I like Tasha, but Code of Honour is a godawful episode to be taking inspiration from. This sounds like a sit-out for me.
"Code of Honor" is truly dreadful and easily the most offensive episode in the entire canon. At best, it's tone deaf. It seems particularly egregious to bring up that specific episode given the appalling statement made by the President about predominantly black and brown countries such as Haiti.
For anyone who's forgotten, here's a pretty clear analysis. A key excerpt summarizes what makes the whole thing problematic:
The Ligonians are portrayed as a primitive African race -- a decision completely arbitrary to episode’s plot or the original script -- and speak in thick African accents, dress in stereotypical tribal garb, and are ruled by sexual appetites like ancient barbarians. The Ligonian chief Lutan (Jessie Lawrence Ferguson) kidnaps Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby) because he is amazed the Enterprise has a female security officer, and wants a strong white woman to be his “First One.” The kidnapping leads to Lutan blackmailing the Enterprise crew for the vaccine, inappropriate and contrived discussions between Yar and Troi (Marina Sirtis) about sexual attraction, and Yar and Lutan’s other wife fighting to the death (in yet another rip-off of the original series - the battle from “Amok Time”).
That article goes on to quote key remarks from some of the principals involved, including Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner, both of whom have some strong words about how offensive and racist it is.
I really hope McCoy is MED primary, SEC secondary, and SCI or DIP tertiary.
We desperately need more strong MED crew and I've wanted a Gladiator McCoy for a while.
I'd definitely aim for this event hard, I have strong Sevens and a strong McCoy so I could do decently I imagine.

What's interesting is that is does demonstrate one thing -- all groups can exhibit discriminatory behavior. Something folks in my city are struggling with right now -- and its has caused some serious divisions amongst some groups that have been historically very beneficial the communities that they are in and the groups they represent.
Its a shame that is done with such shameless caricatures that are really beyond the pale.
It's what Sly and the Family Stone were talking about.
Probably not. As I mentioned earlier, this is a larger event crew than the current event.
The current event is a nightmare!
Quark only has 2 variants 4* and above, not including the event Quark.
Q has 4 variants 4* and above, not including event Q.
Burnham has 2 variants 4* and above, not including event Burnham.
That's only 8 event crew. And I'm not bothering to count 1-2* because yeah useless for a shuttle.
And the 4*+ Burnham Non-Event Crew less people have, as well.
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
Burnham will be airlocked instantly by so many on these forums so that knocks it down a bit for them
People dislike Discovery and are very vocal about it. I love Discovery, but I haven't needed to start multiple threads to express that sentiment. So I think there will be a healthy number of Burhhams. Happy people are usually quieter about their happiness.

Some folks dislike D as well but keep the character from a completionist standpoint or to use as leverage to get the characters they really want.

I watched two episodes of Discovery and will never watch another. If crew has good stats i don't give darn who or what they look like, their photo could be blank cause it doesn't change outcome of ship battles, arena battles or any other battles, i never choose keep or airlock any crew based on their appearance in any of star trek shows or movies.

I agree! My wife and I love Discovery as well, especially the recent mirrorverse episode, but we really haven't voiced our enjoyment as viamently as others have except to maybe co-workers & friends. But we also love most sci-fis in general, Star Trek or otherwise. For example, we also enjoyed the recent Star Wars movie, although I know there were many who complained about that too! Don't get me wrong, there ARE definitely shows & movies that bore us half to death, or annoy or confuse the hell out of us, but Discovery definitely wasn't one of them....

That's not nightmarish, its kinda good actually. I think the Mega's tend to spoil people during faction events because they got used to the idea of filling every seat with bonus crew.
A more limited crew selection forces people to consider where to put their crew to best use. I have 2 Event and 6 Bonus crew and I try to manage everything to keep 4K shuttles above 80%. I am sacrificing some Voyage ability for this but that's nothing new for Faction events.

Or you just run less shuttles so you don't drop below 4k because they put the bar high enough that you really do need bonus and event crew to get a good deal of missions to succeed.
Agree it would be helpful to have more reruns. When we have a new event, include one older crew.
For every event, feature two legendary crew as the ranked reward (at least one of them being an old crew), who individual players can choose between at the end of the event. This will make it a more custom experience, more in line with the advertised "Assemble a crew of your favourite characters."

Everytime they feature two legendary crew outside of Anniversary Events like Convergence Day one is pack only.

I quite like the limited number of bonus crew. Otherwise it really just get's too easy.
I like a smaller number too, but serious thought needs to happen when DB decides it will be less crew.
For example the current event, we just got Tactical Burnham maybe 2 months ago? The only other high star Burnham is First Officer Burnham, a 5* who was pack only.
So that leaves only Q and Quark as the likely crew most event players will have, and between them there are only 7 variants, most of which are 5*s, aka the lesser likely crew that people would have.
And additionally if DB is wanting to be more inclusive of newer players, this event is disastrous for that ideal. A newer player, if they were around when Tac Burnham came out, would only have one variant of the event crew. All Qs and Quarks were released a long while back, they haven't been recent.

While the decision to grab Yar from the most offensive episode of TNG is perhaps a little tone-deaf, at least it's another Yar, which I approve of. Although personally, I'm still waiting for Naked Now Tasha...

It's saying something when the episode where everyone acts drunk and promiscuous isn't one of the five worst of the season. It comes close though. I remember Jon Frakes hating on this one as well, he wasn't very complimentary of some of the early episodes, though he grudgingly gave Naked Now some dues for taking risks with the format, something he felt they didn't do enough of in later seasons.

You just got given five new crew slots gratis, what more do you want?
Created a kingdom. Reached for the wisdom. Failed in becoming a god.
Thats still pretty crappy for a faction event. But the so is the phase one of this one.
Galaxy that'd be awesome.

I would prefer more TNG Voy, DS9 and Ent characters 1st though, but I guess with a new series it is a way to Capitoline on the new interest
