haha, i was just in the middle of writing this. personally, i don't mind non-canon characters. i was a bit miffed that majority of featured 5* crew were from the comic.

No it doesn't, they are very different. Also there's nothing at all that says Mirror Broken is non-canon at all (granted, there's nothing that says it is either) it's an officially licensed product from Star Trek, so there's a good chance that it actually is canon when they get round to saying that it is.

Mirror Broken is more realistically canon than Timelines actually is, when you think about it.

Korrin - i have to disagree with you. I've heard it referenced in different forums/podcasts, but the widely-accepted definition of Star Trek canon is: if it happened on screen, it's canon. Star Wars is different. SW canon includes books (and I think comics too).

    Memory Alpha even states it:
    http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Canon

So TV shows & Movies are canon. Books, Comic Books, reference books are not. Fan productions (even those with previous ST actors) are not either.

but seriously, we have bigger fish to fry than whether STT includes comic book characters. like, why does DB keep going back on its word? First, the extended events were to give an opportunity for players to spread out their playing over the holiday weekend. Then it was, "we'll give you higher threshold rewards as a bonus." now it's "no, we're going to make the event harder for you since you have more time." All while beating around the bush in the fact that db is simply extending the event since their staff is out of the office.

DB - no one sees through this. We get you have a holiday. that's fine, no one is criticizing you for doing it. But all this double-talk/justification/spin just makes it so disingenuous that makes us say...

    DB, Do Better.

Very bad move! Thresholds should have remained where they were, just new tiers added. FYI everybody, this means that the 3rd threshold crew is at 150k-200k no, not the old 130k. You don't get to treat thresholds and rank as a 4 day event with bonus time, this is a full fledged, drug out harder 5 day event.

This is EXACTLY the OPPOSITE of what we've been asking for.

Unfortunately, the whiners players who were not hurt in any way by DB giving the rest of us a chance get what they clearly REALLY wanted. Less chance for those of us who needed the extra time. {I will have a whole, huge HOUR to do Expeditions Tuesday morning.} People really need to start giving feedback with their credit cards.

You posted several times, so it was hard to pick which one to quote... but that said... As has been pointed out, DB generally runs events on holiday weekends that extend because they allow their employees to have much needed time off. This has been and presumably will continue to be the case.

The events are also largely driven by the US Calendar (and Eastern Time). It is where the company is based, they have made some small accommodations in specific areas, but for the most part this has been and will continue to be the case.

Moving past these points, you have indicated in multiple threads that you play in the library and are on limited time to play... and have generally referenced that here. How exactly do you propose them to schedule the event for "those of us who needed extra time"?

No matter how you slice it there is going to be a shortage of your time playing the game based on your personal restrictions compared to someone who can play 24/7 at their convenience. How would you like DB to change the event? (Honestly, the only way they could even the playing field for YOU is by shutting the game off for days when the library isn't open or some other patently ridiculous suggestion - otherwise you will always be chasing those with more available play time).

A very good example of print items from the early days of Star Trek ending up being proved as "canon" was the "Star Trek Starfleet Technical Manual" created by Franz Joseph? in 1975. How was it shown to be "canon" you ask?

It included various classes of Starfleet ships, including Scouts and Dreadnoughts. Among those Scouts were the USS Revere (NCC-595) and the USS Columbia (NCC-621),as well as the Dreadnought Ententes {NCC-2120}. Now, comes "Star Trek: The Motion Picture". Among the communications heard is the order for those two specific Scouts to rendezvous with the Dreadnought Entente {NCC-2120} to intercept V'Ger. So, clearly print can be "canon". I highly doubt that Dark Horse? or whoever is doing the comics is doing them unlicensed.

I must ask, if you like playing this game why don't you just buy a smartphone? Then you won't have to play at the library and be subject to their schedule. You can get prepaid smartphones for next to nothing and they don't really cost much to maintain service. Having regular internet access is very useful, even for things other than this game.

Just curious. No offense intended, but even my 85 year old grandparents have internet access at home and use it.

I've starred the characters from the comic. I would hardly call 3/10 "most".

Please don't be melodramatic. By definition most characters have been canon from the show, and have included much-asked-for characters like Mirror Jadzia and Mirror Mayweather.

I fixed your list to show the 5* characters for this event so far. 3/4 From the comics. I'd say definitely pretty comic heavy.

And how many people get the 5* character without buying packs?

The characters that most people will be getting and keeping are canon characters. And the canon characters we are getting are ones we've asked for.

Honestly, as someone who only gets 5* characters as ranked rewards in Galaxy events, and doesn't buy packs, it doesn't bother me.

Most of the crew that most of the playerbase will get, are canon characters. The hard-to-get crew are majority comic-based, but that's the majority of a minority you're talking about there.

And besides...they're fun mirror versions of great characters (bad art notwithstanding...). I'm getting pretty tired of people complaining that a non-canon game has non-canon characters.

Yeah...I don't like making comments like this, especially because I know financial situations can be complicated but...if you're spending money on this game, yet have no way to play it at home (due to either lack of internet or lack of a device)...maybe you shouldn't spend so much money on the game?

Also, frankly, you can't expect a company/game/whatever to perfectly fit your very unique situation. It **tsk tsk**, yes, but you have to realise most people can play at their leisure at home.

    All round good.

3 main cast crew who definitely need more love and a faction, followed by an expedition over the important days. Nice!

Now please can we have art that does them justice? I.e. looks like the actual crew they are supposed to portray?

Predicting this here, the event usually scheduled to end on Monday April 16th 2018 will instead end on Tuesday April 17th. The rest of the world thinks of it as a normal Monday, but DB's office in Boston will be closed for Patriots Day.

When that happens I think we can all realize that DB reschedules the events for their staff, not for the players.

Sure, but most companies don't then say, we're making a change for the benefit of our players when it's clearly for the benefit of their staff.

I wouldn't call it damning. It's a fact that companies have holiday schedules. It makes logical sense not to have events start or end on a company holiday. Now that in itself doesn't mean that the event has to be extended - they could start a day late if it's ending a day late. But there are possibly logistic reasons against this, and certainly revenue reasons.

That's the thing, all they had to do is just put new prizes on a higher threshold level, and let things ride. They've got families, most folks have some form of families, friends or endless reruns on the Christmas Story Marathon.

So its good that they give some of their folks the day off. It's a bit inconsistent in vision to then raise the threshold bar for their customers.

Tone deaf is a lot of what I've been seeing, even with the good stuff that they've been delivering.

Yep, that's the one they'll use based on the one they picked for Data.

They'll use the comic art for Bev, just like they did for Data and Picard. The Data art was bad because they messed it up, frankly. The source art was iffy at times, but not bad.

The problem is with the source art you spend $5 for the comic and enjoy it for the content. DB is asking for $100 for art they didn't even create that is an eyesore. It is excusable to see art like that on one of 15 pages of a comic. I think most of us enjoy the artwork the most, but some of us buy these cards for the stats and their gameplay abilities. This card is also sub-par for those people as the stats are below some of my 4* cards. At the end of the day DB is turning out lousy artwork that they just copied and pasted from preexisting art and slapping abominable stats on it and asking us for a crisp C note. Try harder DB seriously.

I'm not disputing that the art is bad (it really is). I was just trying to prevent people from using the comic as a scapegoat.

DB's art is bad because DB's art is bad. Saying that it's bad because of the source is silly.
