A sale would be good, but it doesn't address the key issue. The main problem is that we can get crew and level them, but the citations are difficult.
1. If we could add stars to crew more readily, we wouldn't need nearly as many crew slots.
2. Or they could allow us to freeze 100 level crew regardless of their citation status. That would free active spots, too.
Either of those fixes the main issue and people would still buy slots if they want the advantage of more active crew. The second would be a very easy fix. The first would make sense.
Looks like my memory was completely wrong and I had moved the September one into July in my head. I went through all of the threads whose most recent post was in month of July 2017, but found nothing about a crew slot sale.
Either way, trying to predict future behavior based on something that has happened twice ever (I think?) is a tall order. Based on the other comments in this thread, the crew slot sales would be insufficient for some anyways.
Personally, I'd love something where we could Chryo someone regardless of fusion level. I would think this would be very easy to implement and would encourage a lot more participation in events and would also give some staying power to the harder-to-fuse voyage cards. It should be pretty easy to implement on the client side. Right now, they have some mapping table that connects an account to which crew is immortalized. All that would need to happen is adding a column to indicate the fusion level and, on the Chryo UI, to have an indication of what the fusion level is.

I didn't start playing until the end of August last year, and knew there was a sale about a month after I started playing. I just took it as read that there was another sale 3 months before the September one. So there was confusion on my side as well.

Two people on the internet both admit error on their respective ends? A DAY TO BE KNOWN IN HISTORY!

That's two remarkable events in one thread! (See page 3.) The want for more crew slots, bringing people together as one!
(Maybe this is how the Middle East gets solved...)
If we could actually warp cadet missions by using the button that doesn’t work that would free up quite a few slots, could vault all the twos and threes instead of having to waste merits by bouncing them around. If we can’t warp them what is the point of having the buttons.

Considering my next 5 would cost something like 3500 dil, even 3 would be nice, I haven’t been able to farm much from the gauntlet due to work loads so my merits are dwindling to move crew in and out of the vault. I’d rather leave the cadets in my active roster even though they cost slots. I have anywhere from 5-7 slots for cadet challenges taken up so that to me is quite a few. Would be nice to unvault more for events but until I get my merit pile where it should be I’m kind of stuck. Being able to warp the challenges would be my ideal solution for now. Or win the lotto and buy the rest of the slots.😁
For my first few months of monthly card, all I bought was slots.
It works out to exactly the amount for the max cost of 5 slots, 3000 DIL.
I did a lot of that too. It works fine for slowly improving crew slots, but it is one of the most boring ways to do it since you miss out on the weekly event packs you could have been buying and really can't use your dil for anything else.
If they just let us run 2-3 monthly cards simultaneously, everything would be great.

I could see it. I don't buy packs normally anyways unless its a faction trying to FF the threshold if they are new... so didn't feel like I was missing anything.
The game is to frustrating to play once you reach a certain point, i will only spend money on games because i want to ,never when im forced to. This is how crew slots are setup.
I dont have nearly enough crew slots and the game has lost its appeal because of this.
"Are there no prisons?"
"Plenty of prisons..."
"And the Union workhouses." demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"
"Both very busy, sir..."
"Those without extra crew slots must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
"If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better head for the airlock and decrease the surplus crew population."
I caved and just vaulted the cadets I’ll just have to pull out the days challenges and revault them. The 3 I need to leave open is manageable. On a side note I opened my 30 packs right after for giggles. Got enough hockey Kim’s and Paris to start a league, same with racquetball Bashir and winns. But I was able to get a lot of my fours FF so I can work on vaulting the not so good ones. I also got about 9 new fives and some I added stars to my other fives too. Biggest prize was on the 27th pull last box popped up and 1st Officer Burnham graced my stage so it was all worth it. Next on my need list is Dr. Hugh Culber. All in all a grand day then I did my taxes and I owe $6400, well that fuzzy feeling didn’t last long. Que Sera Sera!!! LLAP all!
No crew slots DB?
Get the pitchforks and torches! Let’s storm DB HQ!!!!! 😂😂
I know you’re joking and all, but since YouTube HQ just got stormed the other week you’ll probably just get nervous laughs. For real though, 5k views and 140 comments. This is obviously something that players are concerned with. I hope some form of action is being considered by Disruptor Beam.
In other crew slot news, at least the new Wedding T’Pol comes fully fused from threshold and Science Office T’Pol can replace Festive Jadzia on cadet challenge duty. If I can just clear enough space for both of them in time....
If only some sort of fold in space and time miraculously expanded the living quarters aboard my ship.
I used to be opposed to having a Starbase room that gave crew slots, but kinda thinking that might be the way to go now.
That would sort of tie people down to one fleet. But I’m open to a variety of slot solutions - most everything that’s been suggested in this thread, from simple giveaways, to half off sales, to an in-Game dilithium acquisition system would work - it doesn’t have to be one thing. I wouldn’t mind seeing them added to the reward pools.
DB have claimed there is a data issue, which is why they want to limit slots. The client has to check against the server about what items are equipped, the crew level and number of stars.
DB could create a set of new slots just for immortalised crew. Crew could be moved into these slots from the standard roster, or from the cryovault like now. If the new slots are full, thawed crew would go in the normal slots.
These slots could be awarded from cryovault collections. Each tier of a collection adds 3 more slots. They could also be awarded for VIP, and purchased at e.g. 3 slots for 1000 dil, about half the price of current slots.
Additionally add another cryovault collection for super-rares, give players slots who have worked on the game, and probably paid money.

They've added so many slots to the game since they made that statement as to make it either no longer applicable, or bordering on ridiculous
They could also easily allow any crew, regardless of level or stars, to be vaulted and retrieved for free.
Currently they just record which crew (likely some Crew ID number) and how many copies you have FF/FE. They would just have to add 6 more fields to the table, Level, Stars, Slot 1, Slot2, Slot 3 and Slot 4. The level and stars would be a number. The Slots would be Y/N. Y if the slot is equipped and N if it isn't. Then every single crew could be put in the vault as needed so it could be worked on at a later time.
They intentionally didn't design it that way because they want you to delete crew. They want you to stress over it and get upset. They want to make it as painful as possible to encourage you to spend money on slots to "relieve" the pain. That's how freemium games work. The trick is finding the right balance of pain where you make the player as miserable as possible to encourage spending, but not so miserable that they quit.

They are already showing Fused Stars, so only five more fields needed!
