Okay, maybe this was brought up before, but if you reverse "Grebnedlog", you get "Goldenberg" - any idea who that would be? Obviously it's either an inside joke or hidden tribute, but I am not sure. Any takers?
According to Wikipedia...
The individual Pakleds in "Samaritan Snare" were named after the surnames of the person who pitched the episode and his best friend. Reginod and Grebnedlog are Doniger and Goldenberg spelled backwards.

I read somewhere (Memory Alpha?, 'cause I didn't remember the character) that it was the actor's last name. But that's as far as my research went.
Writer Robert L. McCullough explained the names of Grebnedlog and his subordinate Reginod: "These were names I learned in junior high school," McCullough explained. "My last name used to be Goldenberg and my best friend's was Donager, and we had a code of calling each other by our last names backwards." (Starlog, issue 187, p. 54)
Here's my weekly mock-up of the ranked 5* crew. Figured I may as well go era-appropriate for this one, and also, this Legendary Eaton seemed a perfect fit for this legendary eatery. Ayyy!

Bummer. SCI/DIP/CMD for Kay Eaton. Heavily populated combo, but she'll still be the only Kira variant with SCI and it's primary, no less.
Sci/dip/com is the new sec/com/dip. It makes you wonder if anyone at TP even realizes how often they recycle the same skills in the same order.
In pretty much any Voyage I staff, SCI is in my top 3 skills. Still, I think @Prime Lorca [10FH] makes a good point about this being the only Kira with that skill. That ought to come in handy in the future. I'm trying to decide if I want her enough to compete for her. If the mega-event was starting next week, I'd be all over it and hope to pull more stars for her in recap packs. At 1/5, she won't really help me outside the periodic event bonus. However, it is Kira...

I'm quite sure that they do. It makes the cards outside of these combos shine all the more brightly. If I had to guess (which I don't have to, but will anyway), I would say that it is equally intentional that it is the reward for a galaxy event. Just my personal guess regarding game design.
Yeah, both of those thoughts occurred to me. My point though is that as a player, it’s BORING. I’m trying to remember the last event char I was actually EXCITED to get, and I think it might have been Tactical Officer Neelix. That’s been a LONG time. I realize not every char is going to be a superstar, but jeez, throw us a bone once in a while. Give us a com/med/something, even if the stats are average, and watch us set new records for event scores. I’d really like to be excited about the game again. How hard would people have fought in an event for Gary Seven? Or Medic Reno? That would be EXCITING, don’t you think? How about for another chance at Killy for those of us who missed out the first time, or weren’t around yet? Sorry, I’m kinda brainstorming as I go here. How many possible skill combinations are there? The fact that we so frequently get the same 3 in the same order just strikes me as REALLY lazy. What’s the value of players being excited about the game? I’m not sure. I doubt it’s zero though.

The only event 5* crew I’ve really been excited for for in 2020 are Twilight T’Pol and Claymore Scotty. I cleared the top 1500 for Vahar’ai Saru, Admiral Forrest, and Annika Hansen Seven (favorite characters that are useful or should prove to be highly useful in the future) and worked to put another star on The Professor, I suppose, but it’s definitely been a little underwhelming for me since the amazing TOS mega when it comes to 5* ranked rewards.
It would be nice to see more interesting skill sets among the ranked reward crew, provided they make sense for the crew being featured. I know I would go ape in an event featuring a 5* Kirok, Nanoprobe Phlox, or Stranded Geordi, all of whom certainly qualify for some of the least-common skill combinations and should drive engagement even if certain players don’t like the characters themselves. Until then, I will be happy to take it easy in events and stockpile resources for the times when I really want to go nuts.
I think if the shuttle returns before the event ends it needs to count. This seems kindof unfair really.
I've thought about this as well, but it's not fair for someone to think they have won a gold because they are ranked below 1500 only to lose out due to the updated rankings after the event is over. I think they need to go to a % based ranking system. If they only want to hand out the 5 copies to the overall winner that's fine but I think they need to expand the amount of copies given out at this point a lot of ppl are sitting on a collection on 1/5. You can go all out and place 26th and all that hard work gets you nothing more than someone who placed 1500. I wouldn't count 125 dilithium merits and trainers as a significant reward.

Not to mention, it’s never a wrong time to have more Geordi variants...we haven’t even gotten to talking about getting a Bearded La Forge.

I wholeheartedly agree that the #26-1500 tiers need a serious revamp. Part of my malaise is that since I'm never going to scratch and claw my way into the top 25, anything in that range is sufficient. I can pretty much crack the top 1500 at will in any event of my choosing these days, but don't see any reason to push beyond the minimum to accomplish that. Why burn through as many resources as #26 when I'll have the same 1/5 by spending enough to be #1500?
I don't, however, agree about the matter of fairness. Last minute, even last second, rank volatility has always been part of events. It'll be part of any competition with a timer. If we were talking about auto-completing VP from shuttles that were active at noon, yeah, that'd be a serious problem. We're only talking about auto-claiming VP from shuttles that had completed before the event ended. Those points would be just as legitimate whether you clicked the "complete" button or Tilting Point did it for you. What's unfair isn't that some players might "think" they've won; it's that any player who can't tend to this game by 11:59 AM EST on a Monday doesn't get full credit for their efforts.
