Layna is the first featured legendary from Voyager since June, so I'm happy about that at least. Also, as someone already mentioned, she's the actress who played Cutler, which makes it a nice addition.
On the other hand, I can't imagine her having more than two skills, which means that I probably won't go for top 1k.

DB, when I suggested that Skirmishes could be hybridized this isn’t exactly what I had I mind. On the flip side, at least the Skirmish portion is first so those who choose to play the Galaxy half don’t have to blow their chron stashes.
Confirmation that event does indeed start on Thursday (Thanksgiving) would be appreciated. And if there is a start date correction then information on when the phase change occurs would be greatly appreciated.
The recent threshold change announcement said it was for faction and faction/Galaxy hybrids. What should we expect for thresholds in a skirmish/Galaxy hybrid?
And I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that Douglas Pabst is the "Odo" character from "Far Beyond the Stars." I'm guessing Cmd/Dip, since he is the editor of the magazine. I'm glad they are slowly adding them, as this is one of best DS9 episodes and it could allow certain characters to have different traits and skills than they normally do, like a version of Sisko having Sci (Quark's Herbert Rossoff should have some science, since he is a sci fi writer like Benny). It also allows for more variants of side characters like Weyoun, Dukat, Jake, and Joseph Sisko if they want. Plus, we can get a second baseball-themed Worf! Not to mention a collection eventually.
I think Layna just might fit as the new 5* for the Children of Apollo re-run right before the next mega event.
If I see the picture on Memory Alpha I'm thinking hmm, some Greek tragedy figure ... which would fit in nicely with Apollo, Platonian Kirk and Goddess Troi.
And isn't it convenient that Children of Apollo is up next for a Faction event re-run (right after a hybrid, timing couldn't be better).
Anyway, my 2 cents ... and I hope I'm right because I'd really like a Goddess of Empathy Troi on my crew (she looks great) ... and I need a 4th star for Apollo ...

Putting one of the most requested characters in the game in and event with one of the most requested ships in the game on a major (at least in the US) holiday weekend. Y'all really just want to sell packs, huh?
Pretty cool that we are getting the Enterprise A (the Connie refit is my all time favorite Star Trek ship), though it's a shame there isn't any way to 10/10 the ship without spending a TON of money.
Also kind of glad for the new 5* policy right about now. I can win Captain Spock this weekend in a Faction event, meanwhile Skirmish/Galaxy sounds like a total slog and I won't have that much time to play the game over Thanksgiving. Good thing I don't remember Layna at all, because it's threshold and out (at best) for me next week either way.

This weeks event was exciting and in many respects, it brought new life and enthusiasm for the game.
From my perspective, I have to wonder if a rerun would have been a better choice.
I am sure that DB must have a plan...but from the outside, it just looks like they are repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot with regard to costumer relations. Maybe that is some kind of new business strategy that an old-timer like me simply can't understand? Or maybe it is just my POV. I really just don't get it.

Amenities include wifi, fully-functioning holodecks, a full-service bar, 3 party decks, a Trill spa, and a business centre.
Fun fact: The ships are propelled by bouncy castle technology.
skirmish allows you to farm galaxy components, having a galaxy right after in a hybrid is a natural extension, with chrons that you can gain from playing the skirmish if you don't spend them all. I don't understand why people don't like this, when there are guides written and lots of discussion of people using skirmishes to farm galaxy components anyways?
It's nice the Skirmish is only the first half, so it's not such a massive number of hours commitment. Galaxy can be run so rapidly with 10x warps of the components, I love that this is a shorter time version of a pure skirmish, while still having some honor boost.
Even tho it’s a tribute to the late Kellie Waymire who played both ‘Layna’ and
‘Crewman Cutler’ I still think it’s a poor choice for a 5*.
The character wasn’t the most notable in the episode of Voyager and even then what makes her Legendary over the already under valued 2, 3 & 4*’s we have.

I'll give them a pass on making Layna 5* because of the actress who portrayed her. Kellie Waymire, who also played Cutler on Enterprise, died in 2003. Nice to have her in-game.
Just realized she's also the actress from "The Blood" episode of Seinfeld and was totally hilarious in it. Crazy that she died so young
I'm staying positive.

No it is great. You clear out the threshold in an hour and then if you don't care about Burnham or Lalana you have a nice rest weekend.
