The thing with the 'offers', that are pushed so much and that are so intrusive in the new update, is that I leant long ago that they're rubbish. So push all you want - I have learned to tune them out. Unfortunately for me, and more so for TP, you could he offering me a million dilithium for a dollar and I wouldn't bite - because I simply don't read them anymore. Try reading the story of the Golden Goose.
And get rid of the intrusions. Usually with a mobile game, ads stop when you pay. I've paid plenty.
I just got the new interface on iOS and it is horrible. It’s like they asked somebody to rearrange stuff who had no design background and had never played the game (let alone was a long-time player).
1. The hovering sales buttons above the purchase button looks like the dog’s breakfast. What a mess. Just put the deals as a separate menu option in the purchase pull-down and/or as a separate tab within the time portal. This stupid change looks awful and covers a good chunk of the screen for no good reason.
2. I hate having the cadet missions moved off the home screen and into the dailies pull-down. This stupid change is only made more ridiculous by the fact that arena battles (also a daily chore) were left as a separate button and still on the home screen.
3. I don’t mind seeing the voyage button on the home screen now, but for anybody who has completed all the missions, that only further renders the galaxy map button utterly useless.
4. The only positive to come from this disaster is that now I can see all my in-game currency balances on the home screen without them overlapping. The fact that correcting that error is considered the silver lining to this cloud of garbage says it all about how bad this update is.
5. The daily rewards calendar has taken a huge step backwards, with just 3 days being displayed per row. It could have been improved similarly to the campaign reward screen, to actually make use of the screen’s full width. It looks worse now than ever and requires too much unnecessary scrolling now.
And, yes, this is me trying to be positive about the update.
PS: I have also had more issues with the game crashing and videos failing in the last couple days, since the update, than I did over the past nearly five years!
Voyage on the main screen and when you run a cadet mission you go back to the cadet mission screen.
I would set my alarm for when my voyage was almost out of AM. When my alarm went off I go into the game. I still have a 180 AM , so I do other things. I forget about the voyage, and when I remember, it is out of AM. With it on the main screen I should not forget. But now the concern is some indication of AM left. I think when AM gets to the time the warning of low AM goes off this is when AM left should be displayed.
Just like they left the "time portal" button at the galaxy map, (1) the voyage button incl AM bar (2) the cadet missions and (3) the 3 bars you circled above could easily be left at their old places and ADDITIONALLY be placed at their new spots.
in my simple mind...
Already miss this a lot. So much easier, so many less taps. 😫
That's what bothers me too. Everything else is fine for what I'm concerned and the fact that daily missions are visible in the fleet section is great.
But cadet missions in the drop down menu annoy me and the fact that moving from dailies to campaign rewards takes extra taps isn't an improvement either. I guess that it should be theoretically possible to move from the dailies screen to the campaign screen by tapping on the yellow button that becomes available once a new campaign tier is unlocked (I think I saw it once) but it takes so long for that button to appear that I always go back to the main screen before it does.
Showing the amount of AM left for a voyage would make the new placement of the voyage button an improvement, but as it is, the lack of that information makes the change irrelevant.
It is terrible, especially on my android phone where the menu buttons are so small and stacked so close together. And why???? They just left an empty spot where cadets was. They claimed all this was for objective events. Well this is objectively bad.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that both arena battles and scans could be lumped into the dailies sub-menu too, if that's the direction they want to go. Why move just the cadet missions?
If it was done better and more graphically, a dailies window could be half-decent. The current execution is ugly, inefficient and inconsistent.
If those 2 buttons were to move into a better dailies interface, then crew could be brought back to the main screen from inside the convoluted manifest sub-menu.
EDIT: maybe we need a multi-option poll to determine what buttons/screens players would like to see singled out on the main screen? I don't mind streamlining the main screen and adding sub-menus/sections, when it makes sense and looks visually appealing... I just think the current design and execution is terrible.
The more I've used 8.2 the more I realize my horrible mistake when making this thread. The title should have been "8.2 is mostly awful, but one or two things are good."
Seriously. The good:
I like Voyage being on the main screen. It could do to have an AM indicator bar, though.
Collections list on crew details is great.
Seeing number of replicator uses is ok, I guess. Even if you destroyed the rest of that interface window.
I am all for a new feature that gives me something to do, but I was just replying to a comment to specify that my complaint was about the existing and abandoned feature. I guess what I would expect is for a continuing expansion of episodes and distress calls. Not a one time drop one time play. This should be ingoing and semi regular. They make loads of new crew each week to buy, how about new stuff to play.
I'm already playing this game for around two hours in total each day. So no, I don't need extra gameplay to do stuff.
What are you doing during those two hours? I complete dailies and have nothing to do. I have nothing to work on or work towards.
I keep reading this thread and dreading the day (6 days hence) when I am forced to update. To be fair, there was a decent amount of angst about the UI changes that occurred with 8.0 (many of which I also disliked), but ultimately I've gotten used to them, so I'm sure the same will be true for 8.2. That said, I'm crossing my fingers that the forced upgrade will actually be version 8.21 and that some of the issues discussed in this thread will be tweaked.
Thanks to all of you for being early adopters and taking the time to explain the bad (and good) things about the changes.

You can ad-warp every 20 min:
Cadet - Mission - Scan - repeat
Above is without the events and preparing for the events.
15 minutes a voyage. Dang I'm in and out. 12000 the 2 primaries, atleast 2800 antimatter, all other skills above 4000. 10 hours every time. Maximizing ad warps is the only thing that can impact me.
My average is 9:01. I managed 1 time above 10 hours, this week. I want to get as much as I can.
I could use datacore of course, but it's fun to gather my crew for voyage. Figuring out a good combo.
My top 50 voyagers have at least a total skill of 2600 (I check the Idol's datacore file)
So I only pick those. I try to get as many traits I can to get a high antimatter.

This sounds like me for a long time. Until about a year ago. I just don't have crew to level, I don't care about the rewards from shuttles and in the last two weeks I have only resolved one dilemma a day on my voyages. I am lvl 98 and have lost all motivation to compete in events or do anything else.
My earlier post was just pointing out the features that I felt need to be updated to renew interest for me.
I know there is lots to do for lots of players, but after years and years, options become very very limited.
I think I will be taking a break. Maybe some time away will renew interest, or catching up on missing crew will be fun.

Yeah, that's why I prefer they update the current features. (Gauntlet and Arena)
There is a small chance that the new objective events can renew your interest.
Edit: I had the same feeling with the game I played before Timelines. Which I played for four years.
Tried to keep an open mind while reading about the changes, then the update came. Definitely not a fan. I hope there is a really good reason for many of the head scratching changes but how difficult can it be to add two or three new episodes to the galaxy map. I’m beginning to think GTA 6 will be out before that happens. Once that happens this game will get shelved for at least a year.
So far after using the new UI I have to say these are the worst offenders :
- return cadet missions to the main screen , move arena if there is no room suddenly.
- move the offeres to upper right corner
As a simple rule of thumb I'd say that any progress/redesign that needs 1 more tap/click to do what you were doing so far is a step in the wrong direction .

Is this a new feature and it wasn’t announced? Or did I miss it in an announcement from a previous update?
For anyone whose missed it until now, it allows a x4 speed up.
- return cadet missions to the main screen , move arena if there is no room suddenly.
- move the offeres to upper right corner

Yes it's a new, unannounced feature. And debateably the only good one and by far the most useful one.
