']
There are a lot of med Seats, for sure. I'm glad everyone got Pollard Immortalized.......

Sigh.
Hope it improves over the next several days or I won't even make top 1500.
