Six days is going to feel like a year...if there is another event 24 hours after the conclusion of this one, it will be the first event I'll not participate in. And I don’t think I'll be alone in that either.
This is a real letdown. I'm not completely opposed to the non-canon crew but for the end of a mega-event I'd like to see at least the 5* be a main character that is recognizable from TV/film if not widely requested. The whole idea of main crew as augment versions is ludicrous. I just have no interest in any of them. It would have been great to work in a Kira or O'Brien but this one...bah. Leeta is not bad but not that much of a motivator for me; certainly Augment Riker isn't. At some point during this whole mega, it would have been nice to have a shot at Joachim - I've yet to have him turn up in any pack. And 6 days? Actually, I'm kind of glad these crew are so uninteresting.
BTW, how many people have actually asked for *longer* Events? I keep hearing people asking for them to be shorter.
I don’t think anyone has asked for longer events.
Of course you are going to have the people who defend some of the crazier decisions DB makes, but those just seem to be intentional trolling or humor more than actual support for the decisions
No one has even bothered asking me if I want a month long event, so how would they know?
Longer events give more chance for exciting rewards, and allow people to go further than ever before. I suspect those complaining are those who will spend all weekend tapping and realise they may not be able to keep that up for six days straight. And that means that other people might stand a better chance of ranking well!
Of course, I expect someone will manage to set aside enough time to make 6,000,000VP points, but I've long since resigned myself to the fact that I value other things in my life, like eating, washing, and so on, that I will likely never rank #1 even if I had the dilithium to do so.

Ok having a huge Senior moment. What is a Expedition? Is this a remake of the Squirmy thing.
One caveat, expedition events have been the most modified event type, so some of the rule specifics might change.
They give you daily tickets (3/day? 6/day? I forget) to clear stars on 12 or so maps like the normal Episode 1, 2, 3, etc maps. Clear stars, get points. Like skirmishes, event crew gives you 2x points, "small bonus" crew gets 1.5x and everyone else 1x. Crew gets progressively more fatigued as it gets used more. Event crew and small bonus crew gets fatigued at a slower rate (event crew have 20 usages until they are fully exhausted, regular crew have 10 iirc).
Even if every single post in this thread was of a player saying they won't be spending money this week (which is not the case), that would be 147 people. Out of a player base of, what, 50,000? Hardly a drop in the bucket.
If people had voted for Cardassians or Dominion, DB would probably have featured Cardassians or Dominion.
The voices on this board are loud, but they aren't unified, and they certainly don't speak for the entire player base. And if you don't like what's on offer, don't play this event. No one is forcing you to.
Exactly. As Shan has pointed out time and time again the forum consists of a small subset of the player base. Hence at best tiny relevance for the revenue. Which, while not spectacular and with some swings up and down (which is normal considering the different week themes and different interests), is stable since time (there are sites where you can check the worldwide profit). So this profit down thingie is a fairy tale.
And yes again. The vote was on Augments, not Cardassians or Dominion. So hardly surprising that they don´t feature in this mega.
Yups, many voices are loud. And some of course have valid concerns. But many simply like to be loud and enjoy complaining. They complain to complain. That is their favourite entertainment
IM NOT DOING 6 DAY EVENTS. getting my last Bashir and out. Events need to be shorter not longer. I will not spend any money or resources on this event. This stupid idea needs to die in it's infancy

I'm willing to give the 6-day thing a try. It should be much easier to hit thresholds, unless they get raised. I'm relatively new and have no illusion that I can rank in the top 1,000. Probably not even top 5,000. You can take this as just one standpoint that may be different than your own.
My biggest disappointment is that Skirmishes were removed from the event. I don't know how popular they were, but if they were a two-day part of a hybrid event, then participation would hardly be necessary.
I hope players keep an open mind about this hybrid event with three parts. It's new to me and I enjoy the change of pace. If I don't like it afterward, then I'll be the first one back here to say so.

Exactly. Many times the wish came up here for new events, a new event structure. And this triple hybrid is exactly that.
So same as you I will first see how it plays out, based on experience before I formulate a concrete opinion on this.
Skirmishes were a completely new thing for part 1. I think they will reflect on that, also the feedback. And hope they will come back at one point soon. They were indeed a welcome change of pace.
So let me get this straight. You guys want us to spend money on this game, but put two of the most time sinking event types at the end and beginning of a work week, and extend it out to the middle of said work week? You have truly lost your minds and I have fleet members so disheartened over it they are contemplating leaving the game.

Awe! Are they gonna take their little ball and go home? Get over it. They don’t have to participate and STT life will still go on
Think about this as three shorter events instead of one long one and you'll be fine. The most time consuming events will bookend the faction, so it won't be a continual slog. Two days is about the time expeditons start to get tiring, and I'm an expedition lover. Factions for a breather and then back to grinding again for a brief period and based on the first two phases not that much will be required, we'll see. The bookend events are also the most flexible in terms of timing, so the impact on a typical work schedule will be the least.
I just hope that the expedition "cancel ticket" button is finally updated to reflect that tickets don't have limited time anymore and you have to "cancel" to reset the nodes and refresh crew...newer players in my fleet last December who were unfamiliar with expeditions were unaware of that and might have wound up just running their crew to exhaustion on one ticket before giving up if more experienced players haden't pointed it out. Also hope it's glitch free so we can look forward to another partial expedition in seven to ten months.
Think about this as three shorter events instead of one long one and you'll be fine.
Well, 3 events would have 3 sets of thresholds and 3 sets of rank prizes. You'd be able to play 2 days and get your full rewards. This is one set of rewards so you can't really look at it that way.
So, I am in a small minority here but there are parts I like about this event.
I like having six days to ff augment riker.
Also in the minority, not a big fan of the decision to include mirror leeta. Actually, not a big fan of leeta or the ds9 mirror universe, but thems the breaks.
Personally, I’m going to give it a shot. After all...this is just a game. If I leave the event having gained at least one thing I wanted or needed then to me it’s a success.
Sure, like many others I have invested a decent sum in this game but I did so knowing the odds/risk.
Anywho...my biggest struggle now is I have about 168 crew but no real focus. Trying to get myself on track. Lol
Tossing my pennies in the pool, but both Mirror Bev and Mirror Troi were extended events, over holidays, and had rediculous turnout for non-canon cards. So why on earth would anyone think that the fire wasn’t already built, tended and roaring away to do it all again? Personally, I expect Miles to have a huge Engineering skill, either base or prof, and suddenly the no-way, no-how clique is gonna become the for-the-sake-of-always-winning clique right back again. Or maybe they will make him super sexy like Mirror Troi to stoke the flames.
Troi was terrible to get, the amount of hours I sunk over the holiday to rank ~960 was utterly unacceptable (double digits, I think it was about 18 all said and done). If I pulled 18 hours, to barely scrape by, and I believe only by the grace of the infamous server crash did I not fall that last 40 places (let’s be honest, 400 places, it was the last 12 minutes of a galaxy) then the high end winners had to have committed 40+ hours. I turned in myself over 1000 bonus items alone to very nearly not make top 1000. That’s what your boycott/walk out is up against historically. I’ll get my Leeta, but I won’t be racing for Top again, I have better uses of my time, if he is the powerhouse I expect I’ll just buy him.

You're conflating desire for a character and enjoyment of an event. Just because people wanted a Troi doesn't mean they enjoyed the process of getting her.

3 tickets per day
If memory serves, we start with 3 tickets and then receive 3 more at daily reset (05:00 UTC), for a total of 9 free tickets over 48 hours. Also, the expedition ticket structure is more like the cadet challenges (5 missions, 3 levels) than the episodes (4-13 away missions, same).
Of course, as @Peachtree Rex pointed out, DB does like to monkey about with expeditions, so there’s a chance that it could be completely different. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mirror troi and bev were canon, just not on the tv show. Unless that is the disqualifier.
Canon generally means seen on TV or movie. Things like the novels and comics are not canon, they are licensed works.
Timelines is also a licensed work.
To take the comparison further, timelines is licensed, and kills people in stories and makes up their own versions of characters. This is licensed legal use of the characters, but has no impact on the greater story. The Mirror TNG is non canon, but comes from licensed source material.
You will sometimes see canon material come from these same sources. Like I know some of the movie title prelude intros and stuff in comic adaptations are considered canon.
how bout instead, we run a 4 day event with all three phases running concurrently? Play your way!
Sing it !!
I've been advocating for that for..
For months before even the first hybrid.
So much that when they announced the first hybrid I thought that this is what they were going to do.
I would love an event with all 4 event types running at the same time.
An Iron Man (person) Event
Have it run an entire week or 10 days..
1 combined points Rank reward table
4 Threshold Reward Tables, each only counting points from its specific event type.
Shuttle & Expedition
(The longest turn around between points and the most divisive event). Would each have a 5* at threshold end. 1 would be this events featured, the other would be the following weeks featured 5 star but would still produce bonus.
Skirmish & Galaxy would contain large Amounts of shuttle boosts, extra supply kits, chronitons and a different 4* character each.
During an Ironman, Voyages crew are not locked to their voyage (multiple places at once)
I could go on, but I digress..
(And duck from the volly of tomato's surely hurling towards my head right now)

@Shan maybe there's still time for the team to change it to something like 2days expedition / 2days faction / 1day galaxy?
Or 2days/1day/1day. ...or 1day/1day/1day.

No way.
Having one Event each year be six days?
...no problem..?
But then, I don't like to say the grapes are sour before I've tasted them.
