  • In all seriousness, when this is over (not before), I'm going to make sure my family has at least a month's worth of supplies. We had that before this happened because we had just done some major shopping (good timing, I suppose) and we buy a month of supplies at a time. But if this had hit a week earlier, we would be less amused by the "toilet paper shenanigans." I seriously believe that we should all (slowly and not at the same time) build up a small reserve so that when issues come up again, we will.have enough for our families and some to help our neighbors.

You’re absolutely right. Not to go totally “doomsday prepper,” but most of us (myself included) could do better with preparing for times of uncertainty. Just having a supply of shelf-stable food and basic survival equipment is not only useful in emergencies, but also helps prevent chaotic rushes on supplies that contribute to social panic.

In any case, I’m grateful to my neighbors and the global community for the positive sentiment and the entire Timelines team and player base for keeping me entertained during this pandemic.

Funnily enough we didn't have that problem in Italy for weeks, until we started seeing articles about toilet paper scarcity in Germany, the UK and the US. Now people are stockpiling it here too, or at least they do that when buying from online portals. I'll have to leave the house just to buy toilet paper, because it's the only thing I can't seem to get a home delivery for

Same here about the toilet paper. Somewhere I read that the toilet paper gives you a some kind of sense of normality and hygiene. But who knows.

Fortunately here the online shops of foods and basic foodstuff still working (but there are nearly collapsed for the home delivery), and at least in Madrid, the municipal markets have a service of home delivery.

A lot of small shops here have started doing home deliveries too, without the need for online portals. The online portals are still functioning but on the big ones deliveries are very slow (for some chains it takes one month). Smaller online businesses have smaller delayes, mainly due to the fact that carriers are overwhelmed with requests, but they still deliver within 6-10 days. The only problem is that none of them has any toilet paper left and there are no small shops selling it with home deliveries in my area

I agree. This is just an assumption, but I think that a lot of what was perceived as stockpiling might have been due to people who usually do a lot of small purchases 3 or 4 times a week, who were suddenly buying supplies for two weeks all at once.

I've done puzzles with my family from time to time. Whoever made this one was sadistic. 500 pieces, all almost the same. A good quarter of them are all brown.

It was as annoying as it looks. It was made worse by the way they were cut. So many that were almost exactly the same. And all those brown ones...
But we finished it. Honor to House David.

That’s pretty cool man. And I bet it was fairly difficult. Kudos to House David! Well done!

    Scott's Random Prepping Tips:

1} Tuna Fish. Get cans of tuna, PACKED IN WATER. The cans are compact and stackable. After you eat the tuna, drink the water to wash it down, and help stay hydrated. If nothing else, buy ten or so cans at a time to stock up.

2} Water Jugs. Wal 🌟 Mart and most places should have the collapsible five gallon water jugs. Get some and keep them loaded with FRESH water.

3} Dry Beans. Can be stored long-term, and can be cooked in a Crock-Pot.

4} Ready To Eat Food. If you do not like it or cannot eat tuna, or you want something else that does not need to be prepared, get something else that is ready to eat. Canned beans, for example. They are already cooked, and can be eaten cold.

IMPORTANT: Dates. Make sure that supplies are sorted, with oldest dates first to be used. Once you have supplies deeper, you can eat the oldest items before they go out of date.

Another thing on dates. Canned food is dated on the bottom of the cans in small print. Take a Sharpie and clearly write the dates on the labels. Make sure dates are facing the front of the cabinet, and FIFO is easy.

    Happy Monday everyone (=^・ェ・^=))ノ彡☆

This whole situation was getting to me yesterday and it was triggered by suddenly realizing I was going to run out of cat food. It got fixed rather easily by our local Petco allowing online ordering and store pick up fortunately.

We all have stories like this, like I totally understand how annoying running out of TP is for instance.

It will eventually get better but we're not quite there yet :)

So let's keep on sharing, whether hard time stories, tips, memes or great puzzle success stories <3

Glad you got the cat food! I cook my dogs their food. Ground turkey, apples, broccoli, green beans, sweet potatoes, and carrots. I have a stockpile of that stuff but I also bought a lot of Caesar and kibble just in case. My boys are prolly better stocked than I am. If things get to you and you need to talk it out, you know you can come here. You have always been here for us and we will always be here for you. Come to us if you need to as we have been doing as well

I share some memes, all of this previous to the lockdown obviously, in the "fever" of the cornering.

This one: Fourth season of Money Heist cancelled. Because there's no more paper... (Note: The original title of the show is La casa de papel, that literally means House of Paper).

On the other side, starting today the lockdown in Spain is even more strict.

Life sustaining personnel only allowed to work?

More or less, yes. Health workers, vital infraestructures (energy, water, gas, etc...), supermarkets, pharmacies, gas stations, manufacturing industries reconverted to produce medical devices (masks, respirators...), security forces, telecommunications and the essential computer services, media, supply and distribution line and the activities resulting from all of these (transporters, delivery people...). There are a few more exceptions, but it's difficult to translate, and probably many of them can work from home (like some administrative workers), but basically you get the idea.

That’s about where we are here near Chicago. I manage a warehouse so I am considered essential. Been going to work and will continue to do so

Last night I watched #HomeFest from the Late Late Show with James Corden, it was heartwarming.
So was his speech at the end, and the song performed :)

I share another thing, a song that become very popular again in these days (a song from 1988). I added English subtitles to the video with YouTube, so you have to activate it, and then in configuration you can choose the color, size or font what you prefer.
