There are a lot of bonus crew for this event, can't we have a bit of mystery for this one time?
The bonus crew will also be updated once the mystery crew is revealed.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but the need to update the bonus crew implies that this character has other variants. If that's true, it means that the character is either Sarek, or not from Discovery at all. The name of the event also implies that the 5* will be a Vulcan.
I think that the smart money is on Sarek, but they could really surprise us with a nice new Spock. That would be very fitting for the 500th crew.

I don't actually mind Burnham - I think the character is poorly written, but I like Sonequa Martin-Green's portrayal - but four versions in a month, and especially two versions of such similarity was always going to trigger a little bit of irritation. Especially when so many Discovery crew have 0-1 versions available.
It's actually a little weird to me that Desert Burnham is going to be the 2*; to me that's a more unique version of her than the 'bad hair cut, but red not white shirt' version we're getting as the 4*. I would have flipped them.
Shan the reveal came out as soon as you released the silhouette. Multiple people picked it out within minutes. Which makes the final reveal, well, a 'whatever'.
The 'mystery' brought about relatively little hype with more jokes, etc than anything actually positive.
Nope, the mystery was how will DB screw up this release? And now we know. Added to Dabo a day early, and oops, reveal comes a bit earlier.
He is no longer technically the 500th crew available in the game. He's #497 since Prospect MB/Ambassador Shras/Desert MB are not available yet.
So Kung Fu Sarek as expected, duh. Ambassador Shras, awesome. “Prospect” Burnham, another Burnham but that’s ok as long as it’s different. Oh wait, they pulled a Janeway and out of all the many possible Burnhams, gave us one with the exact same haircut as another, and only a slightly different outfit.
Personally, I would’ve preferred another Burnham if we have to have her. Another Tilly or Lorca would’ve been awesome or even one of those bridge officers whose names I don’t know. But if we had to have Burnham, it could have been season finale Burnham, or Terran Empire Burnham, Crystal Planet (Pavho)Burnham, Sneaking on board the Klingon ship Burnham, or any others they could think of. Well, it’s still probably a decent crew member so I guess I’ll reserve my real judgement for later, though I’m sure someone other than Burnham would’ve been best.
Altogether, I think we’re all getting a bit burned out on Burnham, but if they keep making ‘em as good crew, most of us will keep using ‘em.

Tactical Burnham came out several episodes prior to the episodes about Pavho. She’s suppose to be either for that episode where they go on to the Discovery’s twin and get chased by Ripper or for when she tries to give the Vulcan Hello to the Klingons right before the battle at the binary stars. She’d fit the chased by Ripper episode perfectly if she were actually wearing a tactical vest like she was in the episode. Also, if they ever make a Pavho Burnham, they might then put the vest on her and give her a rifle instead of a pistol.

I really HATE not getting ALL of the event info on Friday. I would much rather have full details with a "Subject to Change" disclaimer than have a surprise pop up with little time to react on Tuesday.

Agreed, but since this is an Andorian and DSC themed Megaevent, it stands to reason that DSC and Andorians would be a good bet.
I've not bothered leveling any though, with the bags of Burnhams and other DSC crew from the previous mega I'm in pretty good shape event crew wise.

I'd love to agree with you, but you know what the reaction would be when that information did change. "I spent my time leveling X because you said so, now X is not a bonus crew."
The real issue is 6 days before an event DB doesn't know the final details of the event.
