Not likely. Sarek is not a variant of Burnham. Being a guardian does not count. Neither does being a parent unless explicitly stated. And any parental relationship would only show up when the bonus crew are limited. As you noted by your comment about Kira, Paris, and Reed, there are plenty of bonus crew this time.

While it's true that yesterday's update gave no new information, is this a surprise to anyone? Did anyone hold off on leveling/unvaulting their variants of Reed, Kira, Paris, and Burnham because they thought this might be the first event ever where variants did not count? Did anyone level Tuskegee Mayweather because they thought "flight suited characters" would be bonus crew?
Or did the vast majority full realize what the event crew would be the minute the re-run was announced and proceeded accordingly?
