I've just installed the latest v5.0 update and I'm getting multiple 'An unexpected error occurred...' messages popping up randomly on various actions, from attempting to start a shuttle mission to trying to use training holoprograms. Is this some thing others have noticed?

There is no outage.
If your account is registered properly try removing the app and installing it from scratch.
Make sure to take note of your DBID (long number appearing in the top right corner when the game starts to load) beforehand.

Same advice as above, take note of your DBID, make sure that your account is properly registered (email/password or via Facebook) and then try deleting/installing the app again.
Same here, crafting and bonus vids and other things...game crashed with variable errors, since the update today.

My app is hanging at the initial "Hailing Starfleet" screen. Started happening a couple of months ago and I basically gave up on the game, but am finding I really quite miss it. Re-installed app, updated app, installed app with new user, played through tutorial, switched to my normal user and it hung again. Is there a known issue with profiles getting corrupted or something?

Check if it says "standard reward" or "rare reward."
There is a big DB has never fixed that sometimes displays missions you have already beat and can no longer get the rare reward.
Whenever a mission shows 5 dots for chance of reward, always check to make sure the reward is standard, not rare.

Even with that it doesn't guarantee a good drop. Mission that drops 5-dot drop with other 4 5-dot drops is worse than mission with 3-dot drop when other two are 1-dot drops. Because as far as I understand it dots is how many balls you drop in hat for each item, so without checking all other items that drop there it's impossible to determine real chance of taking needed ball from the hat.
That's why drop statistics on wiki is very useful.
I suppose, technically, that the time changes if you move. I moved from Washington to Arizona and it changed. But I was moving, anyway. Moving to change times for the game would be a bit extreme.
Could I manually change the time zone of my phone and get the game to update? The game is stuck on standard time, but it's daylight savings time. If I can manually change to the next time zone over, it will match up better with my daily routine.
You need to make sure you are on the correct time zone on your phone. I was off an hour for a while only to find the time zone on the phone had changed by to Alaska instead of Pacific.

Open a ticket with support. And hopefully you wrote down your DBID number, because that is how they would find your info.

What's up with the battery performance the last few months? It just seems to get worse and worse. I played for 25 minutes this morning and STT alone drained 48% of my battery on iOS Phone. I experience similar drains on my iPad Pro 12", which has a significantly larger battery capacity.

I got one of the three. I figured it was just me and I must have clicked on them and not realized. I'm glad to know I wasn't just missing things. However, for me, it isn't worth putting in a ticket.

There is no way to change the times of the Chroniton drops or challenge resets.
