I guess it’s because I don’t look at it as oh my god I have to have every single card they ever throw at me. I just want the ones I want and like.

That's why I don't really put a lot of effort in most weekends. If I wanted to, I could get the legendary reward just about every week, but most of the time, I just threshold and out.
I have airlocked legendaries before, and I will again, but I'd much rather keep them, if I could, It just seems such a waste

I know this isn't what you're looking for, but the biggest long-term problem (and it's only going to get worse) is the sheer number of useless 1/5s.

I don't want to name names, but, anyone who's been playing for a while will have a bunch of 1/5 crew that only take up crew slots, whose stats are so low that they don't contribute to any part of the game. This is particularly the case for some of the older crew, but even a few more recent ones have been a bit of a bust.

As an example, yesterday I received a 5* from a merit pull, and instead of getting excited thinking "great, another legendary", all I thought was "well, that's one less crew slot".

Anything that helps get more of those older crew would be a great benefit. (both because weak crew at 4/5 or 5/5 rival or surpass stronger crew at 1/5 or 2/5, and because freezing them is better than the airlock)

I know there have been many ideas proposed, and some are better than anything I can think of. But perhaps an easy way to get citations that can only be used to give a crew a second or third star, so that the user will still need honor/beholds/packs to finish them off?
Or maybe two categories of legendary crew, keeping the current probability for dropping the newer legendaries (whether straight drop or behold), and an increased probability of dropping the older crew? (Silver behold?)

Here’s my idea to help this. Airlock them. You said yourself they are useless

But I won't airlock a card that I have already FE because it was useful back in 2017 or during their rerun event. And I especially won't airlock them if I already have them at 2/5* or 3/5*.
The problem is that even at 2/5* or 3/5* some of the old cards are way worse than a recent immortal 4*, so they are not citation candidates either. They just take up slots forever.
I have plenty of crew slots at the moment, so I can keep all the unfused legendaries that I want, just in case they will appear again in begolds. And I have a few cards that I was able to get to 4/5* simply by stumbling upon them in begolds over and over again, so I can understand why someone would want to keep legendaries, even if they don't have lots of crew slots.

I think that anything that solves the issue around unfused legendaries taking up crew slots would be a great improvement to the game, but at the same time, making it too easy to upgrade legendaries would probably decrease competition about the top ranks in events and could generally decrease DB's income.
So it would make sense to make it easier only for old and weak legendaries, that people wouldn't directly or indirectly spend money on anyway.

Freezer boost. Each level allows freezing one FE legendary that is not at full stars. I inagine it would need to be FE to make book keeping easier. They would be an interesting gain from a voyage or an event rank. Means you dont have to airlock beloved chatacters like scotty. I get more fun over collecting my favourites than a better statted character who was in one episode. Could be a higher merit cost to un freeze.

I'd like to have a possibility to get more voyage tokens. There could be minor tokens as well, which refill only 50% or 75% of the initial antimatter, but would be easier to get as bonus elsewhere than in thresholds.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I would like the possibility of getting extra cadet mission tickets as bonus as well.

Lesser Tokens is an interesting concept. A "Revive and Return" token would probably make players happy too.

Thank you DB for a game I enjoy coming back to!

I like a lot of the ideas I've seen here.

    Bonuses:
    •Additional Collections bonuses.
    •Additional Achievements bonuses.
    •Earned increase to AM.
•Earned increase to Honor. (Ie. Weekly objectives)
    •5* Crew drops on voyages.
    •Citation medal drops on voyages.
•Honor/Citation award, if everyone in your squad gets a featured event crew to a certain level during the event.
•Bonus AM/stats if your crew matches the vessel on your voyage. (Ie. Borg crew on Borg ships; Terran Empire crew on Terran Empire ships)
    • Increased chance of getting an equipable item you need for your crew through voyages, gauntlet, or shuttle missions. (Longer voyage- better chance. Higher gauntlet rank- better chance.)

QoL idea: Factions can be ranked up (like Prestige in CoD). You can leave the Faction Store items as the reward for the first rank, but additional ranks unlock Voyage revivals, rewarded Honor, 4* and 5* Citations, etc. And that would resolve the Faction points dilemma, at least for awhile, haha.
  • As a long time player, I really want a way to turn unwanted items into honor or merits (in addition to the ability to toss in the replicator). With such a large crew pool, I also think it's time to either increase the % of beholds you get, or somehow narrow down the pool to have a better chance of getting crew you need (especially 5* and 4*). I'd also like to see more stuff for fleets - maybe fleet voyages to something to earn 10x Premium Portals for everyone or something? I think a voyages based event type might also be really interesting. I want more ways to play where I have interesting decisions to make.

I think importantly we need to entice old players back, so working out why they left and giving them an enticement to return could be huge for the game. I myself have left for several months at a time.

All of the above suggestions are excellent but don't necessarily address this issue. Some come close though. Bonuses for crew older players are likely to have is an obvious one, but also I like the idea of catch up bonuses for new or returning players.

Anything that adds to the depth of theme might help too, so I agree with suggestions regarding bonuses for certain card pairings or themed by series. Tagging each card with the series it came from and adding a way to earn global bonuses for those tags would be awesome. Or even just using the existing tag infrastructure and giving global bonuses based on faction or profession ie a Federation Bonus or a Criminal bonus etc.
  • Honestly, after playing off and on for 3 years, I don't think bonuses are there biggest change needed, its fresh ideas. I would like to see something like a Red Alert popping up with a challenge like a ship battle or away mission that is at random times and offers random prizes. Also, I would like to see bridge crew matter. Having the random ship battle would be cool if it matched you up against another players current ship and bridge crew. Also gauntlet is just boring. It's always megaevent crew. I wouldn't mind an option to have a separate gauntlet that picks random crew and you have to play with what you got. That's all I can come up with.

The red alert idea is phenomenal! I like it. As far as gauntlet, I always thought if they incorporate the star level it could be more interesting. Say at one star the rolls could be 100-200. Two stars could be 150-250 and so on

  • It has been said above, but a ship collection system would be great (especially if combined with a ship sort QoL improvement).
  • IMAGINE THREE DABO WHEELS....

    One for Crew.
    One for Ships.
    One for Equipment.

Also, a good QoL improvement is the replication menu. There needs to be some way to identify the gear that's in there. I see a tuxedo, and I can't see the label... And the ability to see how many replications I have left for that day. That would be handy.

  • first off :

-Searchable ships ... it's getting crowded in there ....

-Inventory limit .... it's getting really crowded in there. It's hard to see what's what when trying to dump
them in the replimat .... Also we are literally getting bombarded with random items from the : dabo, campaigns , gauntlet ...

-Getting some kind of bonus AM for voyages or maybe even a token from the fleet star base.

-More ships on the dabo wheel ....maybe a bit better prizes ?

-There are sooo many gauntlet crew now, maybe allow for more then 5 crew to be added to a round ?

-Gauntlet can be dropped in the first ~5min if you picked badly for example ... cost can be incremental like the dabo wheel , 1st one should be relatively cheap and successive repeats more expensive until you finish a round.

    - Standard 1x pulls are starting to pile up (i personally am at almost 800 pulls now) it's beyond annoying to do each pull , return and do it again , eider allow for them to be converted to 10x pulls or allow for a pull again button ... I understand that 1x pulls don't give behold , to that effect maybe allow for a low low chance of a behold ?

-Add a blue crew behold for standard pulls for new players to get a feel for it and maybe get some crew taht they will be using.

    - Allow for 1x premium pulls to be converted to 10x ones.

-Allow for ship schematic replications, allow the scrapping of schematics , then use said scrap(s) for a ship schematic replication that you have discovered.

-Allow for beholds to be re rolled at the cost of credits > dil > more dil. Just add a small button to eider re roll the whole thing or one above the 3 crew you got. Or add a 4th option ?

-Add a honor giving room to the Starbase, most fleets don't get much use from the replicator rations that you get.

-Add rooms that automatically generate certain resources like : trainers, honor . These rooms could run on a new resource that you could get by running voyages. And donating it to the Starbase with it using up a chunk of it on a daily basis. With more / higher levels using up more. Since ships in Star Trek use Deuterium that could be farmed on voyages.

-Allow for Discord links in fleet MOTD , by allow i mean a link that is active.

  • -Allow for beholds to be re rolled at the cost of credits > dil > more dil. Just add a small button to eider re roll the whole thing or one above the 3 crew you got. Or add a 4th option ?

I don't think that's the kind of suggestion this thread was looking for, but it's something that lots of players, myself included, would probably be very happy about. So +1 :D
  • Starbase only reward:
Have a dedicated Starbase Only ship, and to get the schematics, you donate to get them (maybe donating items from your cargo bay inventory, and definitely NOT holoemitters!). Once unlocked, that ship can have specific bonuses that no other ship has. Once everyone has the ship 100%, the next level is 4* Citation?

    Fused Events:
Galaxy portion (Day 1) – instead of SR rewards, you achieve levels of crew bonuses (like Starbase Bonuses, % skill) and ship schematics to be used in part 4.
Exploration portion (Day 2) – kind of a scavenger hunt, go on away missions and lots of scanning in various sectors based on clues from away missions to acquire needed items for the last 2 phases.
Expedition portion (Day 3) – again, acquiring bonuses, items and additional rewards like you would with Skirmishes & Away missions.
Skirmish (Day 4) – Build your Event ship(s) and level up with your rewards
I want to become a Dilionaire...

Regardless of the delivery mechanism, I would find the following in-game bonuses useful:

    1. Honor
    2. Dilithium
    3. Voyage recall time reduction, scalable downward from 40% to 10% of elapsed minutes.

As to the last one, if my Voyages returned sooner, I would log in more often and click on more ads for free stuff. LLAP

P.S. Even though the OP did not ask for it, here is my suggestion for a bonus delivery system:
Idea for new bonus delivery system:

    Galaxy Map Exploration

    1. You pick one card from your existing crew that still needs stars.
    2. That card is removed from active duty (similar to shuttles & voyages).
    3. That card is assigned to a 1* ship and must visit every discovered location on the galaxy map, over a certain length of time (one month?) and via manual astrogation.
    4. At each planet, that card must complete a rigorous set of tasks/challenges/battles, in order to progress to the next location.
    5. Upon completion of the above, that card is returned to active duty.
    6. Bonuses could be tiered & varied by type, depending on (4.) above, up to and including a star for that one card.

  • More honour or the early year legendaries drop rates bumping up significantly.

Although I suppose it's not really a 'bonus', unless as an addition-by-subtraction type bonus, I've always wondered why players have to spend merits on shuttle tokens. We all have a limited number of shuttles (accounting for our stockpile of shuttle rentals and various boosts), so what is the point of requiring shuttle tokens?

Eliminate shuttle tokens altogether and alleviate the burden of having to spend merits on them (this is especially cruel during faction events). How many shuttle missions we can run is already limited by the number of shuttles and boosts we have, and the amount of dilithium/cash we are willing to spend. Spending merits to get tokens to 'spend' seems unnecessarily redundant.

The bump to our merit stash would be quite the bonus!
  • I'll join the chorus on honour, or at least the ability to get early 5* cards to reduce the x/5 cards that have become less useful and are taking up space needlessly.

In addition I'd like to see another couple of difficulty levels placed on episodes to act as almost endgame content - one being an "Are you crazy?" level and an "Illogical" level.

McCoy's "Are you crazy?" would require the top cards of each skill, and require RNG to hit over 75% of said cards proficiency.

Spock's "Illogical" would require the top cards for two skills, and require RNG to hit over 90% of said cards proficiency.

Rewards commensurate with the hair-tearing difficulty of getting the needed cards, and RNGesus feeling especially benevolent that roll.

This would be really fun. I'm at the point where I'm really itching for a true challenge and something like this where there's a specific, hard-to-reach goal is fun. I feel like I have some of the best crew out there and would love to test their mettle against an insanely hard challenge like this.

I've mentioned this to DB before, but I'll repeat it here: please add a small amount of citations to the squadron rewards in events. This may spice things up a bit. We all need citations and the squadron rewards as they are now is junk. Nobody pays any attention to it.
Fleet Admiral - Dazed & Confused 🤸🤸🙃 We are still waiting for Enterprise B, the Delta Flyer, and a Runabout! We should also have a TNG season 1 red shirt LT JG Worf, and a "Far Beyond The Stars" DS9 episode crew collection!
