I second Apollo’s comments: this is pretty much Skirmishes. Some differences: need to adjust crew each battle to get the bonus (easier done with the search option than looking thru roster), 10 battles instead of 5, higher intel to farm, but can get intel from ship and crew missions.
How do bonuses work? Is everything just the small bonus in a regular skirmish? Do that stack? Any reason not to just pick my weakest slot and swap that with the first crew that had a bonus picture covering his face?
As usual, it would be helpful to have more info on how the bonus works. What's the base number of VP per battle, how does bonus crew improve those values, do multiple bonuses stack? It's tiresome to have to figure that out by trial and error.
500 chronitons a go?? that sounds bad - but I guess like 12,000 to run the table. Not too bad. I might do eet.
Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, is all ancient history. Then, before you can blink an eye, suddenly, it threatens to start all over again."
Any reason not to just pick my weakest slot and swap that with the first crew that had a bonus picture covering his face?
That's what I've been doing. I actually like it, it lets me involve more crew and get some use out of some that don't get much action for me. Normal skirmishes I just have the same four every time.
Yup, just as I figured. In my opinion the 'intel' fee is too high. I burned off the first 5000 available in the first round. So now I am left with the option of sitting around for hours waiting on the counter or roaming the 'galaxy' burning off chronitons to make more 'intel'. For me the 'fun factor' in this is a great big -0- !
(but to be fair I am not wild about skirmishes to begin with )

Remember: it's just a game, not a matter of life and death!
Having to swap crew for certain battles is a pain, but can be done fairly quick since the battles are so easy. I think I had to swap my evasion crew (Laborer Spock) for 3 or 4 battles, but a decent option was near the top of my crew selection screen.
By my quick calculations you get a 50% bonus for having a bonus crew in each round, meaning you can get 12,750 points per 10-round skirmish. That means we need to run approximately 23-24 skirmishes at most, in order to clear thresholds.
I'll have more feedback after I play for more. But if you remember DB wants to test different balance options. The higher Intel is a good experiment given the feedback of people wanting to run fewer skirmishes by having each one cost more.
We'll see how this works in practice, but I like DB testing out the change to see the impact.
1. It would be nice to have an event where you just completed some objectives, and got a reward for doing so. I was looking forward to something different. This is more of the same - stress for a long period of time, and ultimately fail to get the best rewards because you won't spend enough money. How about developing one thing where the final ranking doesn't matter? Keep the other events, sure. But something less stressful would be nice.
2. Intel cost is WAY too high. There is almost no reason to even try on this, it costs too much. I'm not opposed to spending money, but I spend more than enough on this game. This feels like pumping for even more.
3. A game mechanic that requires you to change crew each battle in a skirmish - not a good idea. For two reasons. First - the crew-search function just isn't that good. Second - like I mentioned in Part 1, you developed another event where time is an issue. If you want to be competitive, you have to pick QUICKLY and get it done. You don't have the luxury to pick and choose crew for a battle.
4. Also - stop with the events that take up a core component of regular play! I want to use my Chrons to level crew.
I like that you guys are willing to try something new, but this new event doesn't add anything to the existing experience. I am not a fan.

I know DB's initial intention with Skirmishes was to have players match the trait with each battle, but there's a reason there was backlash against it when they tried to change it after the third Skirmish, or whenever that was.
What makes Skirmish my favorite event type is the more mindless grind than Galaxy or Expedition. Put me down for being strongly against this extra layer of tedium.
As for the increased Intel cost, you essentially need double the chrons to grind the same amount of time/VP. I think this would reduce the grind for most players, though maybe it would just raise the chron cost to rank/compete and do little for the length of grind since after battle rewards make it the most profitable event type by far.
May not change much for players going for a win - just means that the winners will enter the event with more chrons saved than before. May be part of a push to incentive purchasing chrons.
Being able to farm intel with away missions has positives and negatives. Will help players level their crew much more quickly and helps offset the fact that Skirmishes would be more expensive. I'm undecided on those aspects, but it will definitely increase the Galaxy grind by allowing easier stockpiling.
I'm assuming the thresholds rewards are incentive to get feedback and will remain the same as other event types in the future. I guess I'm thumbs down on pretty much every change. Making the event type less profitable by raising the chron cost is definitely reasonable, but I'm skeptical that it will reduce the grind so much as just make it more expensive to get the rank you want. That may trickle down by forcing players to be more picky about which events they rank in, or it may not.
Glad to see DB trying new things, but these changes in concert (90% the trait matching) would really hamper my enjoyment of my favorite event type and would definitely affect my play time.
I think the increased intel is fair, considering how much dilithium you can earn.
Much appreciated that there isn t a fleet or squad rank involved. Takes the pressure of fleet members to participate and reduces the possibility to easily
burn out by doing events 24/7.
Comments
I like that the VP goes up every battle, and they seem to get harder, but my killys etc. just wipe out the enemy ships.
No "etc" here. Killy is like "I got this." Other three are like "We wanna play!!!"
Edit: just saw the varient vp above each oponnent, not to sure about my theory anymore.
I believe it's tomorrow
Will not be able to check until tonight.
Are you saying matching both traits give the high bonus like using the specific event bonus crew in skirmish.
I edited my post, i'm not so sure about it anymore.
So i've done 1 run, spend about 250 chronitons with a chron boost on.
Still not enough intel for a next run...
Thanks do not worry. Some one else will post info. Otherwise, I will tonight.
Thanks though, it does need checking into.
Mine shows the 10000 for rank 7 and 7500 for rank 8. I am guessing you are seeing 750.
Thanks Shan.

Never mind. Forgot to Epic it!!!!!!

Is that with the kit? So 25% more without.

Thank you for the prompt reply!
