My last comment and I’ll go back to lurking bc y’all are too much.
TP is NOT responsible for how a different company handled prior exploits.
Truly a shameful day for this forum and player base.

Guess you don’t look at UC that often. UC is often a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I’m outraged and I didn’t get the chance to grab this pack more than once. Now TP is offering a take 19 copies of this pack. If TP can’t put in a limit of 1 correctly, how are they going to put in a limit of 19?

Nope. I hit it 6 times then reported the problem. Everyone who hit it 20, 50, 100 times knew exactly what they were doing. They knew it was a bug. They assumed they wouldn’t get any punishment. They were wrong.

You know exactly what the button said if you hit it multiple times yourself. It was not an exploit of a glitch by its technical definition. The was a screw up on whomever at TP who allowed that “Buy Again” button to be there by not double checking everything. DB never banned anyone for taking advantage of mess ups on their (DB’s) end because it was on them and not anyone else. Now that TP took over, they are punishing players for having something out in the open that anyone could utilize whether it was supposed to be there or not. I hope TP did not need the millions of dollars they invested into the game by buying it from DB because it is about to go belly up.

First, TP isn’t responsible for how a different company responded to past issues so anyone using those old examples as an excuse is being willfully disingenuous. Secondly, I pressed the buy again button expecting to get the usual pop up with how much it would cost, when I just got a free pack I knew there was a bug. I got some info and posted in engineering. I assumed I’d lose whatever I gained and was fine with it. Then I read ppl got 1000s of isp & constellations and figured there would be blowback. Ppl are upset they are getting hammered for what was clearly exploiting a bug. I just don’t get it.

Exactly this. There were some that definitely knew what they were doing, and did it anyway. Now they're crying.

Having said that, I definitely do not feel the majority being banned did that, or deserve their ban. This is extremely heavy handed on the part of TP. It's also seemingly counter to their own interests when you consider the fallout of that decision. I don't see the logic in this.

Some definitely saw it as an exploit. But the people who were duplicating dilithium on a regular basis from in game mail didnt get banned.

A very popular player on these forums who utilizes a steam exploit on the “welcome to the game” packages to get the cheapest portal packs available isn’t banned.

So yeah, people are crying because the punishment does not fit the crime.

But its too late for them to roll back the ban. They messed this up bad. The whole event is screwed and if they unban early they are admitting fault and will have to give every player in the game rank 1 rewards from this weeks event.

And that still wont satisfy everyone.
  • There is only one way I will continue with this game. An apology and giving me all the rewards (dilithium, voyage rewards, etc...) that I missed due to the ban. I imagine that I should just plan on having a lot more time and money in the very near future...
This kind of reminds of the Dumb and Dumber movie line, "Lloyd, just when I think you can go and do nothing stupider"...

I got offended by the phrase disciplinary actions. Are they my dad or something?

Indeed. But my dad wasn't such an a-hole about discipline. To him, it wasn't a zero-sum game, and it shouldn't be.

... The problem with doing nothing or just taking back gains from a bug or exploit is that it creates moral hazard for the next bug or exploit; if there's no danger of penalty, then there's nothing to stop people from deliberately cheating every time a new exploit appears.

I appreciate the moral absolutism. Here’s IMHO a better idea: is it too much to ask for new features to be ... what word am I reaching for here? Ah. Yes ... TESTED by the devs and programmers before letting them into the wild?

This is the equivalent of finding a $20 bill on an empty deserted street. The responsibility lies with the loser vice the finder. Again, we’re apparently dealing with very basic and greedy people, so the lesson will likely be lost on them.

This just proves my point; you've just said "I would do it again" but with more words.
  • Well I can certainly say I’m glad I stopped paying money a few months ago. It’s sad to see this is what happened to a once great game. Take a hike TP

You Picked really shaky ground to stand on. I think you should back off.
