WRG has hyped this new feature, is experimenting with new rewards (390 dil packs, packs offered at other dates then before, including cites for a while etc).
It also told us through timelines talk we could expect surprises.
Secondly the game has a record of misleading or unclear tests in offers.
Many an offer text has been changed after people who bought it complained that it did not deliver what was advertised.
The game owner 'exploited' wrong advertisement to encite players to buy an offer, changed the text but never delivered what was promised.
Today there was a buy again button. If something is a once of deal, do not offer a buy again button.
It would have been an exploit if you would have to do a secret action like clicking on the ism to get it again.
Clicking on A buy again button which does exactly what it promises is not an exploit. It may be a mistake from. WRG, but so could the text about it being available once only.
If we do not buy anything because there might be a mistake , we never will. Because they are so common. And a buy again button is very very obvious.
Is there no QA at all? Is there no testing? Or are they blind so they can not see a big buy again button?
Some players clicked on an in game provided buy again button,
WRG did the following in recent months:
Misleading advertisement where the text was changed but people were not given what they bought.
Refusing to fix bugs
Slow, inconsistent and complicated systems for complaints and error resolution to discourage players to try to do that.
Incompetent programming
Non existent or very bad QA or testing
Blaming, accusing, banning the customers for using in game buttons.
Punishing all users for perceived misconduct , but realy WRG error, by making it harder to get the free daily target ISM by banning lots of customers.
Its not some players who are exploiting.
The players are being exploited by WRG.
You totally left out the elephant in the room. Changing a KEY Ranked Reward in an Event, less than an hour before the Event ended. At least they accepted responsibility for that one, and addressed it in a good way. Compensation for that was probably better than the best SorryTon pack we ever got from DB. Their actions today, after they made the mistake, are major steps back!
Except the Adria fiasco was not the first time they pulled a stunt like that. The Polywater Yar fiasco should have taught them that they shouldn't do things like that.
True story that seems quite familiar, and should be a customer service lesson (and legal?) for TP.
A few years ago my wife and I were shopping for a patio set because the store advertised a 20% sale. We found a set we liked and I did a double-take at the ticket because they accidentally put the 20% on it instead of the 80%. We checked the store and the only error was on the set we liked. I knew it was a mistake, but we played dumb and took the ticket to the cashier. They rang it up and the cashier realized the price was way too low, so she called the manager. The manager checked the sign and do you know what his response was? He said that today was our lucky day and told the cashier to honor the posted price, and said he was going to print a new ticket for that set. I didn’t get banned from the store and didn’t even have to pay the proper price (which I would have), because it was the store’s fault and they honoured the price posted on the set.
This is outrageous. If you call THIS a game-breaking "exploit" then why was no one ever banned for $5 DYS or using IAP or the Independence Day debacle from a few years ago. All of those offered way more of an advantage. This new feature is still completely gated by Quantum. Without that all the polestars are useless anyway.
TL:DR your reasoning makes no sense and this was not the hill to die on after allowing worse bugs for way longer.
I am so disappointed with how TP handled this situation, yes it was an obvious glitch, I clicked on it several time myself but was too late to the party, it had already been fixed. I can see
why players would click it to get it again, it's fun to take advantage of a clear mistake by devs in a game like this, let's be honest. But to ban for 72 hours outright, you obviously know the players and accts that you say went over the reasonable amount of clicks. Why not reach out to them and say Hey, there was a mistake we are going to correct this and tell them how, If they refuse to allow it by spending or using gained resources then ban them for 72 hours. Something could have been done much better. If those bans stay in effect I for one who is not banned will not log in for 72 hours in protest of this kind of measure. If enough people do this you will see what kind of error you made by empty servers for 72 hours on how you treated your customers. I do love this game, but this is too much.

Except they had legal obligations to not release the Adira Towel Crew. And they smegged that up, like so many other things. They were a little "cagey", at least on Forums, about why they couldn't release her then. But, they owned their mistake. Everyone who earned her in the Ranked Rewards got an equal number of copies of Wish Adira, and when she could be released, an equal number of Adira Towel copies. And all players got Achievements to get her, as well. They handled {other than them only saying what they actually did outside of the licensing contract somewhere else} their mistake way better than PolyGate, or PicardGate, or BevGate was handled by DB. Their TowelGate response was way better addressed. I actually had hoped that we were on a good path, as far as them owning their mistakes and comping players for things beyond our control.
Then, today happened.........

In your quest for profit, you've forgotten how to make good business decisions. Doing that requires that you answer to those people who supply your income. Your response to this situation doesn't make sense on the surface. So I ask you to please explain to me like I'm a five year old just how your response is impacting your bottom line.

Own up to YOUR mistake TP!
Which I believe is legally what the store had to do. They have to honour a posted price. I crack up every time I watch the pilot of "SuperStore". When the new kid accidentally reprices all electronic items $0.25 instead of 25% off. And the girl who can't make up her mind what her name is chases customers out on the lot, trying to take stuff back they already paid the marked price for......
I don't have a patio furniture story. But, we did get three nice hams at Sam's Club one time for $0.89 each. They were supposed to be $0.89 a pound. Mom pointed it out to the manager of the Meat Department. He said that was the price for us, because it was labeled that way. He repriced the others after we got ours. My last comment and I’ll go back to lurking bc y’all are too much.
TP is NOT responsible for how a different company handled prior exploits.
TOS clearly says you agree to arbitration for any claims and agree to not be part of any class action, so good luck with that route.
Lastly, my issue is with the disingenuous nature of the complaints. I looked and i took the first screenshots of the error at 12:03. Took me 2 minutes to realize there was an error and I wasn’t the first to post the glitch but y’all want to claim you thought it was supposed to be that way?!
If one of you posted something like I knew it was a glitch I pressed it 20 times even though I knew that. I expected at worse you’d take away the extra. Please the ban was excessive can you reconsider...maybe I’d be more sympathetic.
But no you want to feign ignorance, claim you are at no fault whatsoever and make demands and threats. I really hope they don’t reconsider. It would be far worse for TP to cave to this mob.
I’ve read every post on multiple threads regarding this and only one guy made anything approaching a reasonable request and even he is claiming his fleet mate only clicked it one extra time.
Truly a shameful day for this forum and player base.
With all due respect, this is very different than what the macro cheaters did.
Macro cheaters only affect which players get what of the set rewards pool. The devs aren't really losing anything if people cheat their way up the rankings; the cheaters might even inspire honest players to try to spend money to keep up! So unless and until macros started to threaten the cash flow from honest players who figured out the rankings were rigged there wasn't much incentive for DB/TP/WRG to fix it.
This glitch though? This was money out of the dev's pocket. Macros didn't really cost them anything but this did so they won't stand for it!
This glitch lasted approximately four minutes. The only thing the devs are out is a bunch of VIRTUAL items. If you could call it that. Because of the heavy handed way this incident was handles and the response from the community, it very well may mean money out of the dev's pocket. If a thousand users that spend $50 a month playing this game suddenly go elsewhere, how many devs get pink slips?

The pack being able to be claimed multiple times was "clearly" a bug...
Except how was the player supposed to know that the "Limit 1" wasn't the bug? Its certainly not the first time pack descriptions had typos or misinformation on release.

But, does that part of TOS mean anything? Does any part of TOS mean anything? WRG/TP violated the TOS they posted, with their response. If they do not abide by the TOS they are responsible for creating, would a just and fair legal system say it is fair to only apply the parts they want to cherrypick? Even if what happened rose to the definition THEY posted in the TOS for an "exploit", their response did not follow the response and actions posted in the TOS they set for themselves. Maybe because the response they limited themselves to would make 911 hang up on them? Or expose them to possible charges of nuisance abuse of the emergency services system?
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
Suggestion to WRG to immediately reverse the ban on our friends and everyone else affected.
WRG made the mistake, not our guy. Fix it please and not in 72 hours. Regain our confidence.
This is way across the line when he did nothing wrong, supported the game and our fleets for years, now he’s banned mid event for once claiming a thing it said to claim.

In my line of work, I would blame the employee for not properly setting up a Slot machine. Not ban the player. Sure there are recourses if the player got cash that was because of an error. I would make it right by offering something to satisfy the player. But I wouldnt kick them out. Actually I would expect a lawsuit. It's also why we test, test, test and randomly test machines on the floor to ensure they are programmed right.

Can you remind the team at tomorrow's stand up to focus on testing?
Pretty much everything has been said. I'll just add that 72 hours is too long. I want my fleetmates back to complete their dailies. Please stop the ban at 24 hours. I don't want to fill all those spots that we just filled. Thanks for considering.
It clearly said buy again on the button. You have banned us for a glitch that was your fault. This wasn’t people using Bots to cheat. This was a coding mistake that was fixed you are banning players for no reason. You we able to reverse everything that happened and still want to punish people for YOUR mistake. Unbelievable. I will definitely not be giving this company any more of my hard earned cash. I hope others that were ban will also stop send this company any more money, It is clear I am not wanted as a player anymore, so I guess this is goodbye
What really bugs me about this is there wasn’t even an email sent out saying I was ban. Came home from work to launch some shuttles for the event and there is a big screen saying ban for 72 hours. What a way to end my day after working a ten hour shift out in the cold weather unloading barges. 😡
My thought:
Is thisa screwup or a smart move to sell a lot of dilitium.
It can not be a screwup. A buy again button is so obvious. No way they would miss seeing a big button on screen.
It must be intentional:
Pretty smart of WRG to offer this free pack multiple times. You get the constellation, credits and ism to open it.
Then you see you can get some very nice crew you have been wanting for a long time. But Quantum charges so slowly.
But wait, there are limited time dilitium offers launched at the same time.
Sure the cost of quantum rises fast but i have waited for this crew so long.
I just buy the offers and finaly get those last stars or that 1st star i wanted for years.
Maybe buy some normal dilitium even and take some chances on others as well.
Guess my mistake was asuming that they were not blind.
Severly impacted the game? How so? Not like someone who can afford dumping thousands into buying packs/deals impacts the gameplay. Yes you need to have a source of income and most of us know this came down due to the fact that TP just watched a buttload of money go down the drain. Your folks screwed up and like most humans in this world, did what they would always do. We all see it as a freebie. You can honestly agree that an overwhelming amount of people that are employed there would've done the same thing. It is an ugly side of being human, but it is the truth.
To turn around and punish for a mistake that was not on them is appalling...
Way to spin the ToS like the US judicial system does with RICO.
To the guy that is riding his high horse...you let your friend steal. Still friends with them and didn't turn them in. Your character tarnished and the validity to counter argue is void.

WRG made the mistake, not our guy. Fix it please and not in 72 hours. Regain our confidence.
This is way across the line when he did nothing wrong, supported the game and our fleets for years, now he’s banned mid event for once claiming a thing it said to claim.

No, I brought it up to you and your conscience.
Can you remind the team at tomorrow's stand up to focus on testing?
