And seriously, it's been over a year since Aviator Yar and Tuskegee Mayweather debuted. Clearly, new Timelines original personae are going to continue to be made. How hard is it to grasp that licensees have to work with CBS, not some fan committee of self-appointed guardians of Star Trek purity? For that matter, why is it so hard for fans of a franchise built on diversity and trying new things and being tolerant to respect diversity, try new things, and be tolerant?
I don't understand why people don't get this. By definition, DB is incapable of creating 'fake' charaters. They are officially licensed by CBS to make Star Trek products, every character they make is signed off on by CBS. Everything they do is 'real' Star Trek, though not having bearing on the main canon. You might not like it, you might think the characters they came up with **tsk tsk**, but they are still an official Trek product.
I would also like to remind everyone that "Spock's Brain" and other episodes of similar quality are part of the oh-so-sacred Star Trek canon.

Extended universe is non canon but not fake. Mirror Picard is non canon, not fake. If I can use Star Wars as an example, theres quite a large extended universe there but its non canon. It it all fake? I mean I know Star Wars is fake being a work of fiction and all but you know what I mean.
Now, if we could put all this righteous indignation aside for a moment: If you dont like something just sit it out! I've sat out several events because they dont interest me. Its easy to sit something out, the events are optional after all. I'm not about to come on here bleating about how I dont like X therefore X is wrong and shouldn't be part of the game. Just let it go, some people wont like a character, others will...even if we all know its just going to be another reskin of a Com/Sec character that we've all got dozens of by now anyway.
And remember, before we start snarling at each other over a silly game and what should and shouldn't be allowed in it: I'm currently flying around in the ISS Enterprise commanded by Wrathful Khan, Tilly, Kahless the Unforgettable and Sulan. Extended universe stuff is wrong but being able to do this is just fine? That doesn't raise any eyebrows? I know for a fact I'm not alone in having weird and wonderful crew combinations.
If you're really hardcore into the lore of the series I would have thought many (most?) of the playerbase having crew slots filled with completely nonsensical combinations might be more of a concern than DB adding existing in the universe (but non canon) characters.

The only subtlety i’d put is that Mirror Picard isn’t “fake” because he’s alluded to. It stands to reason there must be a mirror picard somewhere - as there is for every other character. Then whether DB choose to use someone’s fan fiction or create their own doesn’t bother me.
Characters like “Augment Picard/Riker” etc are more of a problem because they directly contradict cannon, though technically possible (there was that episode of TNG where all the versions of enterprise converged. One of those could have been crewed by augments?).
DB only have a problem if they directly contradict cannon, and in a universe where the rules of temporal causality, dimensions, etc. are pretty fluid and undefined that’s a pretty hard thing to do without some get-out clause. Captain Reg. Barkley? Yep that definitely happened in an alternative reality...
First I came in posting thrilled and positive about this, but now read about the final 2 events. Most seem not to want 5-day events, especially full galaxy. 4 days are already much, DB. People will still buy your packs if events are 2 or 3 days long, and won't burn themselves out so quickly.
Please for the love of Trek if you insist on out-of-touch event extensions, at least make them hybrid with faction + expedition or galaxy so it's not 5 days of the same grind.
Excited for the Mirror Universe mega event! Hoping to collect many canon mirror crew and level up the ones I have!
Less than excited about yet another mega event recurring crew I'll just throw in the trash. (So far I've only collected the Borg Queen. Seen every episode of every Trek and I still couldn't tell you who Kortar is off the top of my head.) My hope for the next mega event is a recurring crew worthy of the hunt. Someone major in, important to, and actually on the show would be my preference. T'Kuvma may be important in the universe of Star Trek, but he sure isn't important to the show itself. That's kind of the distinction I mean between crew that I'll throw in the trash and crew I'll personally be eager to collect, given slot limitations.

I'm not a canon fetishist myself, especially since I love the Kelvin timeline...but! I do have a problem when non-canon characters get introduced, while characters that are real-make-believe and which we love, are forgotten.

There is no interpretation going on. The game is called Star Trek Timelines. I play to collect and enjoy my favourite characters from the Star Trek shows that I have watched for my entire life.
I don't care about DB's stories and I don't want any of these characters that have nothing to do with Star Trek.
If you like fake characters then so be it, but things that reduce enjoyment of the game for the majority of players are going to garner a lot of complaints. Deal with it.

Precisely - just do your 130k VP and you've gotten yourself a lot of stuff for minimal effort and chroniton expenditure. It nets you loot and you still get to play and immortalize crew as the event progresses - not to mention that you can run your voyages at full potential. On a Faction event, you want your shuttle % as high up as is gets, so you usually field your B team for voyages. The RNG is another matter...
On the other side, I can understand people who play competitively - I know I am not one of them (albeit I do have certain standards in terms of placement), but I get you.

I'm not going too get into this again too deeply, but I am sure I am not the only one who is VERY negatively impacted by the loss of SEVERAL days of access over Christmas weekend. Near Year's not so bad, but definitely Christmas.
People who do not wanna do an Event for the extra day, are NOT being "forced" to do it. Just quit on Monday, like it is the end.
I appreciate DB thinking of those of us with limited internet access, especially when that access is impacted MAJORLY by a major Holiday.

I dont understand why it all has to be one way or the other with some in the forum. DB has, on occasion, taken extra license and used characters not found in the original franchise. This constitutes less that 5-10% of all characters.
Why is such a small fraction of the character pool so offensive that he'll gets raised every single time?
I don't like every character that gets created, but I don't feel the need to post a diatribe about it each time.
Not person will be happy with all characters. DB can't please everyone all the time, so they mix it up to try to make everyone happy some (most?) of the time.
The difference here is everyone is going to get the non-canon character at 4/5. That alone means he's going to be one of many people's most powerful crew members, someone that, to remain competitive (especially in Picard events, of which there are many), it would be pretty silly to throw away. As such, he's going to be stuck, continuously visible, near the top of many people's rosters.
Had this Picard been just a reward for this particular event (like Assimilated LaForge whom I instantly airlocked), I would be more inclined to agree with you (and the 4/5 could be someone like Mirror Cochrane who has been suggested; a widely recognisable character who could have the much-more-useful ENG)

This is a *very* cool version of Picard, and I'd argue that there's absolutely nothing wrong with drawing from the extended universe from time to time.
Beyond that, it's a free 4/5 (and easy to make 5/5) legendary *Picard*. He's among the main-est of main characters in Star Trek. Unlike all three of the previous mega event legendary giveaways, this is a card that should provide tons of future benefit as other Picard versions will surely be featured in any number of events going forward.

I'm not a huge fan of Mirror Geordie but there are some decent character designs in the Mirror Broken series.
I quite like Mirror Geordi, he's got a stand-out look about him. Kind of Sisko-esque with a bit of Blade thrown in. Apt given that Wesley Snipes was on the shortlist to play Geordi back in '87.

I understand why some players might not like non-canon, but look at the alternatives. I mean the other three mega events had borg queen, Kortar and T'Kuvma? I'll take any version of Picard over those terrible characters. And it is kind of cool to dip into the expanded universe from time to time.

Seems likely. Anyway in the meantime I'd bet on yes to All Mirror, and no to All Picard. Otherwise since Mirror Picard will be in every week's event, it'd follow that every week Picard gets bonuses. At that point this would be no more a "mirror" mega event than a "Picard" mega event, and I doubt that's what they have in mind.
Something interesting to note.... most of the characters we've gotten in the last couple events and in this event are ones folks have been requesting for a while. Even Augment Picard. I remember posts with folks asking for him going back to the old forums.
This mega event, as well as the currently running event seem to be DB actually trying to give folks what they asked for.
I've noticed the same. I'm certain the most requested event of all time, Combs event, is next!

Yes she was. Ezri wasn't, but Mirror Jadzia was clearly referred to as "Dax".
Personally, I hope at least some non-mirror (and canon) characters will be included in these events to maintain some interest.
