Forums are hijacked by people like you - you don't build them up or make them enjoyable - you drag everyone down to your level. Congrats on that.

I don’t think people are tone deaf to the points you are making.
But that being said, video games serve as an escape from reality for most people, and the forums where a fraction of a games players congregate to talk about the finer points of a game are kind of like another dimension.
I can see why you might reference the current state of the world and suggest that the trivial matters that forum members have been discussing are irrelevant, but if we follow that train of thought to its logical conclusion, there would be no need for these forums at all.
Like i said, i dont think people are tone deaf to the points you are making. They just choose not to address those points while they are indulging in a reality escape. Something that i believe has helped keep me sane in the past year.
So, that being said, how about we just close the cover on this adiragate thing? We have a resolution that seems to address the majority of concerns and convergence day is upon us.

LOL, nice personal attack. Clearly you weren't even paying attention to the thread because I wasn't one of those people complaining. I didn't even go for the card. I was just giving a gentle pushback to your heavy handed sanctimoniousness. It must be wonderful being so morally superior to the rest of us. You seriously need to get off that soapbox and get over yourself. Or just wallow in despair at all of the ills of the world, whatever.
As one of the posters concerned about the change of the terms of a "business transaction" just before that transaction was to be completed, I'll add my thoughts.
I am content with the resolution that has happened. Those of us who ranked will get the item we made efforts for, if a little late (I think of it as back ordered). For what might be considered a "breach of contract", those who "won" the card got double the value ( EDF & Tal). For those who made an effort but came up short because of the extra competitiveness, they also have a chance to get the original card in the future.
I am content enough with this resolution that I have renewed my monthly card that just came due.

There is a lot of rudeness to unpack here, but the best response to this is to just walk it over to the nearest burning dumpster and toss it in.
And for the record, in my estimation if more people around here strived to meet the standard of @Mirror Sanoa, this forum would be a much better place.

I recommend more people do as I did and just ignore Darth Jif, it makes the forum a much more pleasant place.
I definitely consider DS's response harsh and I literally once tried to kill a guy with a shovel.
Yes, terrible things happen all over the world constantly, but you still need to hold people accountable for their actions, accidental and otherwise.
I had 150lbs of chicken feed go missing off our truck after it was towed after an accident. I'm holding the company and the sheriff's department that contracts with the yokels responsible. Complaints are being filed tomorrow.

Not one of mine. I dole out about 25-40 lbs a day, depending on which feeders need filled or topped up on a given day. That's regular layer, not counting chick starter, game bird, and cat food.
We replaced the missing feed, but I found my bag of dog food out in the middle of the cornfield we rolled over in. The rest of it was not there and not in the truck.

She'll come out of the portal eventually or I will have enough honor and want/need her enough to finish her at some point. I'm A completist and a masochist.
Just remember, people went on airlocking sprees and then collections and milestones got added. I wouldn't be surprised if most crew make a collection eventually.

I’m not sure I follow here. Homesteader Janeway and Towel Adira are being compared to Bones, given the circumstances of how all three of them were introduced. Adira is a special case given the additional reward for those who ranked in their event, of course, but the point stands: a $10 LTO is better for the players than having to spend anywhere from $10 to $500+ on dilithium to fund pack purchases or 100,000 honor.
I guess the point is that expressing disappointment over a free gift comes across as rather ungrateful.
And that seems to miss the point that it’s not a free gift if you have to spend dozens or hundreds of dollars to make use of it.
No, you don’t have to spend anything on it to make use of it: You can leave the card at 3/5 or you can airlock all 3 copies and use the 1500 honor. Whether one uses the card or not does not change the fact that it is a free gift.
There certainly are players who will be able to make use of a 3/5* crew. They’ll be ecstatic to have the help, and rightly so. For everyone else, that’s a lost crew slot, lost honor/dil/cash, or a pittance in honor from airlocking.
Let’s frame this discussion another way: if I had 1500 pounds of potatoes delivered to your house and dumped in your front yard, paid in full (including shipping), how happy would you be? Potatoes are pretty robust and you certainly could leave them be for a while, but at some point it’s going to be a burden. By your logic, you should never be allowed to be disappointed by such a gift, because you could use them or sell them to others (most likely at a discount compared to store prices) regardless of how burdensome it is to do so.
Am I demanding we return to the Bones-style setup? No, as I recognize that a single-skill crew like Bones is limited to basically one purpose and therefore carries less value than a solid voyager like Homesteader Janeway. If Towel Adira is designed like Janeway in terms of skills and traits, I would think offering a fourth star through temporary achievements and then letting people roll the dice on a special pack, one of those 1500-dil beholds, or just taking a $25 DYC could be a quite fair value.
So to be clear, we aren't looking the gift horse in the mouth, but rather trying to punch it until it bleeds.
TP has already gone above and beyond with this generous remedy, and while I don't think it was expected to make everyone happy, to pretend that they went halfway is beyond entitled. No one is obligated to do the temporary achievements, and even if they do complete them, one can just trade the prizes in for the pittance of 1650 honor if having Towel Adira take up space at 3/5 is too much for then.
Let’s be clear about something: I have absolutely no problem with the remedy portion of the deal. Awarding the same number of Towel Adiras that would have come from EDF Adira’s reward event is perhaps one of the very best “we messed up and want to make it up to the players” responses in the history of the game, if not the best. Imagine how differently Bevgate/Picardgate would have gone if that had been handled like this...and that was a crippling bug, not an art mistake. It also reaffirms the stout commitment to releasing pleasing character art, which has otherwise been evident on a weekly basis anyway.
No, the issue is the same one that was raised back when Homesteader Janeway was released: awarding only three from temporary achievements rather than four is specifically done to drive excessive spending. Bones was released with a $10 LTO. Mega event recurring legendaries draw DYCs and recap purchases for those who don’t save up honor or 5* citations. Homesteader Janeway and now Towel Adira (top 1500 players aside) cannot be immortalized, and thus made useful for many players, without being forced into spending dilithium on a low drop rate portal pack. “But what about saved up honor or citations?” The pack for Homesteader Janeway wouldn’t have been there if players were expected to only finish her with citations.
I guess that this solution was implemented mainly for those who competed for Adira in the original event, with the addition of something for everyone else, to regain the trust of the players.
If the achievement gave out 4 free copies of the card, then everyone who already ranked for more than one would probably feel cheated again. And those are the people who were affected the most by the mistake, since they used up a lot of resources to get multiple copies of a crew that was subsequently changed.
Yup. Someone who ranked for three copies told me that they were a bit disappointed they'll end up with a 6/5 and will airlock a copy.
Just my 2c, but griping about only 3 copies (+1 or more for ranking) of a gold for free not being enough is so unbecoming. Everybody who competed for Adira's towel art will be getting more copies than they otherwise would have. Everybody who competed for Adira's card power gets to keep what they earned and get 4 (or more) copies of another legendary for essentially free.
Where are the cash grab complaints for only getting four copies of the mega recurring? Should they reduce them from four copies to one in the future so that everybody is happy? smh...

Anyone who ranked for the card will be getting four copies. There's a $25 DYC for anyone who doesn't want to use 50k (40k) honor or just keep Adira at 4/5. Not sure where the $500 figure is coming from.
Homesteader Janeway was released for sale in a Tuesday-style pack, which carries incredibly low drop rates in the 650-dil version and merely a sadly low drop rate in a 6500-dil version. Some people certainly get lucky on these packs and land the crew they want without having to back up the Brinks truck to the dilithium store. That’s how I got Talas, for example, from sheer dumb luck on my first and only planned pull. Most people have to dump rather large quantities of dil (10,000, 20,000, or more) to still maybe not get any featured legendary from those packs...that’s how I didn’t get Gary Seven when he was first released. Unless you’re a scrupulous saver and deal hunter (such as those $50/9000 dil offers we’ve had recently or that awesome leap day offer from early in the year), having to drop 25-30k dilithium on a Tuesday-style pack is going to cost $300-400 at best.
I don't see how anything less than a free, fully fused gold is a burden, unless the player is only keeping crew whose event they placed #1 in.
As many people as have complained about being strapped for crew slots, I find it simply impossible to not understand how a useless, partially-fused crew doesn’t constitute a burden.
The cheapest way to finish Janeway would have been to DYC her twice, equalling to 50 $ afaik (I have never seen the second offer as I never buy the first).
Yes, 50 $ are not 300, but it is still too much imho.
The cheapest way to finish Janeway would have been 2 citations. 2 normal campaigns has that at $20. The last campaign would have meant $10. And honor saved from other purposes means 80k-100k honor and $0 in cost.
Not sure if you expect a rock now?
/edit: I assumed that @Dirk Gunderson was referring to the price without ingame opportunity costs. None of your suggestions qualifies for that.
Janeway is not worth two citations, regardless their origin. Just like she is unworthy of 50 $.
My Immo Janeway is working every day.

Everyone, please try not to make extra work for Shan. We can disagree. But, please disagree politely. Several comments in the quoted post probably exceed the limits WRG/TP set for their house. Their house, their rules......
Three pinned topics in this forum and people still can't behave.
Personally, I responded to @Dirk Gunderson and @Mirror Sanoa because they're players who enrich and contribute to the community. I disagree with their tack in this case, but I wanna hear them out, because I respect their opinions.
Engage the people who you actually want to hear talk, ignore the trolls and the rude.
The resolution is very acceptable and all we asked for from the beginning. Thank you for finally coming to a decision that is fair to everyone. 👏🏻Human error is inevitable and an accepted fact of life. We ( the community) would respectfully request that next time human error is made, that our requests for resolution get attention sooner, before people become angry and we have to send droves of tickets in order to get attention. Some became so angry they quit the game. We dont want anyone to quit. For many of us this is a sanctuary to get away from life and in the spirit of trek make new friends from different places. 🖖🏻
Right on. Losing friends or even a handful of players we might never interact with to avoidable missteps is the biggest cost.

I second this message. I similarly lost someone suddenly who was my age on the 26th. His passing has had a severe impact on not just his wife and sons, as well as friends and other family, but an entire industry worldwide. While watching a tribute done for him tonight, it really hit home how silly and inconsequential all of this nonsense really is.
When our time comes, none of this will matter at all. Hold your loved ones close, and please, I'm begging you, don't lose sight of what is truly important. In his memory I will try to honour his legacy and live my life as he did, and still would, if he wasn't taken from us far too soon.
Rest in peace, Jon. May we all be half the man you were.
Ok so we are down to the REAL problems? What can I contribute? I lost my job due to the covid crisis and am unempoyed starting tomorrow. Our heating and warm water broke down the day before yesterday and it is getting colder and colder in the house. We have no warm water at all any more, and a plumber will be available on the 4th of January only. Some days my back hurts that much that it is an endeavor to even get out of the bed. And I won't be talking about the real family problem as this is too personal.
Anyway... Do we all have real world problems? Sure! Is this a place to discuss them in all their brightness? I doubt it.
Just because the things we discuss here are superficial and unimportant that does not mean that we are free from real problems ourselves or unaware of the even bigger problems others have (e.g. refugees in Greece) but only that this is not the place for them to be addressed.
So, if we should not raise our GAME concerns in a GAME forum, what else is it for then? Just to celebrate the generosity and the splendidness of the GAME? Sounds 100% boring and not authentic to me.
And if the game was all bad we would not discuss the small things that bother us and just abandon it instead. Therefore we discuss minor problems and call them "xxx gate".
STT is a micro cosmos and it is futile to compare it in any way to the real world outside.

While I was reading your post, a chicken starved to death...
We replaced the missing feed, but I found my bag of dog food out in the middle of the cornfield we rolled over in. The rest of it was not there and not in the truck.
Just remember, people went on airlocking sprees and then collections and milestones got added. I wouldn't be surprised if most crew make a collection eventually.
It's ok, just go to your happy place!
My Immo Janeway is working every day.
YMMV.....
Found out early this morning, someone I grew up with who was two months younger than me, passed. The point about perspective is very valid. Did the art change upset people? Yes. Are there deeper, more upsetting things going on? Yes.
Also, cherish your people. Make sure they know they are important and loved and special. There may not always be another chance to let them know.

Everyone, please try not to make extra work for Shan. We can disagree. But, please disagree politely. Several comments in the quoted post probably exceed the limits WRG/TP set for their house. Their house, their rules......

I did not mean to say that she is useless even FF. Pretty sure she would get some work done. I just have better 3/5s hanging besides her that do not get a citation either as it would double shift the problem towards the unfinished 4/5s (campaigns, megas and the occasional cases when a random 4th star drops).
Let’s all allow others to enjoy their discussions of the game, positives and negatives. Give everyone room to express their views and try not be dismissive - Some people may be using the game, the community and the forums as a form of escapism and don’t need to be told their views are unimportant or otherwise accused of being a troll.
Have a good start to 2021 everyone and stay safe!
Excellent advice, my friend. And not just here on the forum, either - that’s a powerful life lesson that can be easily forgotten.
A reminder that it does help if you do not quote a problematic post, and/or engage with it.
