Mirror Mariner as gauntlet exclusive is setting some terrible precidents
in The Bridge
This new gauntlet exclusive is problematic in these ways.
1. They are not useful in gauntlet (1st ever)
2. They were introduced 2 months after First flight archer.
2a. There was not enough time for most players to get Archer.
2b. There was definitely not enough time for those trying to immortalize archer from gauntlet alone.
2c. They were released before the much needed / requested behold for past exclusives was added to remove the pain point of the dilution of past gauntlet exclusives and challenge to obtain those hard to get crew.
2d. Archer had half the time of the previous shortest gauntlet exclusive tenure (Locutus at 4 months), and much less than 1/10th of Armus's tenure.

This really wants to make me go F2P or quit at all.
This game is going down the hill(imho) and it hurts to see it….
From my understanding, when you hit the gauntlet jackpot, there are two outcomes - 50% chance to hit the current reward and 50% chance to hit one of the past rewards (6.25% chance for each currently with 8 previous exclusives).
Will adding more voyage exclusives water down the odds of you hitting the one you want by them sharing the jackpot chance or do they all share an equal chance along with any super rare crew that would normally drop from the same dilemma?
And +1 to the gauntlet behold idea.

Agreed, unknown if it is intentional or not, but they put the good gauntlet crew as a voyages exclusive and the strong voyage crew as gauntlet. Which is a bold strategic move to get players to switch focus...or another mistake.
And yes, it should absolutely be a behold for old gauntlet crew. It would encourage people to play more, because now, it's so diluted, you play to get your one copy and you're better off using citations than keep playing.
This was the only time I got just a single copy of the gauntlet crew while they were featured. My previous lows were Guinan and The Caretaker, and I got 3 of each of them while they were featured (aside from Locutus who was only briefly featured when I first started and was far too weak to compete for more than top-70 in the gauntlet).
Also, where is the communication? If not for this thread and me subsequently checking the gauntlet, I would have had no idea the featured gauntlet crew had been updated. The lack of communication on the forum and especially in-game is pathetic!
I think a minimum of 6 months would be a good amount of time for each featured gauntlet crew, so we would get a new one twice a year. Frankly, I wouldn't be opposed to doing 12 months and getting a new one once a year, maybe halfway through the timelines convergence day calendar each year.
I can tell you through experience quitting is very liberating. It’s like kicking an addiction. An addiction you didn’t realize your entire day was centered around. And my bank account is alot fatter now too
I will say, though, there's a bit of nostalgia in this absence of communication. Takes me back to the days of the old forum. Everyone was still figuring out things like which of the launch crew had the right traits to unlock nodes in missions (remember needing Grand Nagus Zek and hoping he dropped?) and which cadets could clear which paths on which difficulty levels (which led to Riker's Angels). For that matter, even ascertaining which crew existed was a group puzzle in the earliest days.
And now there's a new voyage only legendary card? Was the Chakotay card replaced or can we still get that one? Because despite voyages every single day I have not gotten one copy of that Chakotay card
Any chance they mixed up Black and Mariner? Black looks like a better gauntlet crew.
It's certainly Mariner in game as the Gauntlet crew. But looks like the mistake was made earlier and it should have been Black added to Gauntlet instead. It would be nice for @STT Community to comment now and address this before waiting a week and causing even more problems trying to change it then.
Unfortunately, the best turnaround time I can see is 2 days, given timezone differences. Wouldn’t be surprised if the @ mentions are turned off by default. A private message may get a more rapid response.
Wonder if that’s changed for Chakotay then.
Hope so. Chances are slim enough as it is
Chakotay could drop from any as well, not just SR ones
I thought they said Chakotay would drop from any dilemma after 6 hours
In that case i have misunderstood what WRG Ben said, mentioning that he was in the pool with the Super Rares
There ARE Super Rares that come up with definite Dilemma choices, but after 6 hours ANY crew including other non-dilemma specific SRs can drop in outside of dilemmas.
That is what Ben said. That when a dilemma occurs that drops a super rare, Chakotay is part of that super rare pool. It’s not just any old dilemma and I’m sure if it was someone would have produced a real life example
Then i feel that there are contradictions on what is being claimed.
1. He can drop from dilemmas where a super rare will drop
2. He can drop from any dilemma
Bot after 6 hours that is
There was also a lower chance from dilemmas that drop other voyage specific crew.
I believe super-rare dilemmas only happen at 6 hours or later. The only chance of a super-rare before 6 hours is a voyage specific crew at 4 hours as the second of a two parter.
He can drop from any dilemma after 6 hours. Some dilemmas only drop 4* crew, do the odds of chakotay dropping are higher. But theoretically he can drop from a 2* dilemma. It's just very low odds. Like getting a 5* from a credit pack.
For what it's worth, I haven't seen anyone show chakotay dropping from a 2 or 3* dilemma. So this is partially speculation. But it's how I understood what Ben said.
Either way, I doubt they changed logic at all here. Just added Black as a new crew in the pool of options.
In my ears that doesnt sound logical, since there are way fewer uncommon/rare crew than there are super ares, which in my logice makes it easier to get from the uncommon/rare dilemmas. Anyway that is slightly off topic.
I think Black is also far too early, with less than half the players having Chakotay.
I do wonder if WRG has panicked about a downturn in playing recently, and shoved these in quickly.
The QA aspect has been overlooked due to getting rid of the QA person, and they got swapped.
If I ever get Archer, it'll take forever to immortalize him. Not exactly the change I had been hoping for.
UPDATE: two minutes after posting this, I received a copy of Mariner. Still not sure how to feel about this.
