1 - that DB have zero quality control, which is insane; and
2 - whatever @Shan gets paid, it probably isn't enough to justify having to handle DB's rich array of screw-ups, let alone this board.
I feel really bad for everyone in the DB office right now. Where most places are letting people go early for the holiday tomorrow, it’s likely DB might actually have to work tomorrow. It’s definitely very bad timing for such an issue 🙁
Remember, when the packs were broken and then DB offered free packs based on the number of purchases made, DB knows exactly what everyone purchased and can reverse as needed.
How do you reverse a shuttle Dil boosted home? How do you reverse a SB room insta upgraded? How do you reverse 1000 crew airlocked for honor and spent on cites?
Shortening shuttle missions is minor, SB insta upgrade can be reverted by insta downgrade.
Could but again this is the company that can't get their packs for purchase right (30% fail rate) and you expect them to be able to downgrade a room without issue?
One interesting thing is I hope DB gets it’s the math right. For example if someone purchased it five times so got 5000 dilithium, let’s hope they realize they should only be removing 1750 dilithium from the account. It cost 650 dilithium to get the 1000 dilithium so the net gain of each purchase was really only 350 dilithium
No, I hope DB get this wrong. A player who gained 200,000 dil should get 600,000 taken away so they end up with -400,000.

That's the least concern i have. If someone wants to massively throw dil into starbase speedups they'll quickly have none left.
Why are we talking about banning players? The players aren't the problem here.
A player who would abuse an obvious glitch hundreds of times is most definitely a problem.
I'm sure they'd prefer to avoid banning customers, but if it were to happen those people earned it.
In theory, I'd agree. However, DB has taken a position on this very issue. During Pointgate last year, DB refused to punish identified abusers of a glitch, which DB admitted (and you know I still have the email) violated the TOS. No action was taken. As a result, how do you walk that passive position back now and hammer anyone here? DB put out a faulty product and it was consumed as it was inadvertently designed. O.k., now what? We know what happens if Costco puts out an advertisement for a $50 HDTV, when what they meant (and a reasonable person should have known) was for a $500 HDTV. Costco eats the mistake and you just tip your hat to the consumer who pounced on it.
Banning, to me, is so far out of the question that it's more crazy than the bug at issue.
I actually expected we'd hear something by now... to be a fly on the wall in that conference....
Yet another issue they’ve always had. They should have at least acknowledged the issue and let people know they’re working on a fair solution. Instead they go virtually radio silent.

I find it very hard to believe anybody would’ve been able to amass that much in such a brief time.
I don't advocate banning accounts. It's DB inept at offers at fault. Let them audit all accounts bought the packs. Roll those back & without any punitive measures let those accounts ticket on a case by case basis if it's rolled back more than it should have
There's also the question of what those accounts might have done outside of themselves, for example, starbase donations/resets.
If DB roll back accounts on a case by case basis, then that will sort out the major issue, and they can probably ignore Starbase issues.
But here are the problems I see with individual auditing from a time/quality standpoint.
1) first assumption made is they have logs for everything or can track individual issues and accounts.
Ok...great...that's probably true, but how accurate is their tech team going to be going through all of these (if you want the reason for that question, this is the team that released this pack to begin with).
But let's give the benefit of the doubt and say they are perfect in this.
2) there will always be the feeling that someone got an unfair advantage. Plenty of people don't trust "the man"; you can see that sentiment in plenty of forum posts.
If db releases a statement saying they fixed all the issues. There will be people that at least believe this has not been handled. ..
Which can all be pUT aside for problem 3.
3) I like this game, it's why I play it. I assume most of you like it too.
One of the things that makes this game, "this game" was summed up in the q&a...it's like a new star trek story every week. I don't want employee resources dumped on this for a week or more.
Let's be conservative in an estimate. Let's say this only affected 100 accounts, and only takes 10 minutes per account to fix. That's 1000 minites, or about 17 hours to fix this one thing. That's half a week (almost) for a full time employee, that I'd rather go towards fixing tickets, bugs and adding to content.
They may have to cough up the $$ to hire someone extra for this not to take away from normal cs
I actually expected we'd hear something by now... to be a fly on the wall in that conference....
Yet another issue they’ve always had. They should have at least acknowledged the issue and let people know they’re working on a fair solution. Instead they go virtually radio silent.
Well, to their credit, Shan DID acknowledge the problem, but nothing since...

Not per purchase though. If you started with 650, and bugged up to 5k, you should be reduced by 4350. From second pull forward, the 650 you are using is free, so you lose it all, no?

Yes, I don’t see that being an issue at all. I don’t know of any fleet who has a whole bunch of rooms just waiting their turn to be upgraded. It’s likely only a single room could’ve been sped up. With holo-emitters being in such short supply I just can’t see that scenario happening

Yes, that’s why I said virtually silent. By now there should have been a post and maybe in game mail from Erin acknowledging the problem.
Instead they wait until they have a “solution “ and more speculation and vitriol come out in place of any info at all.

I still maintain that the biggest negative impact on players will be this weekend's event. There will be hundreds of not thousands of extra 5/5 Queen Guinevere Kiras out there that will make fairly competing for this event impossible.

Nope, this was the weekly best chance pack not the event pack and it contained no crew (only merits and dilithium). I am sure it is an internal testing pack so that they can give themselves unlimited dilithium and merits for testing purposes.

No, it really is per purchase. Let’s say someone starts with 650 dilithium exactly.
Now let’s say they purchase it 10 times. The total amount of dilithium you would end up with after 10 purchases would be 4150. That’s because each of those 10 purchases costs 650 and each of those purchases only gains 350.
This is going out as an in-game mail and will be a stand alone post in Starfleet Communications as well.
Greetings, Captains,
Thank you for the reports regarding the issue with the Independence 650 Dilithium pack that was available at noon ET today. The pack was misconfigured and didn't provide the correct content, so it was taken down.
A small number of our players purchased this pack before it was removed; we will be working with them on an individual basis to address the issue.
The pack will once again be made available, with the correct content, when the situation has been resolved.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
I feel really bad for everyone in the DB office right now.
I don't. They were asked many times to improve their procedures. Now they simply harvest fruits of their negligence.
I have to agree. Nobody at DB is a volunteer. They are as for-profit as it gets and I, personally, have put a couple of DB children through a year or two of ivy league college. We pay good money for a product and that, of itself, entitles us to get a decent, bug free product and look for some accountability.
Remember, when the packs were broken and then DB offered free packs based on the number of purchases made, DB knows exactly what everyone purchased and can reverse as needed.

A lot of people probably wouldn't compete past threshold if they have 5/5 Queen Kira. Right now there is a lot of speculation going on and it is going to take more than a couple of hours to resolve. Eventually we will hear something on this.

I mean, if I all of a sudden had 200k extra dil, I will most definitely buy a bunch of event packs tomorrow until I get a 5/5 Kira.

You owe it to the players who are not on the forums to be honest and forthcoming about what the bug gave to people who exploited it, so they understand what DB should be accountable for fixing. I understand the inclination to do damage control, but this is epic accountability dodging.

Please tell me that's not all....that an "accept our apologies" and "take our word for it" that everything is put back as it was (which the player base has no way of ever knowing or believing) is where this gets left. Can you confirm that that's just the first step of this fix?
