While I appreciate DB's loyalty to compensating its player base in light of a technical error, I humbly request that the offered free 1-star Mirror Picard be traded in for a citation of equal worth. As a loyal customer, I had purchased the double-up offer and already had a fully-fused Mirror Picard when the compensation gift was given out today. I feel this gift serves me no purpose and unfortunately makes my patronage appear not to be valued as I spent the money to attain what others are now getting for free. Myself and many other players feel this exact same way and the only logical solution we request is the equal trade of the offered crew for a citation we can use on a crew which is not already fully-fused for us. Such an act would show continued consideration and value for your loyal customers and would be greatly appreciated so we hope that you seriously consider this request.
Many thanks and I sincerely await your reply,

Why does the whole game have to be set up to benefit brand new players and screw over folks who've been playing and spending since day one? DB is the one making things that way. They don't have to be mutually exclusive options.
5* citations don't expire. They also provide maximum flexibility. Giving everyone a 5* citation would make sense.
The way this game is set up, there is always the risk of pulling a character that you have already cited or spent money to fully fuse. The best way to mitigate this risk is by only citationing or fully fusing characters that have not yet entered the portal. Previous mega event 5* characters have not been in portal rotation, thus ensuring that they will stay 4/5 unless the players spends a citation or $25 to DYS. Therefore, citationing or spending $25 to get a star for Picard was supposed to be a no-lose proposition. What does DB go and do? Make it a 100% lose scenario for everyone that spent.
I'm glad that some folks are pleased. Hell, thanks to DB I just got my first FF legendary character on my VIP0 account, and I'm pretty excited about that. But that does not invalidate the anger of wasting $25 on a purchase on my other account.

5* citations would not have helped new players who don't have any 5* guys.
Not right away, but citations have no expiry on them, you can use them whenever you need to. Eventually those new players are going to get their hands on a 5* at which point the citation would come into its own.

Like others, I did the DYC offer on the first event, knowing that was the only way to get Picard FFE. This was a bad choice for DB, so many other ways to send out an apology offer. I'm grateful that they did something, but it's still a slap in the face to so many people. I won't send in a ticket right now, a backlog of tickets with the same complaint won't help them. Hopefully we'll hear from DB soon about this.
Sadly, only way to fix it is to need everybody to submit a ticket, for them to check the history of Picard for those that submit tickets. Then to respond to each of them individually. A database query would also allow them a way to search for those that had Picard at 5/5 before a specific date, then send out individual compensations to those people.
If it's not fixed in a more appropriate way, then like others, I won't be spending any more money on the game. I had already been contemplating that, and this would be the one that pushes that over the edge...
Yeah, I did the double the crew weeks ago and I'm left feeling taken advantage of and I hate bashing DB too, but this is simply not a fair compensation to all those who already had Mirror Picard immortalized.

Giving out a copy of the mega event crew also flies in the face of what's been said in all three other mega events where it was stated there would absolutely be no way or chance of receiving a 5th copy of the crew for free. To change this now is bad practice and makes me unlikely to cite or DYS future mega crew until well after the event has ended.
It is especially baffling given the above point. In past mega-events DB has gone out of their way to make the 'free' legendary unavailable through packs, except until the end of the event when a pack was available that had essentially all the month's event crew.
So it made sense for players to use a citation or double up (i.e. spend money) since you'd have to wait for the end of the event to even have a chance to FF the month's event crew.
Perhaps DB's intention was to give out a Mirror Picard all along, and instead of saying so, communicated poorly yet again and said the Picard was for the technical disruption when it was their plan all along as possibly evidenced by the lack of event pack being offered after the event?
I have always taken DBs mishaps with a shrug and gotten on with my things, but this is a new low that upsets even me.
A free Mirror Picard when most people already have either doubled up or burnt honor is incompetent at best, straight up taking the piss and counting on us air locking it to not upset the game balance and hoping for our cash in the next event again at worst.
honor or chron, even 250 merits would be more useful for most.
I have raised a ticket asking for a refund for the double up offer I took for mirror Picard, let’s see what they say.
It’s taken about 2 Years (I have played from first week), but finally it has happened, I will no longer spend cash on this game.
The lack of coherent thought and foresight is abysmal from DB.
I put in a polite ticket thanking DB for the compensation of a 1/5 M. Picard, but that I couldn't use it due to already being FF. I used 50k honor for a Legendary Citation and asked for 49,500 honor added back to my account and I will airlock the M. Picard for the other 500 honor.

I think the gesture was good, but not thought through very well. If they gave a Picard or Troi, many players would have them FF already. A Legendary Citation would have been a proper solution to appease everyone and they can choose who to level, rather than force a specific crew on everyone which, as this thread shows, doesn't work.
its a dagger through the hearts of anyone who paid for him early.
Except the people who paid for him early, did so with the purpose of having the advantage through the mega event. Which they still got.
I understand where the frustration is coming from, but I also think the pitchfork raising of "I paid $25 to get the extra star four weeks ago and now you give it free so I want a refund" is over the top for sure.
Then they should not have offered him at all. So those that did not are stuck with him not immortalized.

While having a extra star certainly helped, the 25+ 4 and 5* Mirror Crew members I already had played a larger role in my event placements than the Mirror Picard did. I cited him early on for the purpose of having a strong Picard, who is frequently featured in events. I was never in any danger of not placing where I wanted to, and I was never in any danger of not getting one of the free copies of him. I never would've cited him during the event if I knew they were going to give a free copy the day it ended. Anyone who spent money or citations on him has a legitimate gripe, especially since these are the players who have long supported DB.
I didn't burn through 10k chrons to end up with an airlocked Picard and a failed voyage. Until the compensation for DBs screw up fits the spend, the wallet stay closed.
@Etienne Not a citation, but 50'000 Honor ... that way, a new player could have gone for a 5* Behold (45'000 Honor) and cite a 3* crew of his choice or buy gold trainers with them or whatever.
"Everything about the Jem'Hadar is lethal!" - Eris (ST-DS9 Episode 2x26 "The Jem'Hadar")
5* citations would not have helped new players who don't have any 5* guys.
Not true. A 5* citation would not *immediately* have helped that tiny subset of players who are so new they don't even have one 5* Picard. But even for this extremely small group, that citation would have been around for when they did get their first 5*.
So yeah, a lot of people are upset and a lot of others really happy.
Which is still not a better option than a 5* citation, which would have resulted in *nobody* being upset and *everyone* being happy. Especially when the upset people are disproportionately drawn from among the people who generate the lion's share of the game's revenue.
And really, I wan't expecting them to give us anything more (nor did they really have to)
Sure. But once they made the business decision that giving out a 5* crew to make players happy was in their interest, it would have been a great idea to take 30 seconds and think about how this specific 5* would be received.
A gift is a gift, even if you don't really like it, the nice thing to do is smile and say thank you.
When dealing with family? Absolutely. But that's the wrong analogy. This is more like getting a complementary bag of nuts from a real estate agent who worked for you, after having previously told said agent on multiple occasions that you have a nut allergy. You don't say thank you for that; you go find a realtor who listens when you talk.
I'm happy for all the players who benefited from this. Sincerely, good for you! But don't begrudge me a little bitterness over what a debacle this is for me and many other players.
WHAT THE HELL. DB, you do realize that you just gave a giant middle finger to everyone who used a citation or paid $25 to get a star for that card, right? Should we file a ticket asking for our purchases to be refunded, or will you address that separately @Shan ?
I understand that a lot of you are upset about this but really after thinking about it, It really was the best option for DB. 5* citations would not have helped new players who don't have any 5* guys. Troi might have been a better choice but there would still be people upset who spent money to get her 5 starred. A special behold would have been cool but that takes time and tech people to set up (many of whom I am guessing are on holiday) So yeah, a lot of people are upset and a lot of others really happy.
And really, I wan't expecting them to give us anything more (nor did they really have to) A gift is a gift, even if you don't really like it, the nice thing to do is smile and say thank you.
So Thank you DB for the nice thought... I am grateful to have received my Mirror Picard
A gift is something you do to make someone smile and do something nice.
Compensation for screwing up the end of an event is called trying to fix the damage.
Cloaking it up as a gift and calling folks ungrateful is simply erroneous.
Folks missed out on Troi cause DB couldn't hold the servers together.
Folks didn't get Troi they got something many of them already had and of thus of lesser value to compensate for DB screwing up.
The equation does not balance.
OK. I can understand that POV and maybe a Troi would have been a better choice after all. I wasn't home towards the end of the event so very likely I am not understanding what happened. And I am sure that if I was in your shoes, I'd be upset too if I had really wanted a Troi and missed out due to a server malfunction. But that is not what I am hearing people say... people are saying they are upset because they already had their Mirror Picard FF/FE. But again, maybe I am missing something.
I am glad I got a 5* Picard, it immortalised him.
But I was seriously considering using honour or real money during the event to 5/5 him. I am glad I held off.
It would have been easy for DB to check who had paid for a picard, or used a citation on him. Give those players a 5* behold and/or citation. Those with a 4/5 picard could have just been given the fifth.
Or give everyone a 5* behold, with one of the three options a Picard.
Wow ... thanks DB ... way to make me buy a 5th legendary crew next event .... CMON ! Could we atleast get something else ? it feels just wrong to airlock him after having bought the 5th one ....

That's the slap part of it. Not only did some folks miss Troi, but they get something that isn't helpful and does not take the sting out of it. If you were in line to get Troi, more than likely you DYS to compete.
This wasn't some lil thank you gift, hey y'all are awesome players.
IT WAS COMPENSATION FOR THE SERVERS FALLING OVER. (see the lil sticky up at the top of the forums about the outage?)
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm glad to have it. Those that spent $25 and especially those who spent 50000 honor certainly have a right to be angry, but I'd be lying if I said that I, personally, was outraged. Several other people in my fleet are happy to have it, but Mirror Picard was the first ledgendary immortal at least one person had obtained prior to the free copy.
I understand that a lot of you are upset about this but really after thinking about it, It really was the best option for DB. 5* citations would not have helped new players who don't have any 5* guys. A citation would literally help EVERY Single Player. Even if you have 0 legendary characters you will eventually get one.
... With the way the mail was written (subject line and all) plus the fact there is (at least as if 30 minutes ago) no sign of a mega pack that traditionally caps off a mega event..
.. It would appear that this was planned prior to the event..
The error happened...
They thought "Two Birds ! yay !"
And it hasn't quite gone how they expected..
Which is still not a better option than a 5* citation, which would have resulted in *nobody* being upset and *everyone* being happy. Especially when the upset people are disproportionately drawn from among the people who generate the lion's share of the game's revenue.
Exactly. 5* A citation would have had the same value and utility to all players. As it is, everyone who already had 5/5 Mirror Picard effectively received 1/90th the value and utility.
We are all downstream from each other and ourselves, therefore choose to be relaxed and groovy. Consider participating in civil discourse, understanding the Tardigrade, and wandering with the Subspace Eddies.
As someone who has spent money on buying a 5th 5* Mirror Picard i have to say that it being offered in mail is just wrong. I am not threatening or anything but i have to say that i will reconsider wheather or not i will ever pay money on a megaevent crew again .... this feels just so... wrong and disappointing ... It may have had good intentions behind it but , this gesture just gave a giant finger to everyone ...
I don't consider this compensation at all. Like many, I already have Picard FF, and this is not acceptable for those of us who used honour or realy money to do so.
My event rewards remain unclaimed as does my "apology" and I'll be submitting my ticket insisting on my apology being changed to a useful Legendary citation.
DB, you should know that mistreating your paying customers is just not wise.
I don’t see DB doing anything other than asking people to put in a ticket for this now. It would be completely unfair to those of us that already had mirror picard FF by using honor or DYS offer. It’s unfortunate that there was no thought put into this at the beginning of the process. If they send something out globally now, some may be double dipping.
This also has to be a new record. First day back in the new year and already off to a messy start. Hope this isn’t what we have to look forward to for the rest of the year.
Well, as experience would prove, if we refuse to let the issue go, they'll have to address it sooner or later. #justice4geordi #where'sthe4s? #justice4DST #NOTMYPECCARD
