Someone please correct me if my memory is mistaken. But when the schedule of this Mega event was first posted. Wasn't Skirmishes listed as being one of the final week's events?

I hated the megaevent, sorry to say. Serves me right for even voting, let alone actually caring. But this is not really what I hoped for from a DS9 mega.
Sick of the made-up characters, absolutely hate and refuse to play an extra-long event, skirmishes are okay but it's yet another event type I can't hit top 1000 in.
Oh well. I'll walk away with a 4/5 Bell Riots Bashir for nothing but some time and that's pretty great! In the future I'll just have to stop paying attention to votes and mega-events and just take it a week at a time. Crew I like? I'm in! Crew I don't? No big deal to sit out. I'm disappointed, but it's a good lesson.

To be honest I was hyped AF with Romulan and then DS9 event.
Romulan was a total disappointment, and this left a lukewarm taste in my mouth.
The way to improve a product is to critique it. Blowing complement smoke in DBs face when they give us something stupid like Augment O'Brien isn't helping the product. I use to spend more than $500 a month before I became increasingly less satisfied. That isn't a lot of money.
$500 a month
Riker: "That isn't a lot of money"
Me, whose rent is 400 a month: Uh.... I sure wish I live in a financial boon like you apparently do where $500 is "not a lot"
My rent is $900/month. $500 is a lot of money to me at this stage in my life, most likely to the vast majority of the player base as well, but as was stated, entertainment budgets are relative to the individual.
There will always be people who spend lots of real money on a game--for whatever reason and justification they see fit--and that's completely okay. Many people can't because, ya know, real life stuff doesn't afford them the time or financial investment.
I completely agree that critiques by players provide valuable feedback for companies. DB has attempted to listen to forum feedback, but I think their interpretation might be skewed at times as shown by some decisions they have made. However, sometimes they have been on point with their decisions. This extended hybrid event has yet to even happen...and there are pitchforks everywhere with no justification other than "I don't wanna" or "the small segment of players who are active in the forums are generally against longer events".
While a company saying, "if you don't like it, don't play" may not be the best business tactic--it is the truth. Events are a supplementary aspect in the game with 100% voluntary participation. In fact, the entire game is voluntary. They will never, ever, make the entire player base happy. Even if they gave us a free FF legendary, there would still be people griping. If they shorten events or extend them, players will still spend money and/or participate regardless.

One minor point of contention I have: events aren’t really a “supplementary aspect” of the game at this stage in development. They have become the main feature for both character release and story development, as well as being a primary use of player’s time over the 96 hours in which they are active. Episodes, distress calls, and cadet challenges have become little more than places to farm components and equipment to level crew, while the gauntlet and arena are the major time sinks when not in an event.

There's another side to the coin here, where there has been very consistent forum requests and even outside the forum on Facebook and in the game-wide Q&A about shorter events or at least negative feedback before and after longer events -- and not just from one or a couple loud voice(s).
One could easily say that DB decided against shorter because they 'don't wanna'.
If no one had been saying anything about event length, yeah go for it. And folks giving negative feedback on this is NOT in a vacuum. We've had the 5 day ones before, sometimes a hybrid sometimes a straight one event, so we know what longer feels like. The ONLY difference here is that all three legacy event types have a phase.
Or maybe you don't remember Christmas 2017 (Hybrid) ? Thanksgiving 2017 (Galaxy) ? Christmas 2016 (Expedition)? Labor Day 2016 (Faction)?
At least those were holidays for some folks, not working days.
It's like telling the kids that hate Brussel sprouts that hey, try it again you'll like it. Really, its something new...its a Trussel Sprouts, and don't complain about it.

Lost in the shuffle here is a repeated DB issue rearing its ugly head, lack of planning or foresight. DB didn't plan a 6 day event, they said hey, wouldn't a three phase event be cool, and then even first announced it as five without realizing they should balance the phases. DB isn't saying they wanted a longer event, they just didn't take event length into consideration when planning, and now are paying the PR price.
I would not be surprised if they change horses mid-stream here and audible to a more traditional 2 phase, and I actually think that is the right thing to do. Personally I would kill the galaxy portion, but even as someone who loved expedition events, I could accept if they just killed them off completely with an announcement today. Better than waiting 6 months to a year between each one with changes each time that make them like a different event.
One thought I had that might make the 6 day event more palatable: extend threshold rewards with desirable items (large amounts of honor, credits, etc) and provide ranked rewards for each phase. The rewards could even differ between phases, with the most profitable phase likely being one where the equivalent citations were offered. I’d be far more willing to compete if I thought I could get a 3/5 crew without spending $100.
Not sure what to make of it. The head (hair) looks like a younger O'Brien. I am happy he isn't wearing the trademark holes-in-clothes outfit though, that always seemed silly to me.
Very curious about Leeta, we can hardly see her like this. Will have to wait until tomorrow ;-)

He's wearing the TOS augment clothing from when they first met Khan.
Boy, I sure hope that head wasn't just surgically removed from an early TNG version of O'Brien that they've decided to forgo in place of whatever this is. (Like, perhaps a one star Encounter at Farpoint O'Brien, who fans have been clamoring for?)

Nope. Last event was always a tri-hybrid.
Like you, I thought part of the triple hybrid event was going to be a skirmish...could be another case of the Mandela Effect..............

I thought the same, but it was my mind playing tricks on me. I was pulled up on it a few days back, double-checked, and I was wrong.
