So I am reiterating that this thread is not about adding new rooms to Starbase or QoL improvements unless there is a QoL in-game bonus you can think of.
So asking for a revamp of this or that is not relevant to this thread, and not as helpful.
Thank you.
Reading comprehension ftw peoples. Let's help Shan out here.
My subtle statement about DB having the means to earn the rewards was ignored. Your straightforward statement doesn't seem to help. It's really weird. Trekkies are known for remembering the smallest details of the shows. But this request just flew right by.
Let's focus on the REWARDS please, and not the method to earn them or QoL. Thanks in advance!
(And thanks to those who already paid attention because your reward ideas are GREAT! Loved reading them!)
- Faster way to get honor. A lot of great ideas people had over here. Recently it takes me almost a month for each citation. If I were one of getting a new gold every event I would be in serious trouble really fast. And will not be spending money on pulls just to get a purple over and over again.
- In that remark: You guys should reconsider de Gold DropRate at the pulls. Maybe think of a prize for the ones who clear the threshold giving a Pull with a higher % chance to get a gold.
- Pulls with a higher % Gold DropRate, maybe on special packages, because people get annoyed of paying for a random pack and recieving a purple every time. I myself ignore them all the time, only risk on those 490 discount pack and with reservations. Also might be interesting to review the price of pull specially if you leave that low gold drop rate.
- One guy on facebook sugested that longer voyages 10+ hours might give you old gold cards. At this point there are a lot of golds out there If there isn´t a way of getting more stars fast it will eventually loose sense, specially if it takes you 1 month per star.
- Maybe all non mega-event events should have a Gold as a threshold, or at least in more events.
- Events other than faction, skirmished or galaxy.
- Also another event outside faction that you could just leave for a couple of hours and actually go out and have a life, at one point it start seeing like a weekend job those events. Not so much fun and a kinda of work.
Sorry if this is a repeat of ideas already put forward but there is just too many read.
Types of bonuses I would like to see added to the game:
1. Everyone in your fleet gets a gift whenever someone in your fleet buys a pack or special offer. The gift could include dilithium, honor, voyage tokens, and/or supply kits and the amount/value of the gift you receive would be scaled to the size of the purchase and certainly not random. Everyone gets the same gift.
2. Give us an honour reward whenever you fully equip a certain number of characters even if they have not been fully fused. This would help us buy citations.
I'd like to have additional ways to earn 5 star citations - or increase the amount of honor. The reason being is that the honor amounts are small, and therefore I don't use them when I have the balance needed for citations because I don't want to make a mistake in regret redeeming the honor. It comes down to something similar - in video games I won't use the strongest gun because I don't want to be caught without ammo if I need it. I end up finishing the game without ever using the gun.
Now, if you were talking about new ways to earn them - through new features. I have several thematic ideas and features that would be cool.
Bonus honor when you dismiss immortal crew would be nice.
Synergy bonuses would be cool too. For example, 3 disco crew on a shuttle or away team mission together each get +10% to stats. Same for 3 Klingons. And matching crew to a ship reduces initialization times or boosts shields.
OK I'll drop the bomb: a big fat honor bonus. Why? Because I'm tired of seeing 1/5s in my roster. They don't have long-term value, they're a drain on crew slots - I have 155 and it never feels like it's enough to keep up with all the new things I can't really use. It also makes me not want to play competitively in most events. Why bother with a reward I can't use?
There's no long-term benefit for anyone with the current honor earning rates. I've played online video games (mostly PC) for the last 15 years and every single one of them was able to grow and survive while providing satisfying progression to everyone, yet in this game you're acting like giving away anything but crumbs threatens the bottom line. Like, why are we still getting 1/5s freebies that will stay in the mail forever? That's the very definition of a poisoned gift. Why can we only max out 1 or 2 legendaries a year with honor? They're your normal cards, they're not "legendary" but in name only. Etc.
Do something about honor and reevaluate player progression please. That's an opportunity to make a step in the right direction.
1. Additional Honor any way we can get it
2. Reduction of cooldown timers on cadet/Arena/scans
3. Reduction in time/cost to recall voyages
4. Dilithium
@Shan our fleet does In-Fleet Gauntlet Challenges where we all join at the same time and just play without the use of dils. This is for our fleet only and the 100+ players in our fleets love it. Merit refreshes are allowed, and the winner in our fleet gets to use a special tag next to the fleet tag, which is (SST GC) for Gauntlet Champion. It does not matter if our GC ends up in 1st or 5th or wherever, just as long as they are the highest finisher in our fleet. We run three different times on the same day every few weeks so it does not get tiring or boring. We looked at fleet vs fleet but then it gets to be who can spend the most dils and that takes the fun out of it for the players.
We also allow our players the choice of adding a extra tag for the highest ranking player from the event, which is (SST EC) for event champion.
We also are looking into an arena and voyages system, but that is in the early stages. All of these added things have brought back some added enjoyment to our fleet and the game.
Raising Captains levels with bonuses, VIP levels with bonuses and an official Fleet leaderboard next to the Squad leaderboard with fleet rewards such as trainers and honor points as well.
Regarding shuttles, I would like to see shuttle tokens as a reward for doing missions. I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but, it would be nice if you received a crew bonus on shuttle missions if the crew matched the faction! (Get bonuses that could stack for using all Klingons in a Klingon shuttle, for example.)
Items not currently offered as an in game reward:
CREW SLOTS!
Voyage Antimatter
Voyage Dilemma "Behold"
Fleet Rewards
A method to exchange crew, either in squads, fleets, or general game
Wild Cards, Random themed items with special, perhaps unique powers such as crew transfer, gauntlet match victory, Arena victory, Voyage time jump to next dilemma,
New rewards without methods is a difficult task! A "new reward" would only be useful in how it relates to game play. I would like to list my current reward priority:
1. Gold Characters! (Because they are so rare and development is so difficult.
2. Dilithium (Although more useful than gold characters the game does have defined ways to earn dilithium in small amounts.)
3. Citations
4. Honor (The best but slow way to develop gold characters)
5. Merit pulls or any other system to redeem a chance for characters or schematics
6. Merits (Because they can be redeemed for merit rewards and a slim possibility of a useful character or schematic
7. Voyage Revivals
8. Shuttle Tokens
9. Shuttle reward multipliers
HUGE GAP
10. Shuttle Boosts (I earn all I use in the cadet missions)
11. Chronitons (Although the basic fuel for the game, I find the time I can spend playing the game is the limiting factor, not chronitons)
12. Credits (There is just nothing worth taking the time to spend them on)
13. Schematics (Although the ships are interesting, the only place in the game better ships are essential is in the arena... But the arena rewards are schematics making this a circular process)
For New rewards to be exciting or rewarding to me, they need to impact the items towards the top of the list
I think in general a way to complete my 1/5 legendaries.
So Honour, citations or beholds (that could be for older legendaries). Another way would be a themed pack with a guaranteed legendary character.
I like the idea of your Starbase earning a behold. That way its a team effort and everybody gets to discuss their choices/wins as a team bonding exercise.
In the ship area voyage revival tokens are always useful and maybe ship schematics for a ship you can't earn any other way (like gauntlet crew).
As I understand it, you're looking for a new system for in-game rewards. How about this?
1. Fleet vs Megaship: Take a Megaship, like a Borg Cube with huge stats. Just like everyone contributes to a Starbase daily, have each player in a fleet able to engage/skirmish with the megaship, like in the Arena. Damage to the megaship would be cumulative, and carry across the days. After some number of skirmishes - like 1500 - the megaship would be defeated. Award each fleet member a 5* citation.
Each month, change the ship: Doomsday machine from TOS, Sphere Builder ship, Xindi Planet Killer, etc.
A second idea: Something else to build. Why should a starbase be the only thing that a fleet can build? Each month, have something new to build: the Array, Outpost 4 on the Neutral Zone, Memory Alpha, etc . Make it a significant enough structure/object that the fleet could contribute to it/construct it for an extended period of time. Make the recipes out of ordinary components that accumulate in inventories, or change starbase components to a more generic "building block components". Reward all fleet members with 5* citation upon completion
A third idea: Construct a roster of planets to "join the Federation". Establish some sets of criteria for a planet to join the Federation: A certain number of away team missions to the planet, immortalizing a character from that planet, etc
Easily should be a way earn more honor. You already have a framework for expeditions, and you arent using them in events, so give us honor expeditions. A single day activity, like on wednesdays between events where we use our crew to earn honor in the same way we would earn VP, by critting nodes on various difficulties.
How about unused antimatter from recalled voyages rolls over to the next voyage.
And why can't Intel be earned in smaller amounts between skirmish events? This would allow players to stack Intel prior to skirmishes providing more competitive gameplay, and less hunting for the top Intel providing mission which costs chrons. One possibility could be shuttle missions dropping Intel for a few days prior to skirmish events like winning faction rewards drop chrons now.
And, of course, more honor. Possibly make a 5* citation randomly drop in portal pulls instead of a character. Perhaps 4&5* citations could be added to gauntlet rewards or dilemma rewards.
Thanks for asking. It helps when players feel like they have a voice.
Biggest reward in my opinion is a way to use all the 1 Star legendaries I’m the roaster, especially with the power creep we have older ones are totally useless and it is a shame. I do not want to airlock any legendary but they are not worth using honors or citations on.
Ways to earn bonus:
Themes: Complete x hour voyage with a theme crew/ship. Introduce a half dozen, only announce 1 (say Ent-D crew) and watch us go crazy figuring them all out. Give bonus for the voyage, make finding them an achievement. Can also do it with chapter missions. For shuttles give bonus items for passing with a theme crew. Some themes can be easy (like any version of Picard counts toward ent-d) some harder (need specific versions for Bounty).
Weekly challenges: unrelated to daily challenges that change every week. X number of successful shuttle missions w/o failing one. Equip x number of crew. Do x number of shuttle missions/away missions w/o using any warps. Complete a chapter on x difficulty with only Klingons, etc
Bonuses
Antimatter boosts to extend voyage w/o dill or revive token. Can be different amounts.
Crew slots. Maybe just cadet quarters to store x number of common-rare.
Replicator uses. Maybe something like supply kit that extends replicator to unlimited uses for short time period.
Crew boosts that give all crew +x% to x skill for a time period.
Behold refreshes.
I feel like Captain level rewards could be beefed up. Currently it's only a Chroniton refill and Credits and every 10 levels or so is 20k Honour. Maybe every 5th level we could throw in an extra reward like some 10x portals or citations. They could also get better as your Captain level gets higher. Simpler rewards for 5, 15, 25, 35 and 45. Then ramp them up for 55, 65, 75, 85 and 95.
I also like the idea of weekly mission and even weekly fleet rewards as suggested earlier.
I think the 6 hour dilemma should be a guaranteed 4* and the 8 or 10 hour should have a guaranteed 5*. You can make a pool of "older" legendaries and have those drop.
Looking at the thread it seems as if honour is the thing that is most requested, from my own personal point of view this is something that I would like to see happen as getting a legendary doesn't really impact my crew options anymore unless they're immortilised (unless their number is lucky enough to be called in an event).
I realise that suggestions for how weren't asked for but I thought a mechanism for increasing honour from packs (not necessarily starbase bonus', campaign rewards and other straight drops of honour), may be to to provide an achievement that increases the percentage of honour dropped from airlocking crew, based on how many unique crew members you have and so incentive immortilisation (probably not an issue for most in the forum, especially with collections and the benefit to voyages and events of having a deep roster). But it would mean that as there becomes a reduced chance of obtaining useful crew in the portal the amount of honour you receive from airlocking crew would increase and so help immortilise the crew you are struggling to obtain, your own personal white whales.
I realise that the above will benefit longer term players more but if increments are even then the gap wouldn't be too disproportionate between players, although it would be up to DB to work out a "fair" way of increasing increments. But I think something in line with 1% increase in honour dropping from airlocking crew every 25 unique crew immortilised would be something that could work (possibly more?).
On the basis that there are currently 784 unique crew in the portal the maximum increase in honour would currently be 31% which I'm sure you could count those players on one hand.
I don't know what others think about the above but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.
Thanks @Shan for taking the time to ask us, and sorry that so much of this thread isn't giving you what you want; to be honest it's a bit of a challenge without knowing the delivery mechanism for the bonuses. But if you manage to wade through to this post, some bonuses I would like to see:
- Possibility for a better honor rate when dismissing crew (or just bonus honor in general - it's the thing I look forward to most in skirmishes)
- Beefing up ship stats for battle (preferably for the stats on the ship itself, and not for the crew boost, as that could cause some extreme game imbalance)
- More chances to earn legendaries (if we're talking about existing mechanisms, then more things like Lucille Davenport in Collections, Commanding Officer Sisko in Achievements).
- There's also been mention of older legendaries in Voyages, which I suspect is outside of the scope of this thread, but they could make for fun rewards in other contexts as well
- Extra cadet tickets, since that are a reliable way to get rate items
- Shuttle tokens and Voyage revives are both fantastic items that no one would complain if they got more of
- an Antimatter bonus would also be greatly appreciated
