I asked DB in this thread for verification if honor or citation were received by anyone as alternative compensation to the Picard. No need...a member of our fleet just got the offer for 50,000 Honor. I hope we get the same offer.
However, that does not help those who missed the reward tier for Troi (top 1000) due to glitches at the end of the event. You can’t add a star to what you do not have...

Guess I won't be spending 24.99 on extra copies ever again. Let's not even mention that 24.99 is a ludicrous amount of money to ask for the "product" in the first place. DB, you need to fix this. The death knell ringeth.
While I have a policy of not complaining whenever I get a freebie of any sort, I also think that just to save themselves from the huge outcry, DB should have considered a different way of compensation - for me, as with many others, it was getting 550 Honor for 25€. Yay...
Awarding a different event crew, or even Mirror Spock and masking it as "the Terran Empire's thank you for stopping Mirror Picard" would have been more in tone with the general Megaevent logic, especially since Spock did offer you his profound thanks in the end.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Many people explicitely do not put 5th star on gold and 4th on purple using citations or money because of things like that. Picard was explicitely SAFE choice prior to "gift" mail - that spent money/honor would 100% be useful - and that is why plenty of people chose to spend on him.
What you described is comparable to Monthly Stamets at most - and it caused mild grumbling and not 5 (IIRC by last count) threads of vitriolic rage.
Past mega event 5*s have been obtained by people in my fleet since those events ended. If you think that fake Picard will never ever be available then you are probably mistaken.
After 6 months. Crews that are released will eventually be added into the premium pack. Often after 6 months.
The Borg Queen and Kortar, the main 5*’s of those mega events, are still not in the premium pack or loot table. All the other 4*’s and 5*’s of those events have been released into the loot table already.
Borg Queen and Kortar is only obtainable from crew packs (like Borg characters pack). So yes, the main 5*’s of mega events are nearly impossible to get unless they do a character pack with them in it, and you are lucky enough to loot one.

I agree that this is a far better solution. I'm not really a fan of a fix that gives away a card that you couldn't have gotten by playing the game. This 2nd Picard for this event could only have been purchased, not won. The issue it causes however is that anyone that bought a pack and got a Janeway that the fully fused and would now have to airlock an extra one. They would have had good reason to complain about that.

Unfortunately, it would still allow upgrading cards that weren't in the event, but it wouldn't allow anything new or nor would it hurt the people that paid money. You could even mix the two ideas. Give anyone in the top 2000 an option for citation or Troi. Anyone else just gets a citation.

A simple legendary citation would have negated so much of the outcry.
The easiest way to verify that Picard was 5/5 before the e-mail got claimed is by checking the immortalization date ... simply and easily.
Also, some of us have received 50'000 Honor as "true" compensation not too long ago. It looks like DB is catching the train just about now. Thanks for reconsidering and not driving half of the playerbase crazy.
PS: Some of the players compared MP's giveaway with Scarlett's giveaway earlier. Scarlett is a normal event crew and not as valuable as MP because MP is a Mega Event special crew and unlikely to return anytime soon. That's what outraged so many of us players. There weren't too many reactions to Scarlett because he was event crew last year and he's in regular portals now (with luck of course).

Correct. Some who sent tickets in early were awarded 50K honor. Others were told that wouldn’t be appropriate.
I did the DYS offer under the assumption that it would be the only way to fuse Mirror Picard. Perhaps, this was my fault. But, Picard sits in my mailbox as a reminder the next time I think about spending $25 on 1/5th of a character card. I hope there is a more adequate resolution coming.
Add my name to those who spent $25 on the DYC offer for Picard, put in a ticket, and have received an initial reply stating nothing will be done. This is the first time I have received a unsatisfactory response to a ticket involving money spent. I am not happy.
On an even funnier note, I also got the Double your Crew offer for the 6th Copy of Mirror Picard. I guess I should have made them 7, and then add more honor to double immortalize him
This is the biggest bad joke from DB. I gave real money to immortalize him from the event time.

The reason my post was the correct compensation, was because that is what people at those ranks would have been playing for.
If you were higher in rank than 2000, you should not be expecting anymore than a Mirror Janeway.
Anyone who had issues that were not with the event, would have to file tickets. Keep in mind this outage was in the range of ten to fifteen minutes.

I spent money on a double your Picard offer during the very first event of the Mirror event and thusly feel totally ripped off now. I’m happy they sent out a free one and all, but it’s just the wrong character to choose really. I’ve sent a ticket in but I honestly don’t expect anything will come of it. I’d love to get a citation or another legendary character out of it instead but DB is almost never very consistent with what it will do when you submit a ticket. Looks like it’s wait and see for me.
This is actually why CS gets away with this and they win.
They use the insurance company tactic of deny your claim, then delay you until you no longer care, defend without ground their position, and the death of the ticket benefits them.
This is exactly DB's MO for customer service. They delay addressing tickets for a month then send you an email overnight (for the US folks). Since people naturally stop checking for an update after a couple days, it's very easy to miss an email that was sent overnight. Then they just close the ticket without actually doing anything.
Half the time, support's email back to you is stuff you already provided in the ticket, or asking what your Captain name/DBID is - things that have already been provided.

550 honor is less than one days accumulation if you are in a good fleet. (You get 770/day)
You accumulate chrons at a rate of 10 per hour, normally, so that would be 100 hours minus getting 100/day for being in a fleet not hitting the holowall and 50/day daily reward.
Also, listen, this wasn't a hey lets be generous gift. That's what Red (d)Worf was.... and for that, yeah you take what you get. 'Cause sometimes Aunt May gives you a polka dot wool sweater and its ok. But when you are compensating for screwing up, you need some more sincerity in the apology that should at least attempt to proportionately help the folks most impacted by your screwing up. This does not do that, and that, at least for me, is the prime reason of not being happy.
And frankly, if I get squat on this, sure whatever. I've got fleetmates that missed out on Troi or additional stars of Troi because of this. They should get a Troi or some damn thing.

It's worse than that. In fact, DB have effectively just "fined" all players that have MP FF either 25 dollars (or equivalent) or 50000 honour. We paid/used honour to get a 5/5 MP that we could not otherwise obtain for many months (or so we very reasonably thought) and a competitive advantage that DB just wiped out whilst (thus far) holding onto our money/honour which we have now paid for nothing.
Bluetib - how would you feel if every time DB made a mistake they arbitrarily fined about 66% of the players 25 dollars or took away 50,000 honour and you were one of them next time?
