We're toying with the idea of an Archer Mega-Event, I know there is a request for it
(one of our designers has requested it as well )
For an Archer Mega I would think the wish would be for Archer to be the recurrent crew?
But looking at the versions we already have, and the limited variations in clothing during the series, what version of him could we do that would fit/be interesting to you?
My preference would be Expedition Archer, in the cold weather gear from The Aenar. This is a distinct look, and it represents Archer doing what he does best: exploring, adventuring, meeting new people, and developing rapport with them. It's also an episode arc which is key in the formation of the Federation.
He would probably be some mix of CMD, DIP, and MED. Probably emphasizing DIP if the story is about forging relations as part of a Diplomat mega, or setting the stage for the Federation as part of an Enterprise mega. Alternatively, this could lean into the adventure with an Exploration mega and crew like Celtris III Picard/Crusher/Worf and O'Brien/Bashir from Armageddon Game.

Appreciate the invitation. I’ll generally echo a few things.
1. Make it an iconic Archer. Either make the definitive vanilla Captain Archer or a memorable variant (Klingon Archer would be my pick).
2. Keep the mega theme consistent. If Archer’s the theme, either stack the mega with Enterprise crew, explorers, or diplomats. Megas where themes aren’t consistent tend to disappoint.
3. There are certain crew with very few variants that need some love (Odo, half of the Enterprise cast). Releasing some underrepresented crew could also be a mega theme (not necessarily for Archer).
4. Tongue-in-cheek jokes, when done well, are always appreciated.
Not exclusively Archer, but a mega themed around an Archer variant whose art I think would really stand out in game with the scanner effect.
Mega event: Obsession
Ships across the Federation have become unreachable as they fall derelict and begin to drift across enemy borders. The few contacts that have been established return only insane ramblings and sheer madness! Discover what has gripped the finest crews in the Federation before it's too late.
You're encouraged to seek out help from crew with the Investigator and Hunter traits, which will provide a bonus for this mega event.
And speaking of recurrent mega-event crew, what makes them meaningful to you in general, outside of stats that is (yes, traits also, I know!).
Art is a big deal. Crew with neat props like Humbled Archer or an aura effect like Mycelial Culber are nice to look at.
Skill set is very important for mega recurring crew. 38% of mega recurring crew to date have been some variation of only CMD DIP and SEC and the last three have had the exact same order of skills. If the character you want to use can only justify CDS, consider debuting them elsewhere. If the character you want to use can clearly justify something other than CDS (Suspiria), give them a more useful skill set.
What other characters would you like to see as recurrent crew, and why?
An interesting mega theme we've long bandied about is a Heroes & Villains mega. Captain Ransom from the Voyager 2-parter Equinox is one of the rare characters for whom both traits would fit and could make a cool recurring crew.

I think Luau Torres would be an awesome recurring crew for a Luau/Casual Mega event. I would like her art to be from this particular moment:
I think it just looks very awesome and fun too. And Torres is very underrepresented in this game. The rest of the mega crew would be Luau Kim, Luau Doctor, Luau Tuvok, Luau Janeway, Luau Chakotay and Luau Vorik.
Another Idea for a Mega event would be one that is themed around the Dominion Cold War which happened in s3 - s4. The recurring for this would be Vice Admiral Leyton. Some other crew would be Security Chief Eddington, Weyoun Clone 7, Captain Keogh, Captain Benteen, Changeling O'Brien, Bleeding Joseph Sisko and the USS Lakota as a Skirmish reward.
A Mega themed around the episode "Workforce" (Workforce Janeway, Jaffen, Workforce Seven, Workforce Paris, Workforce Tuvok, Workforce Torres and Workforce Neelix)
or "Author, Author" with the evil Voyager crew (Captain Jenkins, Commander Katanay, Lt. Marseilles, Lt. Commander Tulak, Lt. Torrey, Ensign Kymble, Three of Eight and Irate Doctor from when Paris alters the programe to get back at him) would be awesome too!
You could also throw in some of the crew dressed as the Doctor during their play of the programe, like EMH Janeway, EMH Torres, EMH Paris etc.
If we're getting an Archer mega, we absolutely have to have Dean Stockwell as Colonel Grat from the episode "Detained" as one of the new characters in the game

Casual mega, and every single new crew is Luau?
I like flowers so that is probably the appeal in luau, but I also like the idea of light hearted fun.

I don't have another specific crew, but one general comment about mega events. The new crew introduced should have the mega trait. Don't create a narrative theme and then an unrelated bonus trait such that the crew are only bonus crew in their event. I like when it feels like I'm building my bonus crew during the mega, and to do that the new crew all need to have the bonus trait.
I would even say an interesting idea is to use a trait with little to no crew initially. Then have all 9 new crew have the trait. But the end of the mega players will have crew for their shuttles, but the start of the mega will be building up those crew. If you do this, then event order will need to be considered to take advantage of the bonus pool rising.
If there was ever to be a "Dominion Cold War" Mega with President Jaresh-Inyo, Vice Admiral Robert Leyton, Commander (mostly in that two-parter) Erika Benteen as well as Captain Phillipp Keogh and Teenager Jake ("The Jem'Hadar") ... we would need Eris and Talak'talan as well, the first ever Vorta (with Telekinetic trait) and the first ever Jem'Hadar on television.
Teenager Jake could actually be a new green quality card in the trashhold rewards, and why not also have a new blue quality card in the ranked rewards? Maybe the Bolian Rear Admiral or Red Squad Fan Nog from the episode "Paradise Lost".
For the "Jonathan Archer" Mega though, I'd strongly recommend Captain Jonathan Archer to be the recurring character with the hugest ever CMD-DIP-ENG triplet for voyages, possible even a gauntlet monster with slightly lower base values.
I'd also like to see Xindi Prisoner Degra (probably gold quality) as well as Admiral Valdore (I'd say purple quality) and Gareb from the Aenar episode as well as Expedition Archer (blue quality for a new ranked card) with a fuse option to become purple quality Expedition Archer and Shran. Warp Two Pioneer Archer (from the B. G. Robinson episode) would make a nice legendary card, and why not have a new Timelines Original? I like the idea of Starfleet Shran actually (which was posted further above) or even Starfleet Jhamel / Counselor Jhamel (yeah ... I just had to come up with something like that, sorry). ^^
There are also a variety of ships that could be used, most likely the Xindi-Reptilian Contortrix Escort or the Xindi-Arboreal Ateleth Flight Deck Carrier, but why not the Xindi weapon sphere ship or the Vulcan Seleya?

But what would interest me most in upcoming megas is NO MORE diplomacy, command, security.
I would love to see engineering, medical and science primaries.

Recurring legendary - Henry Archer, builder of the first warp drive engine. Every event has one of the three Orion women at 500k threshold as incentive for engagement. The purpose of this is that all three can be fused to make one card, which the fuse of the three will be the final events 500k threshold. They will fuse to make the first 4-skill card as together they combine for DIP-COM-ENG-SCI. Now here are my ideas for theme and crew:
Villains-they join forces to go after Archer as none of them can defeat him alone. The rank rewards are Admiral Valdore - 5* and Harrad-Sar - 4, Colonel Grat - 5 and Pri’Nom D’Jamat - 4, Rajiin - 5 and Menos - 4, V’Las - 5 and Alien Foreman (from the mining colony in the Delphic Expanse) - 4*.
Allies-team with Archer to defeat a big enemy. The rank rewards are Major Hayes - 5* and Minister Kuvak - 4, Andorian Mining Consortium Shran - 5 and Riann (the apothecary) - 4, 1944 Silik (in human disguise) - 5 and Carmine - 4, The Wraith - 5 and Koss - 4*.
Friends and Family: The rank rewards are Dr. Lucas - 5* and Gareb - 4, Ezral - 5 and Ah’Len - 4, T’Les - 5 and Elizabeth Tucker - 4, Late Teens Sim - 5 and Bethany - 4*.
Our Heroes-those who have always been at Archer’s side. The rank rewards are Carpenter Street T’Pol - 5* and Carpenter Street Archer - 4, Twilight Captain Tucker - 5 and Crewman Taylor - 4, Sphere 41 T’Pol (like an old oil painting) - 5 and Crewman Daniels - 4, Obsessed Phlox (who was about to dissect Mayweathers brain) - 5 and Mirror Soval - 4*.
Three more crew ideas to toss out there are General K’Vagh (Uncle Phil), Skalaar, and Vissian Captain Drennik.

It is a reference to the "whack-a-mole" game/toy - I regret nothing! ;p
I would strongly be in favor of a Casual / Luau event. But I concur, all crew needs to be Luau to really slam home the theme. I think some of the mega's try to stretch too much but others really hit home well (like the tribble mega). The reoccurring, and the 5*/4* crew all need to be fully event themed and should have the main event trait (or something that relates like I could believe a prisoner event could have investigators as well).
The reoccurring is a Timelines Original - “Detective Archer”
Equal parts Dixon Hill and Bakula’s character in NCIS: New Orleans.
Also, I would very much like to see a Mirror Archer (original uniform) 5* and Captain Jonathan Archer, high powered card.

Yeah, during S2 there's a definite slide towards an Archer-Tucker-T'Pol focus. Phlox is weird enough to continue standing out, Reed takes a step back, Sato is reduced to occasional screaming, and Mayweather practically disappears.
And they're almost always simply in uniform, so making variants is visually difficult too.
Reed needs a solid legendary, possibly an EV variant? There are many opportunities there: Breaking the Ice, The Council, Babel One, et cetera. Some other stand-out designs would be Pummeled Reed (from his fight with Hayes), Alternative Future Captain Reed (with the beard), Stranded Reed (in the blanket), Minding His Own Business Reed (admittedly, also an EV suit).
Sato has the benefit of a solid existing Legendary. She could get a Tourist variant like Reed and Trip, and maybe an Under Cover one. To break up the DIP primaries, maybe an ENG primary Codebreaker Sato, although it's unfortunate this is one of her many damsel-in-distress moments.
Mayweather also has a good Legendary variant, but I honestly can't think of a visually distinct version of him that hasn't been used already. Maybe Spelunking Mayweather, but it would look similar to Mountain Climber. He'd just be in uniform, but he could likely manage an ENG primary Jury Rigger Mayweather from figuring out the Xindi ship, and an DIP primary Impromptu Diplomat Mayweather smoothing things out with the Kreetassan.

What about straight up Captain Archer? We don't have a vanilla Archer in his uniform. In terms of moments, how about the end of Broken Bow when Archer tells the crew they're ready and are continuing on their mission. In terms of mega theme, it could be Explorer and have other explorer crew.
I also find it slightly odd that there is no "Captain Archer" variant in this game yet.
Fleet Admiral - Dazed & Confused 🤸🤸🙃 We are still waiting for Enterprises B & C, the Delta Flyer, and a Runabout! We should also have a TNG season 1 red shirt LT JG Worf, and a "Far Beyond The Stars" DS9 episode crew collection!

I like the Klingon Archer idea and the Obsessed Archer idea. Expedition Archer in a snow suit is alright, as is Mountain Climbing Archer, but neither feels powerful enough of an image to really grab my attention. A simple Captain Archer from the end of the first episode is a good idea, though not necessarily a distinctive look. And I would love a good mirror Archer since the one we have just looks wrong to me.
Whatever you do, don't make a weak Archer. Most of his variants are far under-powered.
As far as mega events go, I like a good cohesive story line. The problem is that the way events are currently posted, we know the next part of the story before we have played the current part. It rather ruins the effect of a good story.
A mega event would seem far more "Mega" to me if we got more than usual. Add a non-event (but related by character or theme) old 5* crew at 400K to every event. For example, let's pretend the week's event is a galaxy with recurring Archer, a new 5* Trip, a new 4* Garak, and an existing Crusher. Add an existing 5* of one of those crew or an existing 5* who matches the theme. This wouldn't be available in the weekly pack but just an old card some may want. It would generate revenue form DYC offers, but mostly just please the players. Make it one if the low-value (relatively) decrepit two-skill legendary crew who no one would normally fight for but would welcome the chance to get as a bonus.
And my last (ar least for now) suggestion for mega events in general is that I wouldn't personally mind a repeat mega from four years ago. I realize that many people here have been playing that long, but maybe adding a new additional mega crew along with the original would help.
As far as what new versions could be made, it should definitely be an Archer based around an event in the show, like the attack on the Xindi weapon in "Zero Hour". Or it could be an original version that deals with the converging timelines (which could allow for non-canon clothing).
A Shran or Xindi recurring character could be interesting. One half of the mega-event could be revealed around gathering allies (Shran, Vulcans, early Starfleet members) and the other half could be about defeating the villains (Xindi, Borg, orion)
Wouldn't even need an original version to deal with the timelines. It would be an opportunity to make a temporal observatory Archer and a temporal observatory Daniels. They were watching what was supposed to be the repair of the timeline, only for the crisis to occur and the display goes nuts.
Side note, would love more Daniels love, and in addition to a temporal observatory Daniels a corrupted timeline Daniels who appears to warn against the dangers of mucking with time and space. Cue trading of whits with Q over temporal theory.
*edit* Arguments between temporal agents of different eras (Braxton, Daniels, Dulmur and Lucsly) could be fun too.
Megan’s would be better if there was a way to get a 5/5 card instead of a 4/5 whilst participating in the event. Also, the 5* card should be timed to link with the monthly campaign, so you can reap the benefits. Also, take this event, there are lots of 4* cards from event rewards that don’t have the trait from the mega. Again, this should be linked to a collection, to motivate players. Nothing worse than a campaign card with no collection value.

Yeah, during S2 there's a definite slide towards an Archer-Tucker-T'Pol focus. Phlox is weird enough to continue standing out, Reed takes a step back, Sato is reduced to occasional screaming, and Mayweather practically disappears.
And they're almost always simply in uniform, so making variants is visually difficult too.
Reed needs a solid legendary, possibly an EV variant? There are many opportunities there: Breaking the Ice, The Council, Babel One, et cetera. Some other stand-out designs would be Pummeled Reed (from his fight with Hayes), Alternative Future Captain Reed (with the beard), Stranded Reed (in the blanket), Minding His Own Business Reed (admittedly, also an EV suit).
Sato has the benefit of a solid existing Legendary. She could get a Tourist variant like Reed and Trip, and maybe an Under Cover one. To break up the DIP primaries, maybe an ENG primary Codebreaker Sato, although it's unfortunate this is one of her many damsel-in-distress moments.
Mayweather also has a good Legendary variant, but I honestly can't think of a visually distinct version of him that hasn't been used already. Maybe Spelunking Mayweather, but it would look similar to Mountain Climber. He'd just be in uniform, but he could likely manage an ENG primary Jury Rigger Mayweather from figuring out the Xindi ship, and an DIP primary Impromptu Diplomat Mayweather smoothing things out with the Kreetassan.

Whatever you do, don't make a weak Archer. Most of his variants are far under-powered.
As far as mega events go, I like a good cohesive story line. The problem is that the way events are currently posted, we know the next part of the story before we have played the current part. It rather ruins the effect of a good story.
A mega event would seem far more "Mega" to me if we got more than usual. Add a non-event (but related by character or theme) old 5* crew at 400K to every event. For example, let's pretend the week's event is a galaxy with recurring Archer, a new 5* Trip, a new 4* Garak, and an existing Crusher. Add an existing 5* of one of those crew or an existing 5* who matches the theme. This wouldn't be available in the weekly pack but just an old card some may want. It would generate revenue form DYC offers, but mostly just please the players. Make it one if the low-value (relatively) decrepit two-skill legendary crew who no one would normally fight for but would welcome the chance to get as a bonus.
And my last (ar least for now) suggestion for mega events in general is that I wouldn't personally mind a repeat mega from four years ago. I realize that many people here have been playing that long, but maybe adding a new additional mega crew along with the original would help.
Wouldn't even need an original version to deal with the timelines. It would be an opportunity to make a temporal observatory Archer and a temporal observatory Daniels. They were watching what was supposed to be the repair of the timeline, only for the crisis to occur and the display goes nuts.
Side note, would love more Daniels love, and in addition to a temporal observatory Daniels a corrupted timeline Daniels who appears to warn against the dangers of mucking with time and space. Cue trading of whits with Q over temporal theory.
*edit* Arguments between temporal agents of different eras (Braxton, Daniels, Dulmur and Lucsly) could be fun too.
