    Just sayin', not happenin' now!

I would kind of probably be sure to send them a note explaining exactly why they lost your money.

  • You know, thinking about it, their "solution" makes me WAY more angry than the original issue... Technical errors can happen, but this was 100% intentional!

its a dagger through the hearts of anyone who paid for him early.

Except the people who paid for him early, did so with the purpose of having the advantage through the mega event. Which they still got.

I understand where the frustration is coming from, but I also think the pitchfork raising of "I paid $25 to get the extra star four weeks ago and now you give it free so I want a refund" is over the top for sure.

They paid with the knowledge that he'd be a 4/5 at the end of the event anyway, as has been the practice in every other mega event DB has ever run. I immortalized him just this week, but I think people who did so at the start of the event have every right to be angry.

Yeah a useless gift thanks for nothing DB. It wouldn't be so bad if 650 honour was worth something!! Wallet is shut from now on

I agree. Those of us who spent the cash to double up early OR those who used a citation just got a double kick in the rear..... THIS was their brilliant idea?????

Actually now that you put it this way, I am quite angry about it.
I doubled up and now people just get a 5* on him for free.

    DB do better!!!

  • Some people are out $25, while others are out 50,000 Honor... How could Quality Control not see this as a problematic idea? I get the idea behind the gift, but for some, it isn’t a gift...just like Merry Worf for some. A citation would have been the way to go.

Giving out a copy of the mega event crew also flies in the face of what's been said in all three other mega events where it was stated there would absolutely be no way or chance of receiving a 5th copy of the crew for free. To change this now is bad practice and makes me unlikely to cite or DYS future mega crew until well after the event has ended.

Don't know how to deal with this level of out-of-touch-ness. Does not compute.

First confusion. Then eyes-wide fury with dawning realization.
Then shaken with laughter as it's too ridiculous to stay angry.

Myself and several others in 7TW have submitted tickets kindly asking that our citations and DYS spendings be replaced. I appreciate what DB was trying to do, but this compensation is unfair to some of the most ardent supporters of the company. Hopefully DB will do right by us. Personally, I asked for 49,450 honor, as I plan to airlock this copy of Mirror Picard since I used a citation on him way back in week 1 of this mega event.

I did the exact same thing. Meowsomed your post. :)

Pretty much this. At least Merry Worf wasn't recently a large bonus feature crew for a month. He was either new crew, a star, or 550 free honor for people. Picard on the other hand is either a star or a giant middle finger to their best players. A Behold of the mirror 5*s would have been much better, or a free honorable citation, which I imagine most free players would have used on Picard anyway, would have been more well received.

Anyway, I did try the polite ticket submission to get my citation back so we will see what happens.

  • Like many of you, I wasted 50k honor on a citation and feel like this is the worst way to handle the glitch. And I also see this as different from the Merry Wolf, who was a free gift, not compensation for a technical glitch.

Sent in a ticket, but am afraid it would be weeks before CS responds. And then it DB RNG on whether you get a reasonable person or have to go back and forth and escalate until it is resolved.

Hope DB finally does some damage control and instructs their CS to compensate players with honor or refund $25 double-ups promptly.
  • UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
  • That’s a kick in the teeth to paying customers. A Mirror 5* behold would have been ideal.
DB somehow manage to mess up an apology reward.

99% of the people that paid just wanted to have him FF. The difference in stats between 1,2,3 and even 4 stars is negligible. The big jump is really 4 to 5. Having an advantage was the last thing on my mind and I don’t believe it gave me one. That’s not why I spent 25$ at all.
  • I didn't DYS/cite Picard, so I'm one of the folks who has benefitted from this comp, and even I can see how massively unfair it is to folks who have basically *just* paid to get an added star on him - either with dollars or 50K honor - and also mismatched as comp for the outage. People didn't miss out on Picard90X, they missed out on Troi. Or because of the bad comp during the Crusher event, a Mirror Crusher.

The proper compensation that would have covered all bases should have been a behold with Crusher, Troi, and Picard.

I am personally waiting to not increase support backlog... but if they wouldn't switch Picard for citation or something in a day I would send ticket too.

I understand that a lot of you are upset about this but really after thinking about it, It really was the best option for DB. 5* citations would not have helped new players who don't have any 5* guys. Troi might have been a better choice but there would still be people upset who spent money to get her 5 starred. A special behold would have been cool but that takes time and tech people to set up (many of whom I am guessing are on holiday) So yeah, a lot of people are upset and a lot of others really happy.

And really, I wan't expecting them to give us anything more (nor did they really have to) A gift is a gift, even if you don't really like it, the nice thing to do is smile and say thank you.

So Thank you DB for the nice thought... I am grateful to have received my Mirror Picard :)
  • Yes, and the joke is on us.
  • As someone that already used up honor on a citation to immortalize Picard, I see this as a kick in the shin. Who had the bright idea to offer a reward that I imagine a good amount of the playerbase paid to finish?

You don't just give a gift without thinking about the recipient, especially when a precedent has been set. You think about what will the person I'm giving this gift to think about it? Will they like it or hate it? If the answer is 'hate it' you don't give that gift, you find something else.

Also, pretty sure this was just a New Year's gift straight up and is unrelated to the game instability from earlier today.

A gift is something you do to make someone smile and do something nice.

Compensation for screwing up the end of an event is called trying to fix the damage.

Cloaking it up as a gift and calling folks ungrateful is simply erroneous.

Folks missed out on Troi cause DB couldn't hold the servers together.
Folks didn't get Troi they got something many of them already had and of thus of lesser value to compensate for DB screwing up.

    The equation does not balance.
  • Lets Give DB a chance to realize its not productive to reload and shoot their other foot.
hard to believe someone didn't say... hmmm how are those people who spent $25 or 50K honor going to feel...

politely open a ticket asking for your money, honor, or a copy of another Crusher/Troi/Data/Reed.

perhaps they will kindly deal with each person as needed.
