Super rare refers to name that DB assigned to all 4* crew... 5* are legendary, 3* rare, 2* uncommon and 1* are common...
Come join our fleet! We're a great social group that helps each other. You play the way you want to, participate as much as you want and if you want to be competitive, you can be! Check out our fleet ad. Run, don't walk, to Quark's Holosuite!

Cool to see another Expedition event finally, and I'm glad I Immortalized my Mirror Uhura.
Now to decide if I should work on leveling my Super Rare Dr. Crusher, or work on the rest of my Mirror crew?
Is Dr. Crushed really super rare, or is that sarcasm, or is the term here used because she is 4*? I've only been playing almost two and a half months. I have her at 2/4 stars.
Haha, it's actually the official terminology.
5* crew (also informally called "golds" by some people) = Legendaries
4* crew (aka "purples") = Super-Rare
3* crew (aka "blues") = Rare
2* crew (aka "greens") = Uncommon
1* crew (aka "grays" or "greys") = Common
2* and 1* crew also referred to as "Cadets". Which is kind of confusing now, since they added the weekend "Advanced Cadet Challenges" that require 3* crew, who are never referred to as "Cadets", but there you go.
The above terminology also applies to components and items. So a 4* Database (Panel) can be called a Super-Rare Database, etc.
Personally I give others in my fleet a hard time when they refer to ranks by colors, since I can never remember which ones are green and which are blue (even though I've been playing for about a year ). So I either use the numbers or the terminology. And numbers are faster to type.
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing. ~ Data, ST:TNG "Haven"
Due to the extended duration, the thresholds for unlocking rewards have been increased, and additional threshold rewards have been added.
There is absolutely no connection between prolonged event and higher thresholds for rewards. The way it was sold to us was, that as compensation for once again badgering us with a five day event, we get additional threshold rewards. This way it's simply a scam.
But: For this event probably (depending on how crazy DB goes with increased thresholds VP) most people will not find it too difficult or grindy to achieve the additional and increased thresholds due to the Faction/Expedition combination (although having a family holiday season certainly does not help). Ranked rewards on the other hand might be more competitive due to the increase and there might be a calculation behind it. Neither Faction nor Expedition are the event types DB makes a lot of money with. But still, my guess is the impact will be limited for this event.
Here is why it's still a mean move: The next event will almost certainly be a Galaxy event (three weeks in a row without one? Dream on!). And there, even the usual threshold rewards without the "bonus threshold rewards", will have dramatically higher cost than usual. And so something that was presented to us as compensation becomes another greed-based move to get even more money out of us.
Mr. Prince asked us in his ingame mail: Try it out and tell us what you think.
Well Mr. Prince, I think this blows! Probably thought we wouldn't see behind what this really was, right?! Sorry, but we did!
BTW, I don't think it's too bad events get prolonged over the holidays. Ideally everyone should have a few days off, and if that's how you make it possible, then by all means, enjoy your holiday. The real problem is that REGULAR events are way too long to begin with. There is no time to catch your breath and it all feels like one big never ending event and not like different ones.
Get that Mirror Jadzia finished for the megaevent. Her 2X bonus makes her the best SEC in the game.
Edit: OK, at one star, not the best, but still pretty good.
Best 4*. There's a number of 5* Mirror crew who have better SEC - Reed, Bashir, Worf, Kira have straight out better, and other crew have comparable SEC.
For instance, that Mirror Regent Worf is going to have 700 SEC, just 14 less than Jadzia, for a much smaller investment.
When they said a mirror universe event, I wasn't expecting most of the new characters to come from some random comic book that I have no interest in reading.
Most? In the first 3 weeks we’ve had 10 event crew of which 3 are Next Generation crew. How is 30% “most?”
I'm too lazy to find the quote, but (earlier in this thread) there seems to be a category of players which only 5* new characters are relevant.
Thanks for the advice, all. Dr. Crusher turned out to be VERY easy to level to 100. I'm kind of disappointed with her stats at 2/4, though (Hopefully I'll be able to put more stars on her soon).

Yeah, I'm glad this event gave me an excuse to work on Mirror Regent Worf. He's been sitting on my back burner for a long time, and now that I've got him at level 100 he seems pretty beastly.
The real problem is that REGULAR events are way too long to begin with. There is no time to catch your breath and it all feels like one big never ending event and not like different ones.
This, "events" to me are something special, not the majority of the time, scrambling to prepare only Tues & Weds while vaulting people to make space for the influx of new crew.
It must be a challenge for people with 9-5 Mon-Fri jobs to try to do well in events which run 4 days Thursday through Monday. I could be mistaken, but it seems to me the majority of the player base would enjoy more relaxed development of crew on weekday evenings, and playing events for a couple more involved days on the weekend. I like events, but there can be too much of a good thing?
Shorter weekend events I think would help to avoid fatigue and foster more longterm play.

Then you could end up with two shorter events per week, one weekend and one weekday. The top 2k players would still try to play every event "just to keep up" with new release power creep.
The 9 to 5 thing is why I prefer expeditions. Expeditions have great flexibility on when you play. Use your tickets anytime before they reset. And they still take less time than burning through the massive stockpile of expedition chronitons in a galaxy event (which I could/should be using for character improvements.) Factions use the least amount of time, but they're a 3 hour dog whistle you have to put life on hold 5 minutes. Not to mention timesink of ramping up the start of the event in the middle of the workday.

Anything could happen. But that's not what I was advocating for, nor is one the cause of the other. Why would it? We're asking for the one weekend event to be shorter, not to add more.
Yes, I'd still play every event to keep up with new crew, but that doesn't mean it's ideal or would keep me in the game longer.
Like you I enjoy Expeditions and am in the camp that prefers the newer version. I'd like to see more variety of events too, especially flexible ones.
Now that I'm in the flow of the game, I like Factions (despite the drag of the 3rd and 4th days) - but I have an irregular schedule and the flexibility of setting 3h timers at night, and the lucky buffer time and ability to fall asleep again. If I had a regular work schedule that might be more of a challenge, and it's not healthy or feasible for everyone to split up their sleep like that.
To do well in an event, I don't think players should have to alter that much our sleep schedules (Faction) or to divert the entirety of our resources for 4-5 days (Galaxy). It has the effect of many players simply getting discouraged and giving up when they would otherwise want to play.
I hope for the game to be as enjoyable as possible for as many players as possible.
Noob who played for awhile and then took a year or more off and recently started again so can someone tell me what's involved in expedition events?
It's like playing regular node missions, except that:
1) Missions do not cost Chronotons
2) There is 1 ticket to play a full set of missions, while that ticket is active, any crew member that plays on a mission losses ability permanently during that ticket to play other missions.
3) There are 3 to 4 nodes that have to be played/passed in all 3 difficulties, each greater difficulty give you more VP.
I personally dislike expeditions very much, but when they are really so far away one from the other, it's ok. I used to like better Faction mission events, then Galaxy Events and far, really far in the end Expeditions. My preferencies have changed! I prefer Galaxy, then Faction and in the end Expedition events.

To elaborate on an important aspect: using a crew on a node causes fatigue that remains for the duration of the current ticket. -16% for a standard crew, -5% for featured coming off the base stats. Missions unlock just like the episodes, so in order and easiest to hardest. You have to run the missions just as you would to get *** ratings normally but the crew you use gets worn down.
It's an event about crew management, unless your roster gives you an unlimited number of high end crew to just throw at it.
I'm actually excited for Mirror Bev. We all know me, MED characters are my schtick and something I always push for more of. I just wish she wasn't the 5*, she's going to take some work to get. Thankfully I have a lot of dil saved up, I may pull some packs for her, don't know yet.

Mostly useful for comparing the potential difficulty for achieving the different threshold rewards and how they are modified once that is released on Wednesday.
May I ask why so few events have community rewards at this point? I am a fairly new player and the community rewards would greatly help my progress.
Community Rewards are only {currently} for Galaxy Events. I would not think it would be bad to have them in other Events, too. But, they currently do not.

... because she is 4*. Especially in the early times of the game, "Epic" and "Super-Rare" were used interchangeably for crew members.
Not really excited by the crew, but no doubt one of them has some ridiculous stat you cant live without
