I'm going to resurrect the DB:DB (DB: Do Better) tags for this event. I'd encourage everyone who is upset to do the same. I won't ask you to not spend. That's a personal call. But if you want change, the only surefire way to be heard is to disrupt the beam's revenue stream.
The irony is, that if they gave me troi I would have sent another 25$ DBs way, clear they have no frikin clew how to keep their customers on side
Essentially, I paid $24.99 for 550 Honor = Simply, you are not doing us right.
And how much did we spend for 50,000 honor?? Hmmm
Trista
Depending on the RNG with pulls, I would say several hundreds of dollars, if not one thousand or more. Twenty-six 10x packs to try to pull one Katrine with some crew I needed to add stars to or did not have netted me just over 20k Honor when that pack was live. It was a little more than that when I airlocked everything I did not want last week between the $99.99 daily offer and the $99.99 event pack offer for two Trois and everything it came with.
There are three ways to do something; the right way, the wrong way, and the Janeway.
I'm willing to let Mirror Picard stay in my inbox till the day the servers are switched off as a constant reminder when I get tempted to DYS a mega event character in future
DB must NOT send another freebies to address this mirror picard blunder. It is not fair that some people get mirror picard (50k honor point value) vs I got mirror picard for (500 honor point value)
DB should offer only replacing the picard with legendary citation or Troi or 50k honor points.
The fact that DB can't wrap their minds around this issue in a logical manor just amazes me. Logic dictates that the group of people most negatively impacted by your decision are those who paid $24.99 for DYS, and the second most negatively impacted group of people are the people who spent honor, whom btw, got that honor because they either buy event packages and have to dismiss extra crew or are F2P or monthly card purchasers who saved up for months of dismissing crew they got by other means. So the top two groups of people that have an issue with your decision are the very people that make your jobs possible. We are the folks who support the game through paying our hard earned money. We are the people that will make it right in our minds by not spending money in the future. If we don't support the game then the game goes away as you won't spend the money for the resources to keep the game going without money coming in.
I'm more concerned over the continual problems at DB. The botched start to the Mega Event a few weeks ago, the botched ending time, giving out 6 tickets to everyone as compensation which changed the event requiring all of us to spend more time to catch up over a holiday week, and the ending of this event, to lastly about the compensation for this event. I think I just want to be done with all the incompetence at DB. If not for the love of the Star Trek Universe and the fact that I have so much money invested I would delete this game. I actually found myself looking up who owned the Star Trek Franchise to write to them and make them aware of what is going on in the name of Star Trek.
If they would have done this at the beginning of the event, very few people would have cared. If they would have given a legendary citation, DB would be considered generous. This is a huge mistake and unfair to long term players like myself that paid 50,000 honor to complete Picard as a 5/5. Here is my 2 cents:
1.) Honor is not cheap! On a good day I'll complete:
- Personal daily = 200
- Fleet Daily = 570
- Successful voyage = 600 (varies widely but this is a fair average of good and bad days)
- 90K daily credit purchase = 75 (average)
- Event extras = 65 (daily average based on 4 events per month and airlocking all 2 and 3-stars and some repeat 4-stars)
- Misc = 50 (deleting every single 3 and 4-star from daily "awards", free 10-pack pull from galaxy, varies widely but averaged over daily over 1 month)
This totals 1560 honor per day. That means every 32 days, if I play perfectly, compete and rank < 1000 in all events, and all my rewards are airlock trash, I get 1 star for a 5-star card (or 128 days to FF a 5-star). Keep in mind, I'm VP 12 with over 1 year of play so I have invested hundreds of dollars and time to be able to score that high in voyages and events! The majority of players cannot score as high as I do and will take a year or more to get a 5-star complete with honor alone!!!!
2.) I have to compete with everyone you just gave a FF 5-star card to. To get a 5-star, you have to place top 1000 in the world. You just devalued my time and money invested for all future events, especially Picard events. I just lost 50,000 honor (at least 32 days of my time). I would not have purchased had I known. Now guys that did not pay are rewarded and I'm punished with tougher competition and less resources to compete with compared to those that did nothing and kept honor.
Here is what you can do to make things right. Write a script to provide everyone that paid 50K honor for Picard to be either reimbursed or given a legendary citation. Selling my Picard for 550 honor is such a slap in face when I paid 50,000 for it a couple weeks ago. Especially since majority of players kept their 50K and get a free devalued card.
p.s. Honor from purchases not included here but I am (considering stopping based on results here) a monthly card owner and bought during events in past, this adds to average daily honor total and brings to about 30 day for 50K honor. In other words, honor costs money for most players.
I am adding my voice here. I too spent $25 on the promise that I could not get the fifth * on Picard like every other mega event threshold card. This definitely is false advertising and will be waiting 24 hours to see what DB does to fix this enormous blunder before reporting to Play Store. It is clear by others posts that CS is not doing anything so I won't bother wasting their time. Just go straight to Google.
I understand that the compensation received for today's outage is not satisfactory for everyone, and I am forwarding your feedback to the team.
We need better solutions for compensation, and working on that is one of our goals for 2018.

Citations.
That's what better compensation looks like. Why? Because a citation is worth the exact same as giving a 5* away for free, and unlike a 5* character, a citation allows us to use it on whichever crew member we see fit. Plus, there is no expiration on a citation. Therefore, a citation as compensation gives your beloved customers a full range of freedom for how they want to use their compensation. When the customer is given the freedom to choose how the product makes them happy, then you as a company benefit many fold not only in consumer trust but also in customer satisfaction and noteworthy hospitality!
We are literally telling you the simple answer, and no offence, it seems like someone somewhere is completely illiterate to our suggestions and requests here. Communication is the biggest step and it's just not happening the way it needs to, hence the vocal dissatisfaction from blunders like today.

If DB just kept it simple like some honor, dilithium or even an event or premium pack things would've been easier for everyone. Some people might feel they would've deserved more but a sufficiently sized cookie cuts down on the grumbling.
To be fair to the player base they probably should give everyone who already had a 5/5 Picard appropriate compensation since they already expended real money or honour. And to figure that out, that takes actual work away from doing other things which creates additional problems later.
For most people including myself receiving a Picard is fine. I wasn't really disadvantaged by the bug (got top 750) and despite the immense pile of immortals I'm sitting on, this was only my second 5* immortal.

Problem is google won't refund anything that was bought a while back, and if you bought the 5th Picard at the beginning of the event then its almost a month now.
I think I just want to be done with all the incompetence at DB. If not for the love of the Star Trek Universe and the fact that I have so much money invested I would delete this game.
I wonder how many people today are weighing their continued participation in this game against their sunk costs? I wonder if the developers know how many people keep playing out of loss aversion and love for Star Trek and what the game could be rather than actually enjoying the game for what it is?
I have historically argued against the assumption of malice, and endured quite a lot of disrespect for doing so, yet Hanlon's Razor doesn't really offer a more encouraging perspective:
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence, but don't rule out malice.
For me, the problem is the inequality. Some players get something that has a certain value, everyone else gets 1/90th of that value. By choosing Mirror Picard, this inequality was a foreseeable and inevitable result.
It was also avoidable because there are currencies in the game already which could result in fair compensation. Fair meaning things that are of equal value to everyone, such as dilithium or citations.
There are players calling for another DB:DB, I have suggested that this issue of compensation inequality be considered in terms of the "better" that the community is asking for.
We are all downstream from each other and ourselves, therefore choose to be relaxed and groovy. Consider participating in civil discourse, understanding the Tardigrade, and wandering with the Subspace Eddies.
I'm adding to the chorus. I only started spending money recently, but it was against my better judgement. Now I remember why I do everything for free. I got excited over my first FF/FE 5* and this fully deflated my enthusiasm for not only spending my money, but the month of grinding to make sure that money spent on the first week wasn't wasted. I will go back to being a casual player because I feel pretty silly now.

To follow up on what Shan posted earlier, all of us at Disruptor Beam are acutely aware that the Mirror Picard compensation that went out earlier today caused a significant amount of ire and disappointment among some players. We are also aware it's not just one concern, but includes a range of valid concerns including but not limited to perceptions on rewarding competitiveness, to citation redemptions, to players recently purchased the Double Your Crew Offer and others.
I'm not promising that anything will be done specifically about mailed-out Mirror Picard, but I can tell you that we will revisit it internally AFTER we do the various server pushes/client restarts tomorrow. And at a minium, we will keep you informed on what our plans may be.
In the meanwhile, I ask that you please keep your comments civil. It will make it a lot easier for us to parse through all of your comments.

50K Honor, since that is what a 5* Citation costs.

there's nothing to revisit. it's not rocket science. moving every event participant to the next reward tier to compensate for the outage should be sufficient. as in top 1500 all get a Mirror Troi, and top 50 all get Mirror Troi x 2, and so on. but that would be fair, and DB doesn't do fair.
Dear @Shan , could you please be so kind and forward this to the proper authority:
Dear Dirsruptor Beam, Inc.,
i am one of your customers, that was blindsided into purchasing a fifth star on legendary Mirror Picard using 50.000 honor just a few days ago. This honor included about a month of hard work on the game and honor earned from several 10x10 premium pull packs, wich was 10 bucks each.
With giving away a free copy of legendary Mirror Picard at the end of Mirror Mega Event you have destroyed all my trust in the value of any in-game purchases.
Under this circumstances it is not possible to properly strategize and plan my gameplay anymore and i am not able to see any advantages from doing any purchase anymore.
Currently i see only one way to work this issue out:
Compensate any player who have purchased a copy of Mirror Picard by using honor or by using the Double Your Rewards offer with at least 49.450 honor or one legendary citiation via in-game mail on a per ticket basis.
Unless this issue is solved in this or an similar way, i will:
- suspend all further in-game purchases, including monthly card.
- not stop to complain about this issue via tickets, email, social-media, forums.
- write this down into my feedbacks about the game on the several platforms i use to play, if this issue permamently stays unaddressed.
I will file my first ticket about this issue tomorrow, 01/03/18, to give you the time to sort the things out and inform your customer service about it.
Sincerely yours,
VIP12
Note: This is my very second complaint in Forums ever, coz i feel hugely mistreated as a customer here. Note: I am OK with this being copy-pasted by anyone. Edit: FYI, i started posting this prior the response of Black Pebble and this was meant as civil as possible
Hopefully any action can restore confidence. Alot of the issue is buyers remorse and the confidence that doing a double up offer in the future is worth it.

Unfortunately, that is not sufficient. Everyone, regardless of rank, was given a 1/5* character. That is not the same as moving everyone up a reward tier. Those who can use Picard will keep him, but those who did not, should get a legendary citation. Then and only then, does everyone involved actually get a useful 1/5* character, which was the intent of the original gift.

No, that's too much CS work. That's a thousand or 5 tickets.
Now, because they've ignored us and stayed silent for so long, it's too late to fix properly. There was a point where they could have swapped the character while in the inbox, but too many have claimed now for that to work well.
I'm willing to let Mirror Picard stay in my inbox till the day the servers are switched off as a constant reminder when I get tempted to DYS a mega event character in future
Mine's still in the inbox, and will probably stay there. My Picard may only be 4/5, but that last star isn't going to do all that much for me right now anyways, and I'm starting to feel the same way, keep that reminder there.
I think it was intended to be a surprise gift originally..
. . .
I don't think it was originally intended as a comp for the event and tried to 2 for 1 it..
. . .
I really do value the original intention and original motivation of the Picard..
But the gift and the comp should have remained separate.
. . .
Originally, I do believe it was well intentioned..
But I don't think all the ramifications were thought out and players who missed out on troi are boned the hardest (especially if already having Picard 5/5)
I am glad I benefitted,
But I could have easily been 1001 and I'd be here rightfully with pitchforks based on the CS reply being reported.
I'm coming around to this view as well. I don't believe we'll ever get an answer if it was so, but the mail and response was just WAY too fast compared to every other DB reaction in history.
And indeed, if this was the intention, in was a nice thought and should be appreciated, as short sighted and ill-advised as it was. However, that's also a terrifying thought. There was plenty of time to consider the consequences, and either going through with the action in spite of the consequences, or being unable to foresee them is quite telling.
Sorry for the even longer post, I don't want these buried:

well, my solution didn't include any free Picards. there's already a few reports that people are getting a 50k honor compensation through submitting tickets to CS. that cat is already out of the bag.
i could care less for a 5th star on Picard. i pursued Mirror Troi for the gauntlet and tapping away to 623k VP and ending up 5k short because of the outage is no joke. that is what they have yet to resolve.

Good to know.
Inconsistency leading to further inequality?
Consider participating in civil discourse, understanding the Tardigrade, and wandering with the Subspace Eddies.
No, that's too much CS work. That's a thousand or 5 tickets.
Now, because they've ignored us and stayed silent for so long, it's too late to fix properly. There was a point where they could have swapped the character while in the inbox, but too many have claimed now for that to work well.
Mine's still in the inbox, and will probably stay there. My Picard may only be 4/5, but that last star isn't going to do all that much for me right now anyways, and I'm starting to feel the same way, keep that reminder there.
So, business as usual, then, for DB's Customer DisService?
well, my solution didn't include any free Picards. there's already a few reports that people are getting a 50k honor compensation through submitting tickets to CS. that cat is already out of the bag.
i could care less for a 5th star on Picard. i pursued Mirror Troi for the gauntlet and tapping away to 623k VP and ending up 5k short because of the outage is no joke. that is what they have yet to resolve.
