It's so awesome that the game rewards end game players who have the ability to hoard currency. @Shan
Thanks! 😒
Some of those „end game“ players, might be part of the reason, why this game even made it to 5 years, because of their money spending since the game start,
back in January 2016?
So, 10,245,000 credits? Did I add that correctly?
Well... I can buy it out once... and be left with nothing. And credits may be useful next month...
I got really excited when I saw 2,500,000 for final spin, stupidly thinking that was the total.
It's a dabo sale like no other, that part is accurate. But not something I can really take advantage of unfortunately.
Its just incredibly remarkable to me that this is considered a “sale”.
Same loot table. Just using credits instead of dilithium? For real? And requiring 10million credits to clear the wheel and get the gold?
Im sorry how is this a sale? For those that dont have credits saved up, 1 million credits costs ~1000 dilithium (at vip 14).....
So, for real? This is part three of the 5 year anniversary?
I agree that this doesn't really feel like a sale for a great many players. I have played for years and typically keep my reserves of credits around 10mill, spending anything above that on 90k credit pulls to get the honor. I have always considered 10mill a ridiculous amount to hold onto, but felt like this was such a huge buffer for being able to replicate as much as i wanted. I would imagine that the number of players who have more than that stockpiled is a fraction of the player base, and even then, only people who have been around a long time. This sale does very little for the casual or newer player. All the people who jumped onto the game because of the 5th anniversary advertising (which I have seen everywhere) won't be able to take advantage of this.
I hate to complain more because I feel like this does live up to the description given, but it alienates a large number of people. I think if it ended up costing 2,500,000 to buy out the wheel all together for a day, then it would be really fun.
Many people don't have large stockpiles of Credits because literally almost everything costs Credits, on top of everything else it consumes. Building Eqipment, Replicating, et cetera.......
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
I love this idea, but I can’t help but think giving us a bit of notice would have been great as we could have spent a week spending chrons to save up for it and getting excited about it.
This has been repeatedly requested, but so far we have to settle for the trickle of information we currently receive, and are told to be happy about it.
Their message concerning the Convergence Day debacle stated that they "could" do better, not "should".
The point was they don't want players expecting the same sale at the same time, so they only spend during that sale. So now they release a different sale using a different resource, and now you can't plan/hoard for the future because you don't know what will be the sale next time. That's exactly what Ben meant when he explained why there so no honor sale.
I understand what their intention was, but that doesn’t change the fact that people who hoard are still being rewarded for it.
Yup. Its another clear indication that wrg/tp has no idea what it wants to do with this game, and no idea on how to get there.
Still eagerly awaiting the big “feature”, but if the past few weeks are any indication......im not overly optimistic about it.
We will be getting a peek at the new feature tomorrow, so let’s not complain about it until then.
I am glad we have this coming tomorrow. Tomorrow was going to be such a dull day without this. NOTHING else is happening in the world tomorrow...
No, the peak at the new feature is not until next month.
And yes, of course there are other things going on in the world.
Is the peak on FEB 20? I thought it was JAN 20... my bad.
As far as my comment about nothing going on, I was being facetious. Tomorrow is a HUGE news day (at least in the US).

Thats the part that is really hysterical.
I remember the first honor sale I saw, i was a newer player and “hoarding” honor beyond 200k was simply a foolish move to make. But, then the sale happened and i had that sick feeling about “what could have been”. So, i started hoarding honor and was rewarded last august.
This dabo sale will incite the exact same feedback loop into the community with regard to credits. Those who hoarded are rewarded.
The irony, is that if wrg/tp truly does not want people to hoard resources, they have effectively demonstrated precisely how to ensure that people are exponentially more likely to hoard credits.
And the feedback loop that follows, is that people may end up hoarding all resources out of fear of missing one of these “sales”.
Tin foil hat theory: the new feature will be a massive drain on credits, and this is simply an attempt to eliminate the massive hoards of federation credits before the feature goes live. Why? Because wrg/tp.

This is my fear. It would be a very underhanded thing to do on their part, and may cause more than a few rage quits, but I am not 100% confidant that this is not the plan.

I'm VIP level 12 so I have spent plenty of my own money. This game made it to 5 years because it is a Star Trek game, and the fans have supported it, no other reason than that. The developer needs to address many glaring issues with communication of sales. Everyone should be rewarded, not just hoarders. 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
For myself I just realized that one can be pleasantly surprised by the gesture and disappointed by the execution at the same time.
I kind of like the idea but... Ben told us to save portal pulls (Like what? 3 days ahaid? Haha! But it did not have such a huge impact, so whatever.) but he "forgot" to mention the same advice for credits. Wow.
The tin foil hat theory sounds quite feasible too, given the recent adjustment in the dil-credit-conversion ratio.

I have a pile of credits accrued, and while spending a chunk of it to get Captain Garret didn't make strategic sense, I'm delighted to have finally gotten the character. I love the episode, but I already have several great CMD/SCI crew, so given her rusty stats I never wanted to spent dil on packs that featured her, or the $10 offer from months ago. But this was well worth it.
I'll be choosier for the rest of this event, here's hoping I get someone else on my wishlist.
Admiral Patrick, one day you will be mine.

I mean once you reach the endgame there isn't much you can spend your resources on. You're full with credits, chrons, replicator rations and galaxy items that you can get to top 1500 every time you want. I see this sale rewarding the people who've stuck around with the game for a long time. I don't get the people who throw their credits at the 90k packs - they're awful. So on behalf of long term players - thank you.
I feel like the numbers were arrived at using Convergence Day math. Had they shaved a zero off the end of each price, I would be really excited about this sale.

Once you reach endgame, it kind of defeats the purpose right? The paradox of rewarding players who already have almost every crew...
Why not reward everyone and not just the hardcore day 1 players? Doesn't seem like a great way to keep new players.

Well, I had a go to see what it would be like, and got AoS Picard with two spins remaining, so I guess I did OK?
Based on the maths @KPan [ISA] posted upthread, I'll need another 134,676 credits to have another turn. I've never counted credits when I earn them so I have no idea if I can save that much again*? If Janeway ends up on a board and I can't go again I will be very annoyed (at myself).

Since both purples are useful and I want my gold (Chef Riker), I guess I'm spending!
Both purples are always useful if you have at least two non-FF purples.
Not necessarily. Depending on timing the second purple can be one that you've dismissed but is still available for reenlistment. So don't collect your voyage rewards in the 4 hours before dabo reset, I guess?
And on a personal note, I'm enjoying this sale. I had 96M credits saved up (fewer now, obviously) and that's just from the last 6 months or so. I spent up in the last honor sale, buying basic rewards for honor.
I know that's not the case for everyone, and I wish TP/WRG had come up with something more universally useful (and also that they'd communicated it better, or at all). But people have been saying that the other recent changes are aimed at newer players with no benefit for veterans. Well, this one's for the vets I suppose.

I have quite some purples not FF, still only one was useful today. The other was FF and no copy dismissed.

I haven't noticed that happen before, but I don't normally pay much attention to the top row since I'm not normally going to get anything from it. Worth keeping an eye out for.

On top of it the gold was 6th star too. Needless to say that there are countless unfused golds in my roster.

This isn't a sale so much as a currency swap. Prices are relatively the same its just eliminating delirium for credits. Which is a nice change (although I'll +1 the "dont hoard" followed by, if you didn't hoard this sale is on no benefit to you). Versus the Dabo sale where spins cost less than they normally would.
As always, if thats the intention, fine - I'm cool with the variety and honestly it would be neat if Dabo, to refresh the concept, changed currencies on a semi regular basis. I just dont call it a sale and its not consistent to when TP has used the word "sale" in relation to Dabo in the past.
But I'm also surprised there aren't several "as a special thanks for playing" packs that are monetizing the sale of credits that dropped as well. Seems par for the course to offer a "gift" in one hand while accepting cash in the other.

I knew I didn't have enough credits to clear, but I thought, maybe, just maybe, I'd get lucky. Swing and a miss!
But they don’t want you to hoard. Don’t you get it?
Fortunately 218 million credits left. It has to be better luck tomorrow, right"
