Its mildly annoying but 400K isn't much more work than getting 350K for the premium pull.
I kinda want this Spock although I'm a little leery of adding another 1/5 even with a decent stat combo.
I think I'll try to press for 350K whilst keeping my time boost use to a minimum. I will not use any shuttle rentals. We'll see where I get. I don't have Troi and presently don't need her too much. Not hurting on Med proficient crew even though she gets 65% Gauntlets.
Another thing to factor in is the bonus crew. For the Combs event, all Dominion and Combs were bonus. For this event it's only Kirks and Deanas for the small bonus. 400k is ludicrous with such a small bonus crew pool.
In the last faction I can't even reach the 350K VP, so with Goddes of Empathy Troi at 400K VP (how ridiculous thing!) I go for immortalize Apollo and little more.
Well...with the threshold changes, a depleted boost stockpile, and a Spock who is exciting but a personal disappointment, I don’t think I will being going all out here. We’ll see how far I get in the thresholds; if I get a Troi, that’s okay. If not, that’s okay too.
I don't really care about adding yet another 1/5* Spock, but I'd love to add a 2nd start to my FE GoE Troi. The free 5* reward should still be a challenge to get, and require regular playing throughout the entire event, but the 400k threshold is borderline crazy.
I propose the following changes to clearly demonstrate to everyone what their intentions are: Add the 5* rerun crew as treshold rewards at 40000000000000000000 VP instead. Why make the illusion that it could be used during the event when it's the last treshold reward?! It would be airlock material for many people who can get up to 400k VP anyways.

Exactly. Most people wouldn’t be able to get to it until towards the end of the event anyway

They're not after the illusion that it could be obtained, it took me some time to realise because I hadn't seen that in about ten years but they're running the good old Zynga economic model of extorting players.
Imagine you're me: you don't have a great roster but you got goddess troi by accident trying to get an extra star on doc crusher like ten days ago (they had a pack). Didn't care much for her, but seeing the rerun you think "I'm usually doing 100-120k during factions and goddess troi is going to be at 150 tops like last time". So you buy Durango Troi and that's probably the first time you don't regret money spent on this game. Well now that's not the case anymore. Every single time I have spent money here I regretted it, except the monthly card but every bit of dil i've spent on packs, I regretted that. Now they're pulling the carpet under my feet and invalidate my Durango Toi and goddess troi that I levelled up (and both were quite a PITA).
I don't play games to be frustrated and feel extorted, I have much more profitable ways to feel that way IRL. I'm not shy with my money and got used to spend money on (PC) F2P games because they've become so generous over the years. I thought I was buying an experience, but the one I got was disappointment, so I'm not bothering with this game anymore. It's design made by accountants not by people who care for the enjoyment of their players.
There's no illusion here, they don't want me to think I can get her if I want, they want me to spend hundreds on event packs to extort players who've already spent a bit on the event already.
400k is ridiculous. As others have said, the players who can clear that likely don't need the card. I would have needed it, but in the last event, I was able to clear 300k with a lot of stretch, but another 100k is out of reach, especially since the amount of event crew is lower.
I guess I'll not spend anything on trainers and shuttle rentals then.
My 2 monthly card only accounts can easily clear it and still need that card.
My 3rd monthly card only account is only 10 days old and scored 40k VP last faction event(it was only 3 days old then) without even sending shuttles every 3hs and with 2 shuttles only, so i think in 6 weeks, i will be able to clear 400k as well. Just a question of some serious effort, a good squad share and some slight strategy involved.
But yes, i don t appreciate it as well, that they moved the Legendary to the 400k threshold. But not a long time ago, there even wasn t a Legendary in thresholds for re runs. Soooo...

I have 10 crew for this one. I had 14 for Combs. I have better crew for this event although I am missing ENG crew. It depends on what the shuttles are like. The original event had 2-seaters and only 1 4-seat shuttle. I suspect they'll be gone but with enough 3-seat shuttles it probably won't matter.
I'm 2 yrs in to the game, nearly 400 crew, VIP not-quite-14, etc etc etc, and I don't have GoE Troi yet. Wasn't a strong enough player during the first run of this event, and don't really recall seeing her in any beholds along the way. I doubt I'm the only long-time player that's missing her.
I was looking forward to having her boost up my weaker shuttles starting Fri night or Sat morning, or at least giving me more options. I suppose I might still get her (I cleared 450K in the last faction event), but c'mon. Ugh.
Something I just noticed; we now have more 5* Spocks than all other Spock cards combined, and we only have 2 4* Spocks. Data is in a similar situation. I hope the next time we have a Spock or Data in an event, they will be Superrares.
I was debating if this event was worth it anyway for another 3/4 sucking up a crew slot. Now that the Troi is basically out of reach for me, it may not be worth it at all. I could clear out a few 1/4 lvl 1s and make some space but it’s a buzzkill to place it so high.
I’m not generally overly critical, but this is an odd move.

I would also love a three-star Data. Maybe him as a floatation device. Or with a telephone in his chest.
First time it was ran I ended with partially fused Kirk and Apollo. Since I've immortalized them and pulled Troi and got her to 3/5 with subsequent pulls. While I would have loved to see her at 100k or 250k so I could share her at 4/5 for a good portion of the event, I'm up for the 400k challange. I mean, I think I can do it, but I only notice ranking in events not raw score.

There are still a lot of Data cards they can do, come to think of it.

As I recall I had the threshold clear by mid-morning on Sunday for the last faction with the extended thresholds, and finished around rank 500 with right around 500k VP. I spent no DIL and used two shuttle rentals a night to run 8K missions. It requires consistent play with decent event crew (and fair shuttle luck), but it is certainly attainable.

As soon as I saw that posted I thought of you and knew you'd approve haha
Red shirt data would be cool too BUT there are too many data's already (more than a fistful of data's) so lets not
Frank did some broad strokes math for the last event that I think we could revisit here:
Assume the kickstart to 4K takes you 2 hours to accomplish. That leaves you 94 hours of event left until the buzzer hits.
If you only run 4 shuttles the entire time and use ZERO rentals - and you pass every single shuttle - and you wake up or set times to be on point and in the game every 3 hours for the second a shuttle returns, you are sending it right back out -
You only have 31 'sessions' of shuttles (with a few spare minutes added in) to get you VP. If you assume each session is worth 16k VP (4 shuttles at 4K, all 4 pass), you will end the event at 496,000 VP.
Doing a little more math: let's assume 4000 VP for the kickstart (may be a little high? doing this off memory), you would need 87 shuttle successes for 350,000 and 99 for 400,000 or average 70% & 80% of the shuttles you run if you run every available shuttle through sleep.
So I thought, let's do some simple math to account for sleeping: say 7 hours of sleep with one set of shuttles run = 16 total hours of lost shuttle time. That comes out to 26 shuttle 'sessions' exactly. If you hit all of those you would need to average 84% success for 350k and 95% for 400k.
The choice DB is presenting us is to lose sleep or to pay up (either directly in the event with boosts or indirectly to FF 5* event characters to meet that 95% success rate if it's even possible). It would take more than just broad strokes math to come up with how many time boosts you need, but I think that's the only option that could be considered "worth it" for old 1/5* characters.
Obviously if you were already planning to compete for rank this is moot, just do what you were doing and you might get a bonus. This is more for people considering just going for thresholds.
I am going to aim for 400K. If I get 300K, I will be happy, because I would like that voyage revival token.
I could always have another crack at the portal pull at 350K, even it just gives me honour.
I got there with 10 hours to spare last time, with limited bonus crew.

just here to add another voice to the massive disappointment over a 400k VP D. Troi ... I mean really, she's not even that great stat-wise (I mean, for MED/DIP crew we've got the recent Bashir and Cornwell) ... but she's a cool character so I was keen to pick her up, even as a 1/5.
I just made 350k last time around and I was "lucky" enough that it was a weekend where real life "didn't get in the way" of the game so I was able to send out plenty of shuttles (and saved all my bonus stuff).
I don't put money into the game (so probably don't have too much right to complain) so this is one of the few ways to pick up new 5* crew ... especially for Faction events in the new style.
Anyway, a real step back to what was a good improvement to the event re-run schedule ... two thumbs down on what was initially really cool (150k ... or even 200k VP would have been okay).

You can run doubles overnight (takes 9 hours instead of 7, I know) and you should have time reducers beyond what are needed for kick start to squeeze some extra rounds out. 400k is tough, but will not even get you top 1k. Still, what might have served them better (I hope Shan is reading) is putting the 5* lower in the chart and maybe putting to voyage token at 400k. Presumably you give away the legendary because you want to sell the quick level to 50 plus a copy for $24.99. That says to me you are looking for players willing to spend but still building crew. At 400k, you will get whales with 2 or 3 FF/FE copies hitting this early and probably passing. Players open to spending $25 who are not whales will start getting to 400k Sunday night and are more likely to pass on this because of the time remaining. I would have put this around. 250k if the goal is to maximize revenue without making the game too easy.

I'd like Mountaineer Spock and Goddess of Empathy Troi, but seeing what it took to get Captain Spock two weeks ago, and knowing a mega-event is (presumably?) about to start next week, I think I'll just take the one star I need for Apollo and hold onto my boosts.
