So the Picard characters added so far during the event are Soji (5*), Raffi (4*), Elnor (5*), Fenris Ranger Seven (4*), Narek (5*), Agnes (4*) and Executive Director Hugh (5*).

I'm really hoping Rios is included too!

All of these need their rarity swapped accept Soji. Judging by this Android Spot will be a Gold and Android Picard will be a lowly (*1)

    BTW I want Android Spot

Maybe Android Spot will be an avatar for 5 years. I would almost bet on that.

I think the last time that The One, Lore already gave a bonus, DB threw is a bone and gave us variants of Data. Now... Most Data variants already give a bonus as cyberneticists, so it wouldn't be a huge deal if they included the rest. I'll be fine either way, but I did want to throw the idea out there.

The only PIC character I might actually want and they bury it in a faction. This mega **tsk tsk**. The only way to place a faction is to throw money at it. BOOO!

The only comparison we can make about the PIC rollout is with Discovery. Here's how it stacks up:

    5jfyo7jzf103.jpg
Typo'd Vahar'ai Saru's name. Not going to the trouble of fixing it and taking another screenshot.

Discovery's first crew was preceded by 2* Lieutenant Commander Saru; everyone was sent a free copy. Between Saru and the mega-event was 5* First Officer Burnham in a pack. During that mega, the U.S.S. Shenzhou and U.S.S. Discovery were added. Every week the rest of the year introduced someone new.

PIC was preceded by Picard and Number One being the recurring legendary in the previous mega-event. Narek was released in the Resilient Romulans demerit packs. We've got The Artifact in week 2 now, and the week 4 Skirmish lineup hasn't been announced so there's no telling what could be in it. Given that this mega-event is in April, rather than October, I don't anticipate someone new from PIC every week the rest of this year.

Bottom line: Discovery had a better rollout, and it's arguably having a better rollout than PIC in PIC's rollout.

I like full Discovery megas, I would have liked a full Picard one. They give minor characters a purpose, which is nice.

I’m torn, myself. On one hand, I like when they focus on one show and release a lot of crew from it (the TOS mega may very well never be eclipsed as my favorite of all time, for example), and I think that PIC should have gotten such a treatment on its first time out. Between the main crew, the emergency holograms, and guest appearances by beloved former stars, there were enough characters to go around.

On the other hand, the core concept of the game is when characters from different series collide with one another. Some of the best pure instances of writing in the game so far have been when crew separated by decades and light years come together in new ways (McCoy getting friendly with the Maquis comes to mind). The idea of Raffi Musiker, expert conspiracy theorist, latching onto the erasure of Discovery from Starfleet records is also one I like, though I’m not yet sold on the execution of the idea through two weeks.

I'm pretty sure my top two favorite megas to date are Mirror and TOS. I don't have enough enthusiasm for the Q for that one to be a favorite, but it might be the best constructed so far. To be fair to this mega, there were only ever going to be nine slots for new crew, so there was no way they were all going to fit. Burnham wasn't even in that first Disco mega at all. Hell, Detmer and Owosekun didn't debut until the last eleven months.

Also, I overlooked one other thing that made the Disco rollout great. It had one full Galaxy event and two hybrids. That meant walking out of it with 4/5 T'Kuvma; 4/4 First Officer Saru, Reinforcement Stamets, Lt. Ash Tyler; and 3/4 Sarek just from thresholds. Even if you were so new that you couldn't reach the lowest 4* threshold on your own, you came away with a 1/4 Saru, Stamets, and Tyler just from the community rewards.

This mega feels built around those same Disco players rather than their PIC counterparts. Most obviously, two of the four new 5*'s are Disco crew. The only new cadet so far has been 3* Human Airiam. I'd have been excited about another Saru in just about any other event, but I can't shake this admittedly irrational resentment that that should have been some PIC 5*. (Although if I hypothesize it should have been Narek in his place, I think that resentment becomes rational. And now I feel renewed anger over Resilient Romulans. I digress.)

Moreover, the format schedule seems to say, "Get your own damn 1/4's!" Yeah, the Disco players and those of us who were here before them surely can. I just can't shake this feeling like I'm at a party with a rude host and I want to go over and apologize to new guests.

I disagree. All five of those Discovery legendaries are two-skilled and of limited use. We do not know what Hugh’s stats will be but Soji, Nhan, Saru and Narek are three-skilled. Narek is nearly impossible to get but First Officer Burnham was very difficult to get too in that ”worst chance” pack. With both Disco and Picard in this mega the legendaries were going to be split between the two and the distribution is even. I agree that a Picard stand along mega would have been preferable but this Mega has better crew.

It's probably frustrating. But there are ways to get the legendary without spending. That may not be the case if you've been playing less than 6 months. But if you've been playing longer, then I can help you with resource management to get you there, if you want. (This is also where a good fleet is super helpful.)

Started last Sept. I'm aware I'm too impatient. Skirmishes were difficult but at this point the only limiting factor is chrons. Galaxies aren't bad, but again, chron limits. Chrons can be stockpiled if you skip or skimp a few events that don't speak to you. So placing high enough to at least FF the 4* rank is doable so long as the competition for the 5* doesn't wash out the entire board. But stockpiling chrons to do well in an event is a double edged sword. It means limiting spending. Equiping cards slows. The golds pulled from the portal languish and there are to many 3/4s that were rushed to FE just for an event.

Factions are an entirely different beast. I figured out ad doubling cadets. But it takes time to rebuild a stock of shuttle rentals. Additional shuttles are not cheap and they never enjoy the 50% sale that everything else does.

I'm still well under a year so my crew infrastructure is still a challenge. At this specific point, I've managed to pick up some golds, and several 3/4s who have begun to strain my slot limit. I was really hoping for an Easter 50% sale to drop what little dilithium I have on it. I'm stockpiling time boosts and 4* skill boosts, but those numbers are still relatively small. I could maybe make a run at it, but if Hugh has a unique skill set the ranks will be washed out by the bigger players. Any run at it would reset my stockpile. We'll see how good the card is when it comes out. But at this point it is probably more wise to wait till I have a stockpile that's less of a gamble.

Fleet isn't bad. I never turn down advise. I'm just a Hugh fan and it's frustrating.

It took me a good year before I was comfortable with faction events. Now with shuttle rentals and cadet ad-double, it is a different experience. I'm not sure what to tell you, but your analysis seems spot-on.

Sorry to be that guy, but you will never catch up unless something changes. I've been playing for more than a year and my backlog only grows. There are just too many crew for people who didn't start back in 2017. There's something fundamentally broken about player progression early on these days and the devs don't really seem to care, which is why there are less and less people playing the game. It won't get better unless they add a catch up mechanic. Yes your crew will grow and you should be able to participate in factions but you will always have less crew than people who started playing early and you will always struggle against them since you won't close the gap.

I'm considering trying for Hugh. Haven't tried in almost 2 years in a faction event. Doubt it's possible for me anymore with the shuttles madness that goes on.

Well if u havn t tried since 2 years, you should easily sit on a huge amount of 3/4/5 Time reduction shuttle boosts as well as 2x VP shuttle boosts.

So i can t see, why it shouldn t t be possible for you? Of course it might take some work, like sending shuttles very 1/ 1.5hs during daytime.

yeah I have a ton of time tokens and extra shuttles. sending extra shuttles seems risky though for maybe lowering the points to 3500? The 4th shuttle is sometimes iffy - can imagine 5th and 6th would be around 60%. Not too many 2x point boosts. I guess not lucky with the daily one.

Yeah, may not be helpful to use shuttle tokens in an event unless you can get above 80%, either with skill boosts or without.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Send the early shuttles with the reducers because the earlier ones are lower difficulty. This lats.you get to 4000 faster. When your success rate indicates lower that 80% with time reducers, use skill boosts. Once you hit 4000 with a successful set of shuttles, use the time reducers again. At this point, you can usually keep enough successes to maintain the 4000.

Alternate plan: pick 2 (if necessary adjust to 1 or 3) shuttles where you have a high success probability percentage and send those off with time reducers constantly. Send the other shuttles with skill boosts and regular times. I used this strategy to win (meaning top 1500, not actually winning) my first two factions about a year after starting.

The other thing that helped me have relatively early success in faction events was deciding it was ok to waste merits by avoiding certain shuttle missions and letting them expire. Find the 4 (or more) shuttle missions that fit your crew best and keep running just those missions. More consistent success is worth wasting a few hundred extra merits, especially if that can be the difference allowing you to crack the top-1500.
