While the decision to grab Yar from the most offensive episode of TNG is perhaps a little tone-deaf, at least it's another Yar, which I approve of. Although personally, I'm still waiting for Naked Now Tasha...

    And Data's line...?

I am... fully functional... programed in multiple techniques... (EDIT: No joke, as long as my memory serves me right)

Hahaha, we need to give Data credit for being the OSB (Original Sex Bot)!
  • Glad about Gladiator McCoy. Bread and Circuses is one of my favorite TOS Episodes.

As for Yar, I all for a new Yar, but that episode she was in is as bad as Trek can get

The only issue I've ever really had with "Naked Now" was that it was what.. episode 2 ? 3 ?

It was Soooo early on that an episode where everyone acts drunk and weird is premature.
The characters needed to be a bit more developed, to a) make it more funny and b ) be drunk better.

A good example is in season 4 episode 2,
When Picard gets drunk with his brother after they fight in muddy puddles.

    Oh, and the hair curl.
Can't stand the Tasha hair curl when she's drunk.

Episode 2, yes. We didn't really have a handle on how they normally act at that point to appreciate the humour of them acting oddly. For all we knew, this wasn't out of the range for them. Very odd of Gene to go with that to establish his characters. No wonder Dorothy Fontana refused to take her writing credit for it, as her original story had been mangled beyond recognition by the time it reached the screen. Every behind-the-scenes book I've read about production on season one says this was a major problem - Gene narking off most of the writing staff by rewriting everything and making things worse. Justice was another prime example.

It's saying something when the episode where everyone acts drunk and promiscuous isn't one of the five worst of the season. It comes close though. I remember Jon Frakes hating on this one as well, he wasn't very complimentary of some of the early episodes, though he grudgingly gave Naked Now some dues for taking risks with the format, something he felt they didn't do enough of in later seasons.

The thing that grabs me is that noone hates on the TOS ep that it is a sequel/shout out to... The Naked Time. I wonder if it may just be a generational thing. (The Naked Time is where we get shirt off Sulu)

Many of us (and I state that having had this conversation with a bunch of folks when it aired at work and school) who grew up with TOS saw it for what it was... a shout out to say that we are connected to the past and will give it a bow. And also it wasn't something where you shook your head from a continuity standpoint like ENT Acquisition.

Now they could have picked something else to do that with (and they did several times with such eps like Relics). There was apparently a plan to do a sequel to "A Piece of the Action" that never materialized --- I wonder if the TNG casts distaste of this one soured folks on doing it.

Frankly I find the one main discussion of the problem and solution between Crusher and Picard to be an actual enjoyable campy yet comedic moment.

Sequel to "A Piece of the Action" via TNG would have been amazing. We might have seen the mobsters controlling 20th Century style Mega casinos all over the planet. ;)

He was indeed, and while we could only guess what happened in the Naked Now between him and Yar, he does confirm it on his tribunal with Maddox, by saying that he's keeping a holoimage of Yar because they were intimate.

This was actually an idea they considered for DS9 as the 30th anniversary special, before of course settling on what became Trials and Tribble-ations.

Maybe they cannibalised the idea for The Royale?

The Royale came to mind as well, when I posted that message. Great minds?

It appears to have come up more several times but never across the goal line except in the comics.
  • I suspect this one will be worse. Seven's base stats are all garbage compared to her rolls. As a faction character she's one of the worst you could pick. McCoy's med is going to be largely unused, no matter what DB does.

Basically, this event will go to the spenders and anyone with Aviator Yar.

At least seven is one of the 4* rewards so should be attainable. I'm not going to bust a gut trying to get a 5* McCoy.

Looking forward to this one, as I have all McCoys, Sevens & Yars apart from Aviator Yar, and nearly have all of the fully equipped as well. Interestingly, it is a purple not gold crew that I am likely to share as squad leader as Seven of Nine, de Neuf & Dark Ages are not strong base skill crew.

Leaning towards Temporal Agent Seven as my sharing choice, what are others thinking is the best choice here before having the new event crew operational.

I'll be sharing Aviator Yar, but I think the second best option (aside from any Event Crew you get and level during the event) would be Dark Ages McCoy maybe?
  • I'll be sharing Dark Ages McCoy. Seven tends to be weak, even FF/FE 5* versions.

Dark Ages has a big MED, but his DIP & SEC are quite weak. They are going to be sub 1k even with event bonuses.

My thinking re: TA Seven, her SCI, ENG, & SEC will all be over 1k shared, so with AND slots will be quite useful.

It really depends on how high the main skill is, because on X and X shuttles, the secondary skill counts as only 1/4 of its value, so Dark Ages McCoy or Aviator Yar might be the best shares.

Agree it would be helpful to have more reruns. When we have a new event, include one older crew.

For every event, feature two legendary crew as the ranked reward (at least one of them being an old crew), who individual players can choose between at the end of the event. This will make it a more custom experience, more in line with the advertised "Assemble a crew of your favourite characters."

Everytime they feature two legendary crew outside of Anniversary Events like Convergence Day one is pack only.

Yes, that's how it is currently. I was suggesting something different.
  • I am currently goingto share Dark Ages McCoy FFFE, but that could change depending on what levels I have Aviator Yar ff 60 or Mademoiselle de Neuf FF 80.
  • I always wait until I send the first 10 or so shuttles, and see who comes up most often on top, then I share them. Has worked well for the last few Factions.

  • ALong with the theme would have been nice for Ushran Archer and Klingon Quark

Are we sure the Tasha is from "Code of Honor?" I mean, it makes sense, but they could go all non-canon on it, too.

There's no way it isn't...That's the only time she was really a "Duelist", unless there's an episode I don't know about where she plays Yu-Gi-Oh.

Could be like Klingon Neelix -- art is canon, the character not quite.

I typed Justice, but meant Code of Honor. But, yeah, it's probably that Tasha.
