For a collection of people that generally claim to not care about arena (too boring!), or ships (just need one maxed 5* for everything!), or skirmishes (just use 1 bonus crew and get max points!)... you guys and gals are seriously up in arms about ship ability stats. When is the last time that could be said?
Yes, I get it. Bait and switch. Not cool. But even with skirmishes, ship battles are a minor part of this game. Keep it in perspective. Absolutely ask for compensation if you feel like it - and good luck.
Took that nerf hammer right to the kneecaps didn't they?
I have a Yar, pretty powerful but TBH I already have better crew for my Bounty so its not like I needed her for that. As for arena balance, has anybody checked the arena lately? BoP with Kang and usually smiley, Spheres with T'mir and Bounties as far as the eye can see. The arena balance is already pretty lousy, this OP Yar wouldn't have messed it it up any more than it already is.
I am glad she was nerfed. She was bad for arena balance.
I am glad I had lead of my squad so I didn't have to burn anything to get 1/5
I wish luck for those seeking compensation. Getting the ol' bait-and-switch is a ton of feel-bads
I wouldn't count on anything if they use the same precedent set by the nerf to Chaotica
Chaotica Nerf was nowhere near the same other than timing.
Chaotica got nerfed with a complete retuning of burst damage abilities. All burst damage abilities were reduced in percent, and Chaotica remained tied for the best burst % after the changes. So it was like a "system rework" that left him in the same place in comparative power as he was before.
This is a straight up direct targeted nerf, and mechanical change to a specific card. If they had just tuned her up to a 6 second initialize and touched nothing else, it would have made a lot more sense. As is they completely gutted her
Commander division = kang smiley
Captain division = sphere with fast initialize abilities
Admiral = 400% abilities
Yar was not OP. I wasn't holding my ranking very well in a T'ong with 2 Yar. I tried 3 but I wasn't impressed. Maybe 3 FF would be stronger, but that would have taken months to achieve.
Lecutus is much more OP than Yar ever was. The problem is, is that too many people don't know how to build their own crew. They look at the top 25 in the leaderboards and copy.
I submitted my ticket within the first 10 minutes asking for a refund. I suggest you all do the same!

Thing is, it's really rare for DB to release something that potentially has a large impact on game play. Most releases are a character with a stat that's 50 points higher than the previous record holder, which translates to a fraction of a percent better performance for the next event.
A 2 second initialize, +9 attack, 375% instant damage crew though? That's both a large increase compared to other comparable crew and a reduction in the tedium in the game as skirmishes and arenas will end up taking less time.
This is illegal you just did a bait and switch.
I spent $25 an $10 in hopes of getting her. I spent ten dollars on boosts to place in to 15. I also spent numerous dil. on boosts to stay in top 15 all for her ships ability. Iwill be sending in a ticket to customer support asking for reimbursement.
Edit: I also spent $24.99 on DYC something I had stopped doing. But I wanted another copy of her.
There can be no agreement that can make something illegal, legal.
Trying to make an agreement to make something illegal, legal, makes the whole agreement null and void.
Main message from DB which is sent to all players.....don t be ever sure if we advertise cards with certain status or ship abilities. New Crew with ENG 1400+ base....well maybe we nerf it to 1300+ a couple days or weeks afterwards.... and so on.
Luring(no matter if intended or not)players with high Crew status and/or ship abilities so they buy packs, use dilithium to buy extra shuttle boosts, or to speed up shuttles and so on, and nerf the advertised status 8 days!! after the packs went live, is just WRONG on so many levels. This is not building TRUST.

This just might get me to ask Google for a refund.
I bought packs just to get one Yar and now the main reason I got her is gone. I understand DB'S reasoning here, but like others have said, it leaves a bad precedent and it stings a lot.
The other question is when did they decide this? If they decided during the event and had let everyone know, I wouldn't have used all my time boosts and over 150 dil. I didn't get her, but I still spent all the time and resources to get really close. It is worse for those who paid to double their crew and pull packs. If they were planning to do this, it should have been mentioned during the event. If they decided after the event, they should specifically tell us it was after and explain their reasoning. I don't want to assign nefarious intentions; it was more likely they finally caught on that she was a problem. But their response is badly handled.
They should reasonalbly and rationally and appologically and logically explain the situation and associated problems. Then they should outline a couple or three different possible solutions and invite input. That would build understanding and trust. Then they could nerf her.
This is illegal you just did a bait and switch.

Why is it a bait and switch? Don't recall her ever being marketed as an arena breaker or skirmish monster.
She's just the same as every other 5* event crew. Some people will burn some boosts to get top 1000 for a 5* crew regardless of quality. Others will buy packs to get her regardless of placement. Top place finishers bought a FF copy to get another FF copy of her. As they do every single faction event.
For the record. I have her, I spent boosts for her and didn't even realize what her ship stats were until the event was half way done. For some reason I wanted a Yar with high CMD. So I got her with minimal effort.

I knew her ship stats. It was the only reason I went after her. They sold me her because of those ship abilities. I warned them during event any attempt to nerf her would be bait and switch.
Too soon to suggest a universal sending of Stretchy-Face?
😉
(I hope you all know that is NOT serious.)
I'll take a free copy of Mr Stretchy Face. I'm entitled to one since DB was boring and not made him a part of any collection I need. Inflicting boredom up on me is a much more serious crime than some nerfed arena crew.
I won a single copy of Yar in the last event (I placed in the 300's). Even before this nerf, she wasn't good enough to make my arena crew unless I bought more copies to up her attack value -- which I did not do. So, I'm not feeling personally impacted by this. I competed in this last event for the joy of competing, not for Yar.
But those who spent dilithium/money to get multiple copies have a legitimate beef here and deserve to be compensated. Her unique arena ability was the only reason to go for her.

It is a bait and switch because they offered one thing and quickly provided another of lesser quality. It does not matter that they did not say it was an arena monster if the person buying it knew the stats and their impact. I am glad you were not adversely impacted. However, I was prepared to coast this weekend and just do threshold and maybe only to the 3rd Ross. Then I saw about her ship stats. I changed my plan, bought a couple of packs in hopes of getting her, spent chrons and resources to FE her, and burned extra boosts to lock a top 1k finish. I did not spend much, but I did spend something and it was specifically.for the ship stats. Just sayin'
Besides letting them in advance know that nerfing Polywater ships abilities wa bait and switch I also told them a legal way to get the same job done. That was to shorten cloak initiallization.
Some of the comments about how the admiral division is too uniform (like the captain and commander divisions) don’t seem quite right - there are a ton of people using T’Ongs and cubes as well, with a few holdouts still using the ISS Enterprise and a rare Discovery or Krayton popping up from time to time. Unlike the other divisions, there are many ways to combine crew in the Admiral division that can lead to success...Polywater Yar’s pre-nerf abilities were simply one additional strategy, one that people have been able to avoid with the right complementary crew.
None of this excuses DB’s change, however. A small tweak here or there is fine but this is not such a situation. As usual, communication at various points in the process could have made all the difference: DB discussing the perceived effect on the Arena in more detail before release, announcing that player concerns over a potentially overpowered crew were being reviewed with a decision to be made by a certain date, not sending messages to people who placed in the top 1000 or got Yar from packs to offer compensation for anyone who would take issue with the nerf...so many opportunities that fell by the wayside.

Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity. Or in DB’s case, an absence of QA testing prior to releasing crew, ships, and features. If you trust that they aren’t going to make mistakes any longer, I have a bridge to sell that you may be interested in purchasing.
You know what it is completely fine, if they want to release an officer without testing it or making sure that said character is balanced, and then changing it a couple days after the fact, as long as they are willing to reimburse everyone who was ripped off in the process for their lack of foresight and their ineptitude. The Mirror Picard Fiasco was basically stupid and bad judgement, but this time its actual fraud and misrepresentation, and complete and Utter BS.
Then insult to injury they send a bunch of crap ship schematics as a blanket compensation? lol I think not.
I am sure @Shan was hoping for a quiet afternoon so that she can get a head start on her holiday Way to go DB!!!
I am going to wait a bit before sending out the ticket. I am sure CS will have no clue and initial responses will be extremely inconsistent. Give them a day to figure out and then I will send in the ticket asking for compensation. Either give us a choice of a different legendary or give us back all the dil/boosts/chrons/rep used to obtain and level her.
On the bright side, I don’t have to see the horrendous art in my active crew roster.

I am a bit upset by this as I intentionally worked to get in top 1000 because I had the belief she would be that powerful. It is in their rights to do such but at same time it is annoying.

Exploiting is using bots in events or trying to take advantage of the pack providing dil.
Exploring isn’t spending money on a copy of a card released by the developers.
